10 years from now: Top 10 Quarterbacks of all time?

I had an idea to do a top 10 list but do it in future tense. 10 years from now.

10 Years from now what would be your top 10 QB's of all time?

VonErichLives 07-06-2007 12:10 PM

without looking at stats off the top of my head.
Also, not in order

P. Manning
Marino
Elway
Montana
Brady
Young
Farve
Baugh
Roethlisberger
Dawson

Honerable Mentions:
Unitis
Moon or Flutie if we count CFL

You could also stat wise make an argument for Bledsoe and Fouts.

Roethlisberger, I went back and forth between him and Brees, figuring one of them might keep it up for another 8-10yrs... and I flipped a coin.

SammyG 07-06-2007 12:13 PM

If Bulger wins some Superbowls, throw him in there.

CSL 07-06-2007 12:26 PM

In no order: Marino, Montana, Favre, Manning, Elway, Moon, Tarkenton, Brady, Palmer, Unitas

SammyG 07-06-2007 12:29 PM

Peyton Manning will be remembered as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game of football.

RP 07-06-2007 12:44 PM

My list would be..

Manning
Brady
Montana
Elway
Marino
Farve
Unitas
Palmer
Brees

I think Palmer and Brees will bump guys like Jim Kelley and Namath out. I dont think Brees is a fluke. I think he'll have a Steve Young like career and bump Young out also.

Also Palmer could be as high as #3 on this list 10 years from now, but it depends on if his whole team isnt jail.

Totally disagree with Rothlisberger. That guy is garbage.

That is kinda a complicated question

Ten years from now, I reckon you could put Brady on that list and Manning most likely. Definitely have to have Elway and Montana on it, and I'd imagine Marino would squeeze onto that list as well, as far as the more recent guys go.

Guys like Sammy Baugh, who were the best of their time would earn a spot on my list. Unitas definitely. Staubach without question. Possibly Terry Bradshaw. Maybe Bart Starr.

Obviously I cannot go on telling you about all the older guys since I have a limited number of years on my lifespan. But I can tell you this:

Joe Nameth was the most over-rated quarterback of all time and the only reason why anyone would put his name on such a list is because they can't name anyone else.

And to the person who said Doug Flutie: Go watch soccer or rugby or sea paddling, because his name SHOULD NOT BE 6,000 BILLION LIGHTYEARS FROM THAT LIST.

DrA 07-06-2007 06:25 PM

Also Rectal Pertruder, you do realize that they invented football before 1987 right?

James Steele 07-06-2007 06:37 PM

Once again, a Cowboy fan proves his genius.

Aperently the DR needs his eyes checked...

If you're counting CFL stats you have to talk about Flutie and Moon being on those lists.

If you don't count CFL stats then of course not...

I'm also one of the most anti-Flutie fans you'll meet, but I have to easily admit if you count CFL stats he's on that list.

Ya know, I wasn't thrilled about putting his name up there... but looking at what he did his first 2 years... I figure if I'm going to put money on a guy with a long career probably ahead of him I'd go with him, I debated putting Brees in that spot... but since Burger already has the ring I went with him and you can make a case for Palmer, I just think 10yrs from now we'll look at him as a good QB but not top 10. It's all semi-guess work with the guys still playing except Manning and Brady.

As for Young getting knocked out... The Rings, the Rushing yds and the passer raitings I think we'll keep him in there.

Also, right now if Brady and Manning retire today, you would have difficulty making a case for them not to be on that list.

Leading the "career stats" category doesn't always mean you were the best, a lot of times it just means you played a long time.

Not Jake Plummer, that's for sure.

Nervous Ferret 07-07-2007 02:17 AM

Favre
Brady
Manning
Montana
Elway
Marino
Unitas
Staubach

And the last 2 spots would probably go to Young/Vick/Brees/Cutler/Quinn/Palmer/Roethlisberger/Bulger/Alex Smith/McNabb/Rivers/Leinart/Russell?/Romo?/Kellen Clemens?/E Manning??

Impossible to tell now but I would say it is likely that 2 of those guys from that list could be considered top 10 of all time in 10 years

RP 07-07-2007 03:25 AM

Oh man. Ferret really got me. I didnt think about Vince Young. Every since the year that Texas won the National title. Even before the title game, i though Young was gunna be amazing and i still think that. Man i dont even know. Vince Young has top 5 possibilty. I think he can be amazing in 3 years or so.

RP 07-07-2007 03:25 AM

Kellen Clemens......lol.

Nervous Ferret 07-07-2007 03:53 AM

I put Kellen Clemens in not because I think he will even play a down in the NFL, but I was more or less eluding to the fact that it is impossible to tell now.

RP 07-07-2007 03:55 AM

its not impossible to make an educated guess. And saying Clemens could be top 10 of all time is retarded.

Nervous Ferret 07-07-2007 03:58 AM

lol clearly a joke bro, I already said I don't think he will ever play a (competitve) down in the NFL

No they wouldnt cause we're talking about GOAT and its not realistic to think that a 25 year old rookie or 2nd year player could be considered GOAT.

el fregadero 07-08-2007 05:00 PM

lol Kordell Stewart

That was a joke right?

If you're looking for a running QB I'd take Cunningham over Stewart any day of the week and Cunningham isn't making that list.

mrslackalack 07-08-2007 11:05 PM

Yeah, I agree Cunnigham and Moon were much better QBs than Kordell

I didn't see you form a list, why don't you shed some of your exuberating genius?

I think Peyton is definitely on that list, as I think most people would agree.

I'm on my way out the door so I can't offer a full list. :o

Archie Manning
Jeff Blake

Rex Grossman

Supreme Olajuwon 07-12-2007 05:42 PM

What has Roethlisberger done to show that he will be one of the greatest QBs ever? Last time I checked he's what Rex Grossman was last year except he didn't have to throw as much.

first 2 seasons had decent stats, but not a lot of yards. last year a lot more throwing but everything else went down.

I just wanted to throw someone in my top 10 that was a "future pick" and adding the fact he has a ring already, I gambled on him over Palmer and Brees.
