Got me thinkin'
THese rate the matches got me thinking. IE HBK/Y2J, Steamboat/Savage as well as Hart/Perfect. When the hell was the last time a main event of a PPV was a wrestling classic. Like a great fucking rasslin match? Especially a large PPV like Mania.

Wow, good question. No idea. Rock/Austin from WM 17 is the only thing coming to mind right now.

It was an amazing heel turn by Stonecold. And it was a pretty good match too.
|
Yeh there hasn't been any epic matches in a LONG time
|
The Main Event at WrestleMania 20 comes to mind. That was an amazing match.
Triple H and Shawn Michaels put on an amazing match. Too bad it ended in a no contest. |
There have been pretty great matches, Michaels/Angle comes to mind, as does Shelton/Michaels, but not many have actually main evented a PPV in a LONG time.
|
mine was Orton/Benoit: SS 04.

It seems like Championship matches are never technical masterpieces.

HHH vs Austin No Way Out 2001
It was on midway through the card but that was to let Rock vs Angle finish the show. The match was still hyped as a main event. |
oh forgot this one, Angle vs Undertaker at No Way Out 2006. That was an excellent match with a clean finish.

Kurt Angle/Shawn Michaels? The wrestlemania match
|
IMO the last 2 incredible PPV matches for me were Orton/Foley at Backlash 04 and HBK/Angle WM 21.
|
The last time a great wrestling match ended a show was probably picked correctly by Loose Cannon. I gotta go with Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton at Summerslam 2004 for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Benoit vs Angle RUmble 03'
