Interesting way they are going about the draft tomorrow night

WWE World champion Edge vs. WWE champion John Cena will open the three hour Monday Night Raw tomorrow at 8 Pm Eastern, kicking off the 2007 WWE Draft Lottery.

WWE announced this evening that all of the matches on Raw will be "interpromotional" with the winning wrestler earning their respective brand a draft pick. It should be interesting to see how the breakdown of the matches work since there are three brands.

Dorkchop 06-10-2007 11:31 PM

Cena has to run through Edge again? Gah!

Interesting concept... I just hope it doesn't end up super predictable (it probably will).

KingofOldSchool 06-10-2007 11:32 PM

Well now that Edge is on the B-Show, it gives more reason for Cena to steamroll over Edge.

Xero 06-10-2007 11:32 PM

So figure 8 matches MAX, so only 8 (max) are going to be changed? Or will they be worth more than one pick?

KingofOldSchool 06-10-2007 11:41 PM

I sense it'll probably be a "bonus" pick. As in each brand starts out with say, 3 picks, but they can add to that total by winning matches during the night.

So what are everyone's hopes for tomorrow night's draft? It's weird but I feel like for the first time in a long time, everyone is exactly where I would want them to be.

But I suppose if I had to root for someone to switch around it would be Cor Von to RAW. I think he could make a GREAT Champ. And while we're at it, turn him into a cocky face.

Just move the Hardys together. My vote would be Jeff to SmackDown.

MVP takes the US Title to RAW.

Santino takes the IC title to SmackDown. (not that I want Santino on SmackDown, but just to equal out the title switches.

Orton to ECW. I highly doubt this will happen, but I think Orton does best in a Hardcore scene, and not that ECW is one, but at least it has an excuse whenever they want. And I think he would be a prime choice to take the title from Lashley. It gets him back up to a "World Champ" level while not actually giving him one of the big two.

It's not for either title. Therefore, it's a straegically solid time for Cena to lose.

Which means he won't.

And besides the only time he really loses is right before a PPV title match.

The One 06-11-2007 12:30 AM

Prediction...

Edge beats Cena by cheating, Teddy Long comes out and says that if his World Champion needs to cheat to beat someone they must be good, so he drafts Cena. And or the rest of the night, all anyone does is try and draft Cena to their brand, but in the process John keeps having his "First match" as a part of the new brand, he wins all the titles, wins an entire WWE wide battle royal, makes Eddie Guerrero's dead body tap to the STFU (they use strings) and then gives a salute as the show closes.

My big hope is that the night ends with a huge clusterfuck brawl like last time

Just pointing out how logical it is. Which is pretty much saying hwo unlikely it is to happen.

But the question is - are rosters going to be frozen...? (Unless this has already been answered, then disregard!)

If nothing else I'm sure the rest of the show will be a cluster fuck.

Mr. Nerfect 06-11-2007 04:18 AM

I personally love this idea. If there is backlash because only a few guys are moved, they might even extend the draft to ECW and SmackDown!.

Edge could really use a win over Cena, but let's face it, smart money is on Cena. I can see Batista helping Cena win, to "add heat" to his scheduled match against Edge at Vengeance, only for Jonathan Coachman to make his first draft pick Batista.

hb2k 06-11-2007 10:03 AM

Yeh, I hope this doesn't mean an illustrious 6 draft picks.

dude extreme 06-11-2007 10:06 AM

Except a evolution re-birth and edge lose the title to batista and so the world title back on raw and wwe champ cena on sd! I Myyyy mUVAGHA!!!

I doubt that they will pick whoever they want. They will do what they did before and pick a name at random from the other two brands. I mean if each brand rep. would get to pick anyone they want then they would just be taking the other brands main eventers.

After all, they would look like total morons if say ECW had to the chance to draft John Cena from Raw only to take say, Val Venis.

*cue Alenoid making an eighteen paragraph essay on how Val Venis would make a good impact player on ECW*

Of course, the last draft they did was meant to be names taken at random and only main eventers/upper midcarders/people who could actually make an impact got swapped anyway :o

If anything, I just hope that doesn't happen again. Another "random" draft where every pick is a star.

I'm wondering if they are gonna be stupid and split up Cade/Murdoch with the draft...seemingly every Raw preview I've read mentions something like "what if Cade and Murdoch are drafted apart?" so I'm thinking it might happen. If there's a trade window after, I can see one of them getting drafted to ECW and then the other getting traded there (new titles are then created for Raw)

BigDaddyCool 06-11-2007 02:21 PM

I don't really care because it is almost meaningless to be a certain brand. Guys are constantly bouncing back and forth. And with all the ppv being interpromtional, it is extra meaning less.

Also, we know Lashley isn't going to be traded because what is the point of having the ECW title being defended on Smackdown or Raw...Unless he loses it to someone either coming on to ECW or staying. And the only person I want to see it go to is Cor Brown or Rhyno. I still would love to see Rhyno back on ECW.

BigDaddyCool 06-11-2007 02:22 PM

BTW, if they "lock down" the roster the I guess it will matter until the forget they locked it down.

Though I would love to see Raw get a GM that is not Crazy Vince. He is just annoying.

Too bad Rhino is in TNA

Like that matters.

MVP is the best thing on Smackdown recently. Taking him to RAW would be terrible.

I really think Noble is going to ECW. Weird how he just appeared on SD.

Tommy Gunn 06-11-2007 04:56 PM

I'd like to see the following:

Carlito > ECW
Randy Orton > Smackdown
Matt Hardy > Raw
Ken Kennedy > Raw (although unlikely he'll be moved while off-screen)
Batista > Raw
C M Punk > Smackdown
Boogie Man > ECW (so I don't have to watch him anymore)
Ric Flair > Smackdown (so he can have more mat-based wrestling matches with Benoit etc)
