Childhood tv shows and films you loved.
Just finished watching drop dead fred.
There are so many films I used to love, neverending story, labyrinth. I used to love dragon ball z aswell. |
Galaxy High
|
Also does anyone remember that cartoon that was like set inside a persons body? Like the characters were viruses, blood vessels and all that shit.
|
Wasn't that a movie with Bill Murray and then they turned it into a weekly cartoon?

Ghostbusters 2.
I never really liked the first one until I hit my teens. Then I obviously figured out it was the better of the two. Also: Pee-Wee's Playhouse and all the Pee-Wee movies. I was and still am a Pee Wee mark. Paul Rubens in general, Mystery Men = :y:... Plus: The Real Ghostbusters Dennis the Menace TMNT Roundhouse Ren and Stimpy All That (original cast, after that either I grew out of it or it really went to shit) Keenan and Kel I'd say the entire Nickelodeon lineup from like 94-98, shit like Pete and Pete, Rocko, etc. Too many more to name... |
Galaxy Rangers.
Voltron. Labyrinth. |
Silverhawks
Thundercats G.I. Joe (I still think some people see war like this.) Smurfs The Real Ghostbusters Transformers and the shitty ripoff (aka Go-Bots) Voltron. (the Tigers one. The Cars one was only good once, when they teamed up WITH the Tigers one.) Transformers the Movie (not the new one coming out, the animated one that featured cursing and death.) was awesome. I remember crying when Optimus died. I saw it on my 6th or 7th birthday. |
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
VR Troopers The Spiderman Animated series on fox. Fox kids used to have the sickest kids lineup |
Rude Dog
Ducktales Tom & Jerry (all variations) Power Rangers old school Spiderman cartoon series GI Joe Inspector Gadget cartoon series (Dr. Claw was the illest) |
Cool McCool
Tom & Jerry Cool McCool shits all over everything else. |
Come on, if I was going to make an honest attempt at this, I'd be here for ages. :$
|
Shitttttttttt, let's see...
Power Rangers VR Troopers Bobby's World Batman: The Animated Series Spider Man: The Animated Series Tiny Toons Animaniacs TMNT GI Joe I am def forgetting a ton. |

Okay, let's see:
X-Men Animated Series (can't believe nobody's said that yet) Animaniacs Pinky and the Brain Transformers Scooby Doo, Where Are You? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toxic Crusaders Astro Boy Biker Mice From Mars Battle Toads The Simpsons Inspector Gadget Count Duckula Gumby and Friends Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Super Friends He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Batman: The Animated Series Captain Planet and the Planeteers Ducktales Darkwing Duck Rocko's Modern Life (pretty much all the Nicktoons) Kenan & Kel Smurfs Thundercats Banana Man Bangers and Mash Super Ted The Ferals Round the Twist Danger Mouse Yeah. And that's just the TV shows. That I remember. Not much to do in PNG when you're 2-7 years old living in a gated community with an 8pm city-wide curfew and all that's on TV is old cartoons from the '80s because new stuff from abroad didn't come so easily back then (so I was well versed in all the Hanna Barbera favourites too). This may also explain why I lack any athletic ability whatsoever, and also my latent racist tendencies which I don't really deal with anymore. *cough* |

Also: Rocko's Modern Life Bucky O'Hare TMNT Transformers Heman Thundercats Johnny Quest Saved by the Bell California Dreams Pro Stars Hang Time Grange Hill |
mitch mentioned a load more I forgot too
|
Yeah I had a pretty comprehensive viewing experience growing up. For the first few years of my childhood I could watch tonnes of cartoons from the 1960s to the 1980s from England and America pretty much and then when we moved back to Australia suddenly and got cable, then I had access to all the Nicktoons and Cartoon Network shows and stuff. Best of both worlds.
|
Pretty much what's been said, but also:
Tigersharks Bionic 6 Captain N: The Gamemaster Mario & Zelda cartoons Camp Candy C.O.P.S. Filmation's Ghostbusters Gummi Bears Adventures In Wonderland Dumbo's Circus Care Bears Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers Denver, the Last Dinosaur Fraggle Rock Fantasic Max |
Forgot the Simpsons. I literally grew up on it.
Also... Quote:
Oh yeah, and a few more movies I loved: Blank Check Home Alone 1 & 2 Almost all the Ernest movies Toy Story 1 & 2 The Back to the Future Trilogy Ace Ventura 1 & 2 The Mask |
I went tip of the iceburg, myself. Good lord, I forgot about a bunch of those.
Tigersharks, wasn't that part of a bunch of shows called "The Comic Strip?" It also featured a series entitled Street Frogs, IIRC. Also remember a movie that I think was called "The Dark Crystal" or something like that, and Willow. Darkwing Duck was cool, too. "I am the Terror that FLAP IN THE NIGHT!" Captain N was cool, even though they confused Bayou Billy with Pitfall that one time. Speaking of Nintendo, how about "the Wizard", which if I remember right, was about a kid that I think had Autism or something like that, but was the shit in Video Games. Featured the Debut of the Power Glove and Super Mario 3. it seems like me and my friend are the only ones to remember Silverhawks. C.O.P.S. was cool. Especially Longarm. |

Seriously now adays it sucks for kids they have shows like Dora, and gay shit like that. We had some quality shows when we were younger.
I loved Power Rangers, I was in love with the Pink Ranger. But yeah so many good shows. |
All the new Kids stuff is shitty. They either are 1. Really, REALLY PC, 2. A spinoff/resurrection of a better show, or 3. Just plain shit.
|
It's all anime shit. Yugioh and crap. Pisses me off.
|
Legends of the Hidden Temple
|
Oh yeah, Bananaman, bitches.
|
But for real, Cool McCool.

Silverhawks was good. I keep hearing they released it on DVD, but can't find it. Anyone ever see Spiral Zone? |
Blank Check was awesome. Until you get older and realize how 1 million dollars can only go so far
|
How did nobody say Mighty Max and Hey Dude and shit
I'd love to make a big list but I'm too lazy right now |
I was a bit old for Mighty Max when it came out, if I recall.
But Hey Dude, hells yes. Danny was awesome. "Hey Ted, don't touch that, it's Native American." "Hey Melodie, don't eat that, it's Native American." |
okay so much for my laziness I have to do it now that I started thinking about it...
Cartoons: The Real Ghostbusters Ninja Turtles GI Joe Xmen Spider-Man Animated Series Batman Animated Series Extreme Ghostbusters Men In Black the cartoon...for a short time I remember digging this Animaniacs Tiny Toon Adventures Pinky and the Brain Rocko's Modern Life Rugrats Doug Ren n Stimpy Ahh Real Monsters Kabblam Mighty Max Bucky O'Hare Cowboys of Moo Mesa Smurfs Scooby Doo (the young version was the shit too) Gumby Beetlejuice Alvin and The Chipmunks Marvel Comics Action Hour with Stan Lee (Iron Man and Fantastic 4) Sonic the Hedgehog (the cartoony one where they loved chili dogs) Super Mario Bros/Legend of Zelda Garfield and Friends (the second half with the farm characters was the goods) Heathcliff the cat Captain Planet Transformers/Beast Wars Bobby's World Earthworm Jim Dennis the Menace (Phil Hartman voiced his dad) Ducktales Darkwing Duck Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers Magic School Bus Back to the Future the animated series Muppet Babies Inspector Gadget Eureeka's Castle Biker Mice from Mars James Bond Jr. I'll tackle live action later. |

The only respectable shit they have for kids these days are the staples. Batman, Ninja Turtles, Tom and Jerry and all the basics are still around, and so is Scooby Doo. But they're all reworked versions with new animation and direction and they're inferior to the others. |

I actually used to watch Mad Max, because I'd exercise before school, and it was the only thing good on TV between 6:00 and 7:00 AM. |

I mean fuck, 80% of the shows on TV when I was growing up (Most of the TV I watched in my youth was between 86 and 89 or so, then I started reading pretty heavily for a few years) were 30 minute advertisements that showed you how to play with an action figure. Which reminds me...Anyone watch MASK? They actually made laws about this shit. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is tyhat it's easy to mine the good stuff from the bad, but really, the 70s, 80s, and 90s were not really any better than the current stuff. I mean, there's still good kid's shows. Not many can I name, butthen, my interest level's a little lower. But come on... Not all the kid's content is crap. I mean, I enjoy some of these shows. Fairly Oddparents is fucking twisted. :D And Comcast has it OnDemand....Hmmm Anyone ever catch Esteban and the Seven Cities of Gold? I don't know the full title, because they changed it every like 2 episodes. Howabout Bonkers? It wasn't really my youth, per se.... |
