Former ECW tag champ found dead today

by Dave Meltzer

John Kronus was found dead today at his girlfriend's apartment in New Hampshire. At this point, no other details are available.

Kronus & Perry Saturn, as The Eliminators, were pushed by Paul Heyman as "The Best Tag Team in the World," during much of 1996 and 1997, as multiple-time ECW tag champions. New Jack & Kronus also held the title

They'll be all over wrestler deaths like white on rice for the next 5-10 years.

Whoa, that sucks.:'(

RIP.

Does anyone know if he was still wrestling anywhere?

NeanderCarl 07-18-2007 09:22 PM

ECW has to have the worst record for wrestler deaths of any company, as far as guys dying young who spent a long period of time in that environment. Lucky they went out of business in 2001, or they'd be getting HELL right now from the media. It was a real drug culture in that bingo hall, it seems.

We are not even in Aug yet and this has been one of the worst years for deaths of wrestlers ever. (Bam Bam, Awesome, Ladd, Barr, Skaaland, Bad News, Sherri, Wellington, Benoit, Woman, Kronus)

The Grim Reaper must have a hard on for wrestlers this year.

For some reason, I thought John was already dead (and no, that's not meant to be disrespectful in anyway). Since now's the time, however, rest in peace. I'm not gonna lie and claim I followed Kronus too much, but I did see him in ECW several times, and liked him there.

Jordan 07-18-2007 11:44 PM

How old was he?

Hanso Amore 07-19-2007 12:17 AM

I was surprised he never did anything much after the Eliminators split. I refuse to accept the Gangsta-NAtors as a success. I always thought he was great in the ring, he had a poor look, so that is probably what halted his career.

What Would Kevin Do? 07-19-2007 01:12 AM

RIP.

He opened the first ECW ppv along with Saturn, and the Dudleys.

Just kidding. Rest in Peace. :wavesad:

Paul Heyman did work with a lot of trash.

Yeah, I can't believe that a company that made its name on a roster that was willing to take the sickest of sick bumps would have had anything to do with drugs...
