The Official John Morrison repect thread

To all those that said Tough Enough was a huge joke and waste of time, I present to you:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...acko/nitro.jpg

Pay homage.

Mr. JL 06-26-2007 11:14 PM

Yeah, I have been most impressed with Johnny Nitro's work for a long while now.

Johnny Nitro > CM Punk

Innovator 06-26-2007 11:17 PM

Gotta work on the offense mid match, other than that he's gonna be the goods.

But Punk > Nitro

Yeah, Jeff Hardy hit that press conference on the head when he likened it to paint drying. Nitro's promo tonight was real stiff too but he still brings the goods in the ring.

Dorkchop 06-26-2007 11:34 PM

I like him. I don't think he's heavyweight material just yet, but ECW is the C- show, so it doesn't matter. If he doesn't screw up, he could possibly be a big name.

Mr. Nerfect 06-27-2007 01:30 AM

I think the press conference was actually hurt more by Melina than Johnny Nitro. I thought Nitro handled what he was meant to really well. Melina kind of just went over the same points again and again. Being that the WWE scripts most of their promos these days, I think more fault should be placed on the writing team.

Johnny Nitro has improved leaps and bounds since his early days, where he was just the style to Joey Mercury's substance (and for a while, Mercury arguably had more style, too). Nitro has actually become a damn competent wrestler. His match with John Cena on RAW was apparently one of the better matches in ECW since the brand has started up. Considering Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair have all appeared there, that's saying something.

It's kind of surreal to think of the guy as a World Champion. It was a nice surprise for him to win the belt, but I don't know if he should get a long reign. I feel that the reason they went with him over Punk, is because he was the closest thing they had on ECW to an "establishing champion." By winning the ECW World Title, Chris Benoit would have breathed a sense of credibility into it. Johnny Nitro may not have the years of experience that Benoit had, but he is a former three-time WWE Tag Team Champion and two-time Intercontinental Champion. That beats out Punk's resume of...well, nothing.

I'm digging Johnny Nitro at the moment, and I can't wait for him to make even bigger waves in the WWE (which he will). I also can't wait for Joey Mercury to get his life back on track, because he is arguably even better than Nitro in all departments (there, I said it), and if he returned, he could provide another main eventer just by mere association with Johnny Nitro, who has been elevated to that level. I also can't wait to see the feud between CM Punk and Johnny Nitro, which will knock some socks off. I also wouldn't object to William Regal heading off to ECW to take Chris Benoit's place, and provide them with a veteran who can help the newbies learn. An ECW main event scene of William Regal, CM Punk, Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury, Elijah Burke and Marcus Cor Von would be simply awesome.

Mr. Nerfect 06-27-2007 01:33 AM

Also, what would make Johnny Nitro even more awesome, is if he runs into Melina at a show somewhere (maybe an interpromotional RAW, or the next PPV), and Melina tries to get back with him now that he is ECW World Champion. Johnny Nitro then flat-out rejects Melina, because now he can have as many women as he wants whenever he wants. And then he can throw in a line like "That's not even because I'm ECW World Champion...that's just because I'm Johnny Nitro."

The Naitch 06-27-2007 01:33 AM

Nitro should murder someone. That would be extreme

ChiefStubbs 06-27-2007 01:36 AM

His match against Cena kinda sucked. It was a little slow, and they kept looking like they were expecting each and every next move.

Corkscrewed 06-27-2007 02:16 AM

Cena doesn't seem to have good chemistry with anyone who isn't a wrestling god.

chrisat928 06-27-2007 04:45 AM

Considering this was their first match together, plus them still dealing with the Benoit news, I'd say the match was good.

How must Nitro be feeling? He shows up at Vengence, and is told he's replacing Chris Benoit in the ECW title match, and that he was going to win only to lose it the following Tuesday (if the rumors are to be belived). Then to show up Monday for the Mcmahon death RAW to find out Benoit was dead, and that he will hold on to the title until Great American Bash.
Then the double-murder/suicide comes out.

Gotta give the man credit for even competing, along with Cena, Punk, and Burke.

NoRoolz 06-27-2007 09:03 AM

Yeah, Nitro is one of the future stars of WWE.

At least he should be.

:y:

Theo Dious 06-27-2007 09:10 AM

It occurs to me that, in the vaguest sense, Nitro is now a triple-crown winner; Tag Team champion, IC champion, and now a world champion.

Damn he rocks. :y:

Could've sworn they mixed it up a couple times during the whole K-Fed angle. Sadly, Federline has more wins over Cena than Nitro.

Nitro is the fucking man, though. I enjoy him very much, and I wish he would break out that standing shooting star press every once and again.

Stickman 06-27-2007 06:19 PM

I do like the guy

chrisat928 06-27-2007 06:21 PM

Did they actually have a match or two? I can remember Nitro randomly attacking Cena during promos and other matches, but no actual one on one matches between the two.

Anybody Thrilla 06-27-2007 06:31 PM

I'm pretty sure there was at least one match.

311 06-27-2007 06:35 PM

Nitro is great. :y:

JT 06-27-2007 06:36 PM

Actually, I think Tough Enough 3 produced some really good wrestlers...problem was that as talented as Matt was, he kept running into bad luck...whether it was Bob Holly or a tumor. I feel he had as good of a shot as Nitro if it wasn't for the luck.

As for Nitro...yea. With Y2J and RVD retired...I have accepted him as my new favorite.

Anybody Thrilla 06-27-2007 06:38 PM

I think Nitro and Jericho would've been an awesome feud. Clash of the egomaniacs.

Juan 06-27-2007 06:47 PM

I've liked this guy ever since he was one of Bishoff's stooges on Raw and changed his name to Nitro in honor of Bishoff..

Then again, the ECW championship is kind of a secondary champion like those in a way.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-27-2007 07:38 PM

Yeah, it is. I initially didn't like Nitro getting it as I thought there are more heels that Punk could fued with but a long fued with Punk, done right, could be interesting.

Anyways, what the ECW champ needs is a few wins over some big name Raw or Smackdown talent. Have Nitro beat Batista, or when/if Punk gets it beat Umaga or Randy Orton and it's sold. ECW champ IS a world championship again. Either way, Nitro or Punk if he got it quick probably needs a long reign. If they don't get many top faces in soon then probably Punk should have it soon.

Rob 06-28-2007 09:06 AM

Everyone who thinks I always think I'm right about everything and know everything there is to know about pro wrestling.... well I don't.

People were praising this man months ago and I buried him. Ever since then, the man has been awesome when given the chance and I will happily admit to not only being wrong about him but I'm also agreeing with every single person who called him the next Shawn Michaels.

Good man. :y:

I've liked him ever since the "Bischoff's Boy" days, but I can't honestly say I ever thought he'd be any kind of World Champion, even a third-tier one.

Jordan 06-28-2007 10:59 AM

His match with Cena on ECW was a MOTYC, it was awesome.

Theo Dious 06-28-2007 11:04 AM

I think that just tells us how many shit matches there have been this year.

Jordan 06-28-2007 12:03 PM

Well Cena is also in two others, HBK/Raw and Wrestlemania.

Mooияakeя™ 06-28-2007 02:13 PM

Well, I'll continue watching ECW. Just hope they use him right and more people get into it and watch too!

Cena/Umaga at the Rumble was a really great match and definitely a candidate in my eyes.

Xero 06-28-2007 02:17 PM

Anyway, I hate his voice for some reason, but Nitro is good in the ring. I could never see him as a serious WWE or World Heavyweight champion (things can change, but at this point I can't) but he's a solid upper-midcarder. Considering the ECW title is about on level with the IC and US titles he's in a good spot.

Mooияakeя™ 06-28-2007 04:06 PM

I just read on a website that http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/ that Burchill is going to be called up to ECW to continue his "most dangerous man" style gimmick. It said something like his gimmick would suit ECW.

I was writing on here about it and how I think Regal would be good to form a face British team (jesus, that'd be a first, we're always looekd upon as dastardly "fake spoken" heels) and it's gone from there. Now there is something about Bischoff.

Obviously that must have been BS, or the news guy got it wrong.

Would be nice to see Regal there though.

Technically Skippord, EVERY match is a candidate.

Anybody Thrilla 06-28-2007 04:44 PM

So far, my vote goes to the Extreme Pudding match at ONS.

Slow 06-28-2007 05:38 PM

match of the year clearly goes to cena vs khali, on one raw where cena got his ass kicked. i always think of that whenever i'm down, and then i smile.

How long is he going to hold the damn title for? surely management know why he gets booed? there's even talk of him fighting snitsky in a title match in 2008! i mean come on, surely some vigilante is gonna break his legs before then? i guess he'll overcome the odds and fight on stilts or something
