What is your favorite science fiction movie?

More specifically, which has to do with space, aliens, the future, etc

For example:

2001: A Space Odyssey
War of The Worlds
Independance Day
Aliens
Transformers
Mars Attacks :shifty:

etc etc

Boondock Saint 07-20-2007 02:44 AM

Blade Runner
Back to the Future 1/2/3
Alien(s)
Minority Report
The Terminator 1/2
A Clockwork Orange (if you'd count it)

I do like Sci Fi elements though.

Maybe my genre grouping is just different. I'd call Alien a horror, Aliens or T2 an action movie, Back To the Future a comedy, Star Wars and adventure, War of the Worlds a thriller, and Spiderman a comic book movie.
Obv, they're sci fis too I guess.

I'm just being anal, but I think of Sci Fi as garbage shit like Dune and stuff, which I hate.

Star Wars, I guess. I don't like "pure" Sci Fi, and Star Wars is a Western/Samurai flick set in space.

Science Fiction Shows, I could probably give a list...

Silent 07-20-2007 04:05 PM

Star Wars and Spaceballs. :shifty:

Stickman 07-20-2007 05:01 PM

Not a sci fi kinda guy. Is the terminator sci fi? He is a robot.

I did like Men In Black and Independance Day.

Shaggy 07-20-2007 07:22 PM

Star Wars
The Matrix
Serenity

I'd call Terminator Sci Fi. It deals with Time Travel and has naked guys with shotgun.

ClockShot 07-20-2007 09:45 PM

The Abyss
Back to the Future trilogy
Planet of the Apes (the one starring Charlton Heston)
Star Wars
The Matrix

Kane Knight 07-21-2007 09:30 AM

They remade Planet of the Apes and put that old gun nut in it?

loopydate 07-22-2007 12:15 PM

Star Wars and Serenity

Every Star Trek movie, ever.
Star Wars Episode III, IV, V and VI
Minority Report
Serenity's not too bad, either.

Does V for Vendetta count? It's in the future and stuff.

YOUR Hero 07-22-2007 05:06 PM

Starship Troopers

D Mac 07-22-2007 05:51 PM

Wrath of Khan

I think it's great.

ClockShot 07-22-2007 07:48 PM

Pitch Black was pretty cool.

Mr Regal 07-22-2007 08:04 PM

had a conversation about the greatness of Starship Troopers with someone not long ago. It is an awful film, but at the same time it is utterly brilliant. It's a strange one.

The Matrix is greatness. Star Wars obviously. Aliens. Blade Runner.

I love sci fi and it is a massive genre with an incredible amout of great films. Too many to think of really.

It's hilarious. It's bad science fiction, and it's even a bad movie in a lot of respects, but the satire is marvelous.

Kane Knight 07-22-2007 08:37 PM

Forgot Serenity. That movie pwns Star Wars.

YOUR Hero 07-22-2007 08:52 PM

Yeah Regal, you've pretty much summed up Starship Troopers.

And Serenity was a very good movie, don't buy many DVDs, but that one made it on my shelf.

alongside the Buttman DVD Boxset

PapaGeorgio 07-22-2007 09:52 PM

Like many not overly huge on Sci-Fi but my favorite is probably Logan's Run. Also big on Mars Attack! like someone else mentioned.
