What's your biggest yet most trivial peev?

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy TNA but one of the things that annoys me most is that ALL of their wrestlers have monikers.

"The Monster" Abyss
"The Icon" Sting
"The Instant Classic" Christian Cage
"The War Machine" Rhino
"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels
"The Warrior" Senshi
"Primetime" Elix Skipper
"The Tennesse Cowboy" James Storm
"Wildcat" Chris Harris
"The Somoan Submission Machine" Somoa Joe
"Black Machismo" Jay Lethal
"The Guru" Sonjay Dutt
"The Phenominal" AJ Styles
"The Punisher" Andrew Martin
"Showtime" Eric Young
"The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett

The thing that annoys me most about it is that the announcers / commentators have to constantly use it. They can't just say Abyss. They HAVE to say "The Monster" Abyss.

So, what relatively trivial things annoy you guys?

IC Champion 08-19-2007 08:14 PM

Instant Classic is an awsome moniker.

Crossrine 08-19-2007 08:18 PM

I think I got one, how the WWE storylines do stupid things that dont make any physical sense at all. For example at Saturday nights main event how Vince McMahon saw the mirror "morph" into his former self. How the fuck would everyone at home see that along with him? The story lines do stupid stuff like that and walk away from it like nothing dumb just happened..

XL 08-19-2007 08:36 PM

Yeah that is annoying! And there's loads of examples of it too...

the BuggyCam from WrestleMania
the Randy Orton - UnderTaker stuff
that recent thing with the Hardys / Candice / Simons backstage

all of it junk!

FourFifty 08-19-2007 09:42 PM

I guess my biggest pet peev isn't with wrestling, but with wrestling fans.

Yesterday I was at a mall and I found wrestling shirts in hot-topic.... DX and Cena... I don't want some pseudo pop-culture reject wearing any wrestling swag. Yea, I go in there for band shirts and video game shirts because I suport the bands and I love video games. No big deal. But seriously, wrestling shirts NEED to get out of hot-topic. I could just see some 15 year old spoiled kid who never had to wear hand-me-downs saying "My mom doesn't like me shopping here, so I'm going to here and because I have the emotioal depth of a puddle on the road I'm going to wear these shirts." Seriously, the WWE needs to get the F out of hot topic.
And Spencer's too!
If WWE wants to become mainstream again hot topic is NOT the way to do it. They're reaching out to the shallow demographic that the WWE does not want. Yea, we're faced with plot holes every week, but at least we (as internet fans) are smart enough (for the most part) to figure out who we cheer for and who we boo without hot topic telling us what's cool.

On the subject of wrestling fans....
I don't make fun of nascar or baseball because I don't follow it. I can carry on a decent conversation but I never say someone is wrong because of their point of view. People who watch it on a normal basis have every right to make fun of it, and rip into it. Casual fans who only see it when they feel like it, or when there's nothing better to do, need to shut up because you don't know what you're talking about.
If you're a casual wrestling fan, that's cool. I hope you enjoy what you see, but don't argue with the real fans. You don't know what you're talking about just because you are a jerkoff who only reads the stuff online and wouldn't know good wrestling if it was right in front of their face. If you don't watch TNA then don't rip into TNA. If you don't watch Raw or SmackDown then don't make fun of what you're not watching. Hell, albeit it won't be the same as how it used to be don't insult ECW unless you follow it.
I'm not saying you need to devote 6 hours a week to talk about wrestling. Just keep in mind that if you're not watching on a normal basis and you're opening your damn mouth you don't know what you're talking about. To quote Y2J, Will you please shut THE HELL up?

There, I said it.

The Naitch 08-19-2007 09:44 PM

yeah, the moniker thing is pretty gay. Everyone has one. I bet the TNA Head janitor has one too

"The World's Cleanest Man" Henry Mark.

The Naitch 08-19-2007 09:49 PM

Does Don West have one? I'm pretty sure he does

Crossrine 08-19-2007 09:50 PM

FourFifty 08-19-2007 09:51 PM

I don't think he does.... THAT'S SO BIZARRE!!

Not sure if this is trival, my biggest pet peeve is Bats getting title shot after title shot. Since April he has gotten 8 title shots, Kahli is going to win at Summerslam, so naturally Bats will get 1 more title shot, thus making it 9 title shot since April. He has had as many title shot as HHH has held the title...or close to it. It make a mockery of being number 1 contender.

BigDaddyCool 08-20-2007 11:42 AM

Wait, sorry, I miss counted, Bats has only had 7 title shots, I forgot he was going into Mainia as champion, but still after he loses to Collie, he will get another for the rubber match bumping him up to 8. But anyway 7 title shots is a lot for a career let alone 4 months.

FourFifty 08-20-2007 11:47 AM

THAT'S BECAUSE BATISTA IS THE SECOND GREATEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO THIS SPORT EVER!!!!!!! PEOPLE WILL WATCH HIM AS HE TRIES TO GET THE TITLE AND IT'LL BE FREAKIN' EPIC WHEN IT HAPPENS!!!! [/wwe logic]

No, it will be freakin' epic the second another guy earns a title shot and wins the title in one shot. Lets face it, the last couple of guys to win the title didn't truely earn theuir shot either. I don't call stealing money in the bank or winning a battle royal as earning a title shot. So the moment someone does earn a title shot and wins the title cleanly, it will be fairly epic.

There, I said it.

You've got some issues.

Who the fuck cares if there are wrestling shirts at Hot Topic? Where else would they sell them in stores?

They sell "classic" shirts featuring Snuka and Piper at Urban Outfitters next to the AC/DC shirts.

Anybody Thrilla 08-20-2007 12:24 PM

That sounds pretty sweet. Still, I don't see the problem with wrestling shirts in Hot Topic. I don't think they're searching for fans by selling their shirts there. They're just making their shirts available for people who are already fans. I've never known anybody to become a fan of anything (besides maybe a clothing company) by looking at a shirt with its likeness.

IC Champion 08-20-2007 12:37 PM

I dont think anyone who isnt a wrestling fan would buy a wrestling T-Shirt.

Bad Company 08-20-2007 12:42 PM

Batista does get pretty good pops, the marks really like him.

Crossrine 08-20-2007 12:45 PM

Mainly because the marks have yet to realize he cant carry out a match alone

Bad Company 08-20-2007 12:50 PM

Yeah, true, but at least he's putting asses in seats (moreso than alot of the roster), and people can still carry him to a good match.

Stickman 08-20-2007 03:20 PM

Two moves

The Slingshot and the Abdominal Strech.

BigDaddyCool 08-20-2007 03:47 PM

Another thing that bothers me is that there are too many monsters in WWE. You got Snitski, BDV, Mark Henry, Kahli, Kane, Batista and to a lesser exent Lashley. It is just pointless having that many huge guys.

Yeah, but they are all big and strong, it gets repetive when you have the same match. I mean serious I remember seeing BDV and Mark Henry both destory they same no-name jobber one week, and they both use the standard fat black guy move set of splashes and eating fried chicken. And if BDV wasn't bald, I would have sworn it was the exact same match.

BigDaddyCool 08-20-2007 03:52 PM

BTW, don't get me wrong, I love huge monsters because they need little build up to look like a legit threat to any title.

BTW, I forgot Umaga on that list, but he looks tiny compared to all of those guys.

Innovator 08-20-2007 03:54 PM

I feel the same way. I think thats all creative knows how to book is big man squash matches. Most of these guys are greener than grass but get pushed on their size. Hell even Masters was pushed as a monster with an amazing body, but guys on the next segment and the segment before him have the exact same maybe even better body.

Also, I think Henry had some watermelon and grape drink with him. Big Floppy V just had his chicken.

BigDaddyCool 08-20-2007 03:54 PM

But now that I think about, Umaga is the only monster I really like at the moment.

Only thing that separates Umaga from that list is that he can work

No, I disticintly remember BDV has some sour patch kids as well.

Innovator 08-20-2007 03:56 PM

Ah, I missed that.

This should turn into an Umaga Apprecation Thread, for being an entertaining big guy

LOL

I totally agree with you, they need to build them up so much better than jobber squashes. I mean think about Kane when he 1st arrived. Interrupting matches and kicking the crap out of the actual roster. They did it with Henry on his last run I believe, but since his return, he put the Undertaker out, now what? I mean who's gonna give a damn about a match at Unforgiven when he's really done fuck all since?

Any thread I'm in eventually turns into an Umaga or Boogen apprecation thread...Now that I mention it, Boogen literally is a monster, but not in the same sence as these gaints.

Anybody Thrilla 08-20-2007 04:01 PM

Masters was not pushed as a monster, c'mon.

Honestly, despite not being the best worker on the roster, I wish they'd make Boogen a serious threat, and a heel. He could be like this generations Papa Shango...but good. He has a creepy look going on now, and he plays the part well. I just can't take him as a serious character right now.

Its like BDV crushes him on ECW, and I couldn't give a damn, because Boogen is presented as a sideshow joke

Good point, he says he is the boogey man and he is coming to get you only to be destroyed by Finlay or BDV, it is kinda meaningless. They need to make him not as goofy and quit eating worms.
