I never got into hand held systems

I have a gameboy...the original and only used it on family trips never felt like playing it while sitting at home. It still works fine and has good games; Donkey Kong, Links Awakening, Mario 2 6 golden coins. Never felt like updating to somethings flashier....call me old fashion.

Do any of you share the same feelings? or do you update your system when you can?

James Steele 07-14-2007 08:57 PM

I never had a handheld system. I wouldn't mind having a GBA, but I can't think of a time I would actually use it anymore.

Kris P Lettus 07-14-2007 09:00 PM

Original Gameboy was the shit..

One Word:

TETRIS

Bad Company 07-14-2007 09:03 PM

I've got a DS with a 2gb SD Card, it's perfect. Never got into portable systems until I got it.

chrisat928 07-14-2007 09:27 PM

I have a GBA and a PSP. Damn DS, biased againest lefties.
I do have to say the PSP, in my opinion, is the best handheld. It's a MP3 player, movie player, has internet access, and some good games.

James Steele 07-14-2007 09:53 PM

BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE A CELL PHONE BUILT IN! YOU LOSE

A lot of games have the left hand option. A, B, X, and Y work the same as the d-pad for some games. I don't know how many do this, but I've come across a few. It's not a problem for stylus only games, but not all are stylus only, and don't really have a left handed option, so it must be kind of annoying

Kris P Lettus 07-14-2007 09:59 PM

My buddy got a PSP right when they first came out and ended up only using it for music.. Then he bought an Ipod Nano so now his PSP is a paper weight..

Dorkchop 07-14-2007 10:09 PM

I had a Gameboy when I was a kid, but it got stolen, and I never got a handheld until I got my DS in 2005. I don't know why I never got one until just recently. Gameboy, and GBA were amazing handhelds. I think it was mainly the batteries.

I play my DS more than I play my Wii and PS2 combined. I actually play it significantly more than both. It's just so awesome. I didn't get a GBA because it was hard to see shit with the original screen (I wanted one though). I'm a little bummed that I didn't get one when the SP came out, because seriously, the GBA had/has so many great games.

The DS is the perfect thing for me right now. I bring it to work a lot, and play it when I'm early or on lunch. I bring it to my girlfriend's too and play it when nothing's going on, or when there's a little bit of time to kill. Plus, I have all the GBA games I missed out on to find and play.

Fuck, I love the DS, and still think there's a lot of untapped potential (games wise).

Conta IV out this year.

diothoir 07-14-2007 10:28 PM

Never owned one, but the DS interests me a lot. Probably will buy one as soon as I get a regular paycheck.

Kane Knight 07-14-2007 11:01 PM

I've never gotten the lefty argument.

Xero 07-14-2007 11:27 PM

Yeah, I don't see how the DS is bias against lefties more than any other console/handheld. Unless it has something to do with the interfaces or some shit, but even then it's hardly different than any other system.

Xero 07-14-2007 11:30 PM

GBA is the best handhold ever though. Shitload of great games right there and it's backwards compatible with the Gameboy Color and original Gameboy.

#BROKEN Hasney 07-15-2007 04:44 AM

The DS is, for me, the best console of all time.

Metoes, Advance Wars, mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros, Trauma Centre, Phoniex Wright, Hotel Dusk, Animal Crossing, 8 player online Bomberman, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario 64, The Settlers 2, Touch Detective, Sonic Rush, Sim City, Pokemon DIamond and Pearl, Custom Robo, Theme Park, those brain games and the 2 Kirby games.

Jesus, thats a long list, I forgot how many games I loved.

Then, if you throw in a SD card adaptor for about £30, you've got MP3, video and even homemade versions of all the Lucasarts point and click games AND Lemmings with touch screen support in lieu of a mouse, which is just perfect.

Extreme Angle 07-15-2007 06:07 AM

I only use my ds once in a blue moon, started using it alot more recently though.
Gonna pick up one of those SD Cards right now, cheers for the info guys.

Extreme Angle 07-15-2007 06:15 AM

Ok where do I pick up one of those cards?
I've seen one which is 1Gb on ebay.
Where did you get the 2Gb? Ta

KingofOldSchool 07-15-2007 07:15 AM

The DS is the only handheld I've ever owned and I love it.

Although it's mainly my girlfriend's, I just use it from time to time.

I don't see what the deal is with the DS having a thing against lefties, I'm a lefty and I use it just fine.

Amazon.com You need to get a player for it though. I got an R4. There are other ones out there too. But yeah you can get an R4 and a microSD 2gb card for around 50-60 bucks on amazon (by buying from one of their other user stores). Best thing I ever bought. For price of 2 DS games can play unlimited amounts now, just mad I didn't get it sooner.

Yeah
I have the M3 Simply with a 2gb micro SD card, got them together in a pack off ebay.

mrslackalack 07-15-2007 10:25 PM

DS Rules. I am looking forward to Zelda, FF XII RW, FF IV, and Sonic RPG for it. I am suprised however a Smash Bros, Mario Party, and Golden Sun 3 have not been made for it yet.

mrslackalack 07-15-2007 10:27 PM

The GBA has one of the most impressive game libaries out there, they have a lot of great games for the system in both new and remade games.

Mario Party is in the works. I've seen screen shots.

I imagine Smash bros DS (if they make one) will be one of the last great Nintendo made DS games before they have a DS2.

I think Golden Sun 3 is going to be for Wii.

Extreme Angle 07-16-2007 04:54 AM

Whats Resident Evil like for it?
I am tempted to buy it...
Mind you i've only had asphalt, wario, mario 64 and mario kart...

road doggy dogg 07-16-2007 10:35 AM

I never really got into the original Game Boy (or Game Boy Colour, or any other version of it) other than Pokemon, and that was fun. When I got a GBA though I freakin' loved it. I probably play more GBA games than DS games on my DS. And even then I play a ton of Mario Kart DS and such. <3 my DS

mrslackalack 07-16-2007 10:18 PM

One thing the DS lacks that the GBA had was they have a lack of great RPGs and not too many imports of games from classic systems. The only games I believe the DS had that was on an other Nintendo system before were FF 3, Mario DS, and Diddy Kong Racing.

I'm with you on the first part, but Nintendo's had a ton of ports for the DS.

And I think the GBA relied on ports and remakes too heavily.

mrslackalack 07-16-2007 11:10 PM

That is true but GBA had some great original titles as well like Golden Sun and Advance Wars.

mrslackalack 07-16-2007 11:15 PM

I know Phantom Hourglass is coming out but an Ocarina of Time for DS would sell like hotcakes and would rock, although rumors are its going to be the launch title for Nintendos next-gen handheld.

Advance wars, which is based on the olf Famicom Wars?

They ran primarily with old hat.
