So how many theme songs are just ripoffs of old theme songs

for instance Stone Cold's theme is a ripoff of Razor Ramon's and the Big Show's is a ripoff of Diesel's so I'm just wondering how many other times this happened

Jura 08-29-2007 11:09 PM

Jericho's King of the World theme and one of Batista's theme's sound very similar at the beginning. And also maybe one of Kane's old themes.

Innovator 08-29-2007 11:11 PM

Kurt Angle totally ripped off the Patriot :shifty:

Dorkchop 08-29-2007 11:11 PM

95% of TNAs themes are a rip offs of WWE themes.

IC Champion 08-29-2007 11:14 PM

Actually, most are rip offs of WCW theme songs, which is WAY worse.

Xero 08-29-2007 11:45 PM

Nothing worse than a generic rip-off of a generic rip-off.

FourFifty 08-29-2007 11:49 PM

We all know Hassan's theme was just random muslim chanting  What a rip off!

mrslackalack 08-29-2007 11:49 PM

Many of TNAs themes are awful ripoffs of WCW's.

Pepsi Man 08-29-2007 11:53 PM

I will give TNA credit for one theme off the top of my head. "Marvelous Me", used by Scott Hall, sounds a bit like the WWF's Razor Ramon theme at first, but also contains lyrics, and for some reason, I seem to like it.

Batista's old theme was basically just two power chords with a riff over it that sounded like Kane's old melody.

Jordan 08-30-2007 01:43 PM

Well since the are all made by the same guy it makes sense. Am I right? Jim Johnson right? I dunno he he works there anymore.

Loose Cannon 08-30-2007 02:00 PM

god, I'm watching Clash 90 (the one where the Horsemen turned on Sting) and they're are so many ripoffs. Somaon Savage has Michael Myers theme. lol

Jura 08-30-2007 02:11 PM

This guy has uploaded a ton of entrance themes.

Raven's / Serotonin's theme borrows heavily from his WCW theme,
(it's a bit like Nirvana's Come As You Are guitar riff, but slowed down)
but ultimately the song is awsome, so why shouldn't they re-use it?

Point of the day: The song kicks ass

Xero 08-30-2007 04:02 PM

Nash has or at least had a terrible rip-off of the Wolf Pac theme.

BigDaddyCool 08-30-2007 04:45 PM

Didn't Shane Douglas in WCW use the same song Mike Awesome used in ECW?

Chuck Jones 08-30-2007 05:03 PM

Christian's theme in TNA sounds a lot like the theme in his last WWE run.

Is there any way to download the songs off that site? Knowing my luck it's really obvious and I'm missing it.

Corporate CockSnogger 08-30-2007 06:45 PM

Also I never realised Kronik used a Static-X riff

NeanderCarl 08-30-2007 07:32 PM

Val Venis uses a rip-off of Rick Martel's old theme.

Agreed on that... Cant see any links for downloading, which is a shame, seems like he has a huge collection.

Forgot how good DDPs song actually was!

Jura 08-30-2007 08:57 PM

To download the songs you have to register, which is free, and be signed in and there will be a link that says "download". If you are not logged in then it will not be there.

Last I knew, James/Jim Johnston still works with WWE.

Just curious...

Have I just missed it or has no one ever mentioned the fact that London and Kendrick's theme is almost a carbon copy of The Ultimate Warrior's theme?

Back when London used the theme for himself before they started teaming together, he would wear tassels on his boots and run to the ring and act crazy like Warrior too. It was pretty bizarre.

Mr. Nerfect 08-31-2007 07:28 AM

People have mentioned the London & Kendrick one before, just not in this topic.

Batista's theme before he started using "I Walk Alone" was an awesome one. It reminded me of something, but I don't think it was a pre-existing WWE theme. I honestly believe it reminded me of a game I used to play on my Game Boy as a kid. One of the R-Types.

Some themes I don't think are "rip-offs" as much as they have common routes, and people connect the dots a little too much.

I agree with this, provided we're not talking all themes.

Some wrestling themes are so generic, it's like ripping off a scale. So if two of them sound alike, it's only because they're so basic. There are a couple of songs that sound like Kane's, if for no other reason than they use a similar, "heavy" sound, and use a descending chords progression. Batista's is a little more particular, because the Pre "I walk alone" version's melody also sounded a lot like one of Kane's themes prior.

But really, there are a finite number of chords and a finite number of notes, especially when you do what most wrestling themes do--Play power chords and relatively generic riffs.

On the other hand, you get a guy who goes to TNA and uses a virtually idtentical theme, it's safe to call it a knockoff. A lot of the WWE/WWE similarities are just as you said.

El Fangel 08-31-2007 02:39 PM

What about Takers themes? Did he rip himself off, or the old 84 year old in church playing the organ?

Kane Knight 08-31-2007 02:54 PM

Take ripped off the Taco Bell theme.
