The World's Largest Gang Machine

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

With the recent draft of Viscera to the ECW brand, don’t be surprised if you see him on television more now, as WWE has some big plans for this massively large wrestler.

WWE is going to drop his current gimmick of being “The World’s Largest Love Machine” and make him more of a One Man Gang character, which means he will be basically be a mean, bad, wrecking machine. The idea for this is to get him over as big and unstoppable in ECW, and then bring him back to RAW or SmackDown! as a monster heel that can headline main events. They recently did this with Snitsky who is scheduled to mow down undercarders for the rest of the year and feud with Cena in 2008.

Reason behind Viscera’s push is because of his massive size and unlike some of the wrestlers backstage, he doesn’t have many problems. Dave Lagana didn’t want him on the brand if he wasn’t revamped with new image because he felt the “Love Machine’ gimmick would never get over as a headliner for the company. Furthermore, Vince McMahon liked the idea of Viscera being pushed like the One Man Gang in the 80's. Plus, it's easy to convince Vince to push a monster, even it's failed a few times before, as opposed to a smaller person, even if the person has a history of past success.

He was a tag champ and King of the Ring over 10 years ago... what is gonna make him so over now? :-\

Hardcore matches. Crowd eats that up. But that can only work for so long. He basically needs to destroy Cena. All the girlies and young bois will hate him then.

But in my terms. I really don't know. Give him a cruiserweight moveset and I'll be impressed :shifty:

OH MY GAWDDD, MABEL WITH AN SHOOTING STAR PRESS.

Are you kidding? He's AGILE! He can do a spinning heel kic!

James Steele 06-23-2007 12:38 PM

Cena has already beaten him a bunch of times with both the AMAZING F-U and the PAINFUL STF-U!

Evil Vito 06-23-2007 12:46 PM

I wanna see him get built up like a monster like Henry. Move to Smackdown, then all of a sudden they both go back to their old love machine gimmicks and team up. Sexual Chocolate.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 06-23-2007 12:50 PM

Bobby Lashley should get a Flexual Chocolate gimmick.

If they don't do it, I'm sure someone in C-Fedding will.

Keep the Love Machine bit, and make him the world's largest Gangbang,

IC Champion 06-23-2007 01:09 PM

I have a feeling that this isn't going to go over well, I dont know why I just do....

How many repeat failed attempts do they need to make at over-pushing a 'monster' before they realize squashing a bunch of jobbers doesn't get anybody over!

IC Champion 06-23-2007 01:17 PM

Why is Vince going back to he early 1990's formula? I mean did he take a serious blow to the head in of those matches he's wrestled in over the past 5 years and get knocked back 15 years. Also, because you can squash some no names, and under carders, btu it isn't going to get over.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 06-23-2007 01:19 PM

The fans will catch on to the fact that big men who squash everyone in the undercard will pose no threat to Cena, and they won't care.

IC Champion 06-23-2007 01:37 PM

Yeah, what is the point in pushing them and doing all of that, so that when they go to face Cena they job and everyone and their mothers knows that they are.

I knew Umaga wasnt going to win the title, I know Khali wasn't going to win, and neither will Snitsky or Viscera. How about pushing the wrestlers who get little to no push and yet every week and fans still get behind them.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 06-23-2007 01:42 PM

Heel Benoit would've been a perfect opponent for Cena.

IC Champion 06-23-2007 01:44 PM

I don't think Benoit has the charisma to pull that off this late in his career after being a face for 5 plus years.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 06-23-2007 01:51 PM

Well he'd be up against Cena, so he'd be cheered regardless of how he acted.

Vince must either die, or seek treatment for hoss priapism.

At this point of his career, Benoit is so well respected with the fans that it will be damn near impossible to get people to boo him no matter who he wrestles.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 06-23-2007 02:16 PM

I still think he could be used in a heel role, despite the cheers.

They insist on keeping Cena face while he's often the most booed guy on the show, so it'd balance it out.

Maybe because it’s all been way overdone by Lashley, Mark Henry, Umaga and Khali recently...Big :n: to the ECW creative team for dropping the (see: Vis’) balls on this one...

Yeah, except the ONLY reason Cena is kept face is because the ones who love him buy his shit in bulk. Benoit isn't marketable to the majority of the WWE fans (or their target audience). Cena is.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 06-23-2007 02:23 PM

I was gonna say Benoit would actually look like a threat to him if booked correctly, but:

A) How likely is it that he'd be booked correctly?

B) I still can't get over the way he tapped to the STFU a couple of months ago.

Not quite the same, but...

Dave Youell 06-25-2007 01:22 PM

Ok, as stupid as it is to do this.

IF you wanted to get Vis over as a monster heel this is the best way to do it. So I will give the writers credit, however Vis is so saturated and has been beaten by most of the upper card already, so the bookers really have their work cut out for them to make him seem like a threat.

Personally I think they have switched Snitsky too soon, he needed more time on ECW, the only guys of note he beat were RVD and Dreamer, granted there was no one left, but that's not really putting him over as they made both of them to look like bitched recently

Kane Knight 06-25-2007 01:45 PM

I agree it's the best way to do it. I also agree it's stupid. combined, I have to say, it's similar to saying "If you're going to stick your dick in a blender, the besst way to do it is to insert and then turn the blender on."

Rammsteinmad 06-25-2007 04:29 PM

I would hate for this to happen.

After being a useless tub of lard for the last decade, Viscera suddenly becomes unstoppable... yeah right.

Also, I (REALLY FUCKING) hate that "spinning kick" he does. He BARELY get's off the ground, and then the announcers are always like "OH MY GOD! Look at the agility of the big man! We've never seen that before!".

Rammsteinmad 06-25-2007 04:30 PM

How the fuck can they release people like Joey Mercury and Rob Conway, but not Viscera?!

NoRoolz 06-25-2007 04:38 PM

lol his spin kicks

You ever see that episode of the Simpsons where Homer eats his way into extreme obesity for the sake of getting on disability?

When did Snitsky beat RVD? The only match I remember them having, RVD won by DQ.

Mr. Nerfect 06-25-2007 07:41 PM

I'm a bigger fan of Viscera than I am most of the other generic hosses they bring in. That article someone posted here that talks about the evolution of his character is the reason why. When he first returned under his dark character, I was intrigued as to where he'd been (in kayfabe terms) and why he was back, what his motivations were, etc. The WWE will likely ruin all that, but I'd much prefer Viscera to Snitsky or Mark Henry.

mrslackalack 06-26-2007 12:21 AM

1995 all over again

mrslackalack 06-26-2007 12:23 AM

I like big Vis.

Afterlife 06-26-2007 08:54 AM

The spinning heel kick rocks the casbah, fyi.

So, firing Viscera would violate the Americans With Disabilities Act? Hm, that probably also explains Mark Henry.

Kane Knight 06-26-2007 10:58 AM

Yeah, each of them fills multipel minority positions.
