Van Dam gone after ONS

RVD Done With WWE After One Night Stand; New Details
Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

As things currently stand, Rob Van Dam will be finished with WWE after the One Night Stand pay-per-view on June 3rd in Jacksonville, Florida. While WWE Vice President of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis was told to re-sign RVD and made an effort to do so, negotiations have ended, and RVD will be leaving the company.

Bad blood has brewing between Laurinaitis and RVD since Laurinaitis was going over the new company policy that talent could not leave the arena on TV days due to the fact that Sylvan Grenier got a speeding ticket after rushing back to the arena after leaving to go to the gym. During the meeting, RVD sarcastically asked the question if they could go to the gym in the morning before the shows.

Perhaps the breaking point in Van Dam’s relationship with WWE occurred after he learned of the re-forming of ECW and asked to get off of the RAW brand to head the resurrection of ECW and what really happened after that. Also, RVD had asked for time off after signing, citing how WWE offered Big Show a deal where he’d be paid for merchandising rights without having to work for a year. People within WWE felt that to be a dangerous precedent and refused to add that stipulation to his contract.

RVD felt that WWE had limited what he can do in the ring and refused to push him in comparison to Bobby Lashley, when Van Dam felt like he was over way more than Lashley. While RVD’s WWE finale will be before his contract actually expires, he’ll be paid until the end of his contract, but will be off of television to prevent him from working with TNA fresh off his stint with WWE.

At this point RVD is looking at working a limited schedule and make some money from special appearances and autograph signings. RVD also wants to take some time to spend with his wife, whom he has said to love to death, and hates being away from.

Gonna miss him kinda.

Dave Youell 05-10-2007 03:26 AM

Don't think your going to find it that hard to find him somewhere else to be honest.

I'm looking forward to seeing matches where road agents haven't told him what to do spot for spot

SammyG 05-10-2007 03:47 AM

you think he'll be in TNA?

THAT WILL BE SO BIZARRE

What Would Kevin Do? 05-10-2007 05:49 AM

You know....

ROH is running a show in Detroit come September....

I could see ROH bringing him in for some shows... Especially the Japan shows... And having him in Detroit makes sense...

If the idiot actually asked to go from raw to ecw then he should know he's not gonna get a brilliant contract. Anyway, i hope to see him in tna, he'd be more suited to it and would have some good matches with aj styles

Sigh.

He was being pushed JUST FUCKING FINE until he GOT HIMSELF ARRESTED and EMBARRASSED THE GOD DAMN COMPANY!!!

You know what, FUCK RVD. Fuck him in the ASSHOLE. Fuck him in the asshole with a BIG RUBBER DICK. Fuck him in the asshole with a big rubber dick and then BREAK IT OFF and HIT HIM IN THE HEAD with it.

What is it, ECW, WWE, any of it, that makes RVD interesting? Why should I give a damn about him? The answer is I don't. I've seen him in the little company and the big, and he's useless as far as entertaining me. He's a spot monkey that appeals to the ECW fans, and a stoner that appeals to disaffected, pot-smoking, 4:20-muttering dumbasses. I'm not going to miss him one bit, and the TV time he takes up on ECW would be better served showing close-ups of Ariel.

Kane Knight 05-10-2007 08:46 AM

Yup. RVD is the victim here. Not like he was on top until he got caught and arrested for pot.

The MAC 05-10-2007 10:05 AM

i just want to see him in tna.now, bitch!

Theo Dious 05-10-2007 10:07 AM

Yeah, I wanted to see Angle in TNA too.

I'm still waiting.

Jordan 05-10-2007 11:05 AM

I hope he doesn't go to TNA, ROH would be such a better fit.

XL 05-10-2007 11:07 AM

Would he be able to use Rob Van Dam in TNA?

Or are they gonna have to call him something else?

Theo Dious 05-10-2007 11:10 AM

Why not, Kurt Angle can be Kurt Angle... :shifty:

Xero 05-10-2007 11:15 AM

Don West: OH MY GOD! IT'S RIP VAN DAM! THIS IS SO BIZARRE!

IC Champion 05-10-2007 11:22 AM

RVD should have left 3 years ago only there was no where to go and still really isnt.

TNA is as good as bein on ECW or better for him, he might get the push he deserved 2 years ago, and he wont be limited to what he can do and not do in the ring, my only worry is that hell be booked worse then he was in ECW

Theo Dious 05-10-2007 11:23 AM

Rob Dan Vam
Rom Dam Van
Brother Rob :shifty:
Rob Van Dammit

Just throwing out some ideas.

The Fugitive 05-10-2007 11:24 AM

I'm not sure whether he owns it or not. I've heard that when WWE asked talent if they wanted to own their trademark for whatever reason, Rob put his hand up, but I'm looking at the US P&TO website and it says the registrant is WWE.

Guess we'll find out soon enough if he's Rob Van Dam or Rob Van Dyke.

I would like to point AGAIN out that he GOT that push a year ago, and that he held it to his lips, lit it and smoked it up while in a car with Sabu.

If JBL smoked a joint and got caught what would have happened? If Austin would have got caught driving drunk what would have happened?

Theo Dious 05-10-2007 11:30 AM

So you're on the Paris Hilton train then; it's okay to do something against the law/rules if someone else does it? Talk to me when either of those things actually does happen. The man was getting pushed at the top of the newest and hottest product WWE had, and he decided to break the law, and he got caught, and to top it all off he did it at a time when WWE was really hyping their "wellness policy" as something solid and enforced. He killed his own push, and I'm sick of everyone acting like he got screwed Montreal-style.

WWE owns Rob Van Dam and they may also own RVD, in which case he'll probably go by Robbie V again.

BigDaddyCool 05-10-2007 11:49 AM

Whatever, Rob Van Dam is not as good as the IWC makes him out to be. Oh, WWE won't let him work superstiff and bust people open in every god damn match, they are holding him down. Oh, WWE won't let him smoke pot and promote a drug culture, they are holding him down. Oh, WWE made RVD a dual World Champion and were pushing him to the moon and looking to do it for a long time, the are holding him down.

Seriously, WWE can lose RVD and make a new guy to take his place. WWE is still the only promotion to make stars.

Rammsteinmad 05-10-2007 11:54 AM

This is awesome. I'm kinda sad to see him leave... but when he gets out it'll be like "yes... finally free".

I think the problem also came from the fact the WWE had just released to the press about its Drug Awareness whatever program and then that next week their champion gets arrested

AdrianM 05-10-2007 12:46 PM

its a shame to see him go.

he really was one of the 1st people to really catch my attention when i rejoined the wrestling community in 2002ish.
But since Invasion and his "feud" with HHH, he really hasn't done a thing to impress me. i did like when he, chris masters, carlito, ric flair and shelton B were all in the midcard chasing the intercontinental title tho but after that I didn't care much for him.
tbh, i really don't see van dam as the face of ECW and never did. Initially i saw the face of ECW as being Angle and now its clearly Punk.

Anyway, RVD screwed RVD, no two ways about it

MLW 05-10-2007 12:56 PM

Finally I can stop watching ECW...but then again...I might have to start watching TNA...again :shifty:

Stickman 05-10-2007 01:05 PM

So is this why he's been doing anti wwe promos lately? So when he shows up in TNA it'll just be rehashed shit.

PepperCarrotMan 05-10-2007 01:12 PM

Rollin Victor Dangerous!

He can come out on a skateboard, WOAH DUDES!

Yeah, welcome to a week ago.

SammyG 05-10-2007 01:37 PM

lol @ Rob Von Dammit

PepperCarrotMan 05-10-2007 01:49 PM

I can see it now...

"DID YOU SEE THAT TENAY? JEFF JARRET JUST PINNED THIS NEWCOMER, ROARING VINNIE DUNG! "

Lock Jaw 05-10-2007 02:18 PM

Rob Von Doom.

He can cut promos where he shakes his fist and shouts "NONE CAN CONTEND WITH THE WILL OF DOOM!"

Lock Jaw 05-10-2007 02:21 PM

And then TNA can steal Stevie Richards from WWE and have him feud with Rob Von Doom, who can then shake his fist and yell "RICHARDSSSS!!!"

Theo Dious 05-10-2007 02:27 PM

Hey, RVD IS a comic book fan.

Xero 05-10-2007 02:28 PM

DVR

Every match he would lose via cheating, and would demand that they go back and watch the replay and restart the match/declare him the winner.

"Everyone Tivos TNA for DVR!"

Theo Dious 05-10-2007 02:31 PM

LOL, that sounds like a classic Jericho WCW move.
