ECW/Smackdown Spoilers for next week *Unforgive Title Match Changed*

Yeah they are taping tonight cause they are going overseas next week.
DARK MATCHES

(1) Jesse and Fetus defeated Los Locos. Match was awful as can be.

(2) Dave Taylor & Paul Burchill defeated ??? & Kevin O'Neil.

ECW TAPING

(1) Boogeyman defeated Matt Striker on a DQ when Big Daddy V got invloved and destroyed him. Striker held Boogeyman on a table and BDV came off the top with a splash driving him through the table.

(2) The Miz defeated Balls Mahoney. Match wasn't to bad. Kelly checked on Balls after the match until Miz grabbed her arm and made her go to the back with him.

- A video on C.M. Punk aired.

(3) Kevin Thorne & Elijah Burke defeated Steven Richards & Tommy Dreamer in what was announced as an Extreme Rules match however no weapons were used. It was pretty decent overall.

(4) C.M. Punk defeated John Morrison to win the ECW Title in about 12 minutes. Punk dominated most of the match. At one point some guys in the floor seats started chanting "steroids" during the match and Morrison just gave them a dirty look. When Punk won, the crowd went nuts.

- Things are being changed over for Smackdown. A fan had a "Michael Vick is my dad" sign but it was taken away.

- The merchandise stand has mostly all Cena and Mysterio stuff. It might not mean anything but they have nothing for any of the guys who are supposedly suspended.

- Nigel McGuinness is at the show. He was seen talking to Justin Roberts in the parking lot where the wrestlers park and enter.

Smackdown Results

The show starts with MVP in the ring in the VIP Lounge. He brings out his new Tag Team Championship partner, Matt Hardy. They showed the recap of MVP making the pin last week. He says he won the match on his own because he is better than Matt. Matt had them show another clip of MVP with both belts on the phone telling someone that he won the Tag titles on his own. Matt comes in to get his belt, sucker punches MVP and takes his belt. Back to the lounge and MVP tells Matt they have a rematch at Unforgiven with Deuce & Domino. He also tells Matt that he has a match tonight as a warm-up against Deuce. He calls for a ref and the guys to clear the ring.

Matt Hardy over Deuce - MVP tripped Deuce and Matt got the pin for the win.

Kenny Dykstra and Victoria come out for a match. Chuck Palumbo's music hits but he never comes out. It plays for several minutes and there's nothing. Victoria gets a make and says that Kenny is a future hall of famer. Kenny says that he has the brightest future on Smackdown and that he's so good that nobody in the back wants to face him. We announces himself the winner by forfeit. There may have been a problem though as a production guy flew over the barricade and ran to the back.

(This segment was retaped - see below. Motorcycle problem?)

Kane & Batista over Finlay & Kane.

Jamie Noble set a leprechaun trap in the back for Hornswoggle using Lucky Charms as bait.

Chuck Palumbo w/ Michelle McCool over Kenny Dykstra w/ Victoria.

In the back, Hornswoggle takes the bait and gets under the trap, Noble pulls the rope but it breaks. He checks and the Cruiserweight belt is under it. He goes for the belt but it gets pulled out and the trap falls on Noble.

Cruiserweight Championship:

Hornswoggle over Jamie Noble via Countout. Noble didn't come out so the ref rang the bell and counted him out. Jamie hit the ring right at the count of 10 but not in time.

I Quit Match: Rey Mysterio over Chavo Guerrero. Rey took out Chavo the same way by hitting his knee with a chair repeatedly while he was hung up in the corner.

After the match, Great Khali comes out and puts the claw on Rey. Batista comes out for the save and takes out Khali. Teddy Long comes out and makes a change the World title match at Unforgiven. It's now going to be Great Khali v. Rey Mysterio v. Batista in a triple threat.

Good for WWE. I mean they only had two great PPV chances to put the title on Punk. Guessing Morrison was on suspended list.

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 09:00 PM

Bingo.

SammyG 09-01-2007 09:02 PM

Bye bye Nitro :(

SammyG 09-01-2007 09:03 PM

How long are these suspensions?

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 09:14 PM

30 days, except one who got 60 days.

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 09:15 PM

MVP has his own talk show now called "In The V.I.P. Lounge" with Matt Hardy.

SammyG 09-01-2007 09:15 PM

Wow, I thought they would be longer. That's actually not enough. I would make it 50 days, with the longer one being 3 months.

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 09:29 PM

Chavo vs. Rey in an "I Quit" Match tonight, so put Chavo on the suspension list.

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 09:33 PM

Punk/Morrison went 12 minutes, and that fans were chanting "STEROIDS!" at Morrison.

gatoconbotas 09-01-2007 09:36 PM

Considering Punk now has the title, and Chavo's in an I quit match, I wonder how many more people we'll see written off publicly?

I mean, they're not announcing names publicly, but with simple logic I wonder how many we'll know...

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 09:45 PM

Kenny Dykstra defeated Chuck Palumbo via forfeit

SammyG 09-01-2007 09:54 PM

Damn.

Mr. Nerfect 09-01-2007 09:55 PM

Sounding good so far, to me. I disagree with some of the decisions of the matches, though. Well just Elijah Burke and Kevin Thorn going over Tommy Dreamer and Stevie Richards. I think the faces should have won that much. It continues Stevie's slight edge over Kevin Thorn, gives Dreamer a win to keep his relevance up, and Burke and Thorn had that falling out when they were in the New Breed, which should screw them up. That's just my opinion, though.

CM Punk going over John Morrison sounds awesome. As much as Morrison has been entertaining as fuck recently, to have him take the ECW Title off-screen with him while he is suspended is not a good move. Punk has a title shot, he finally beats Morrison, and this is the first TV World Title change in some time. Also, Punk is now a World Champion, and the best one in the WWE, at that. That is something to be happy about.

I love the way they are writing off the suspended parties. Morrison should play embarrassed that he talked a lot of shit, and just disappear for a bit and maybe come back repackaged (yeah, yet again, but that seems to be what the John Hennigan character does). Chavo Guerrero will no doubt get injured in his match with Rey, or he will be removed from the SmackDown! roster when he says "I quit." If the WWE wanted to be really clever, they'd have Theodore Long getting rid of Chavo after he quits piss off Vickie Guerrero some, and she gets in Kristal's ear about the wedding. I don't want to see Vickie take over or anything, but something needs to disrupt this wedding.

It's going to be interesting to see how they explain the RAW suspensions. I'd have William Regal suspend Randy Orton (and maybe King Booker, depending on whether or not he goes) and having Mr. McMahon accuse Regal of abusing his power, and make their suspensions con-current, and when Regal lets Orton back, he can also return. The WWE could turn this into a slight Regal vs. Orton program. Regal could get a great match out of Orton, and beat the shit out of him as the WWE's way of telling Randy to not be a cock. Of course, Orton will probably be gone for 60 days, but they could have Regal take some time off and help train guys, or something. I'm campaigning now: William Regal vs. Randy Orton for either Survivor Series, Armageddon/Starrcade (I'm hoping they change the name) or the Royal Rumble. Then they can move back into John Cena vs. Randy Orton for WrestleMania, with John Cena, Sr. at ringside, ooo drama. Don't make it for the WWE Championship, though. Johnny is the golden boy, but even he needs a break from the WrestleMania main event every once in a while.

Why am I talking about this in a SmackDown!/ECW thread? Because the spoilers aren't complete yet, so there's nothing worth discussing, other than I was a little disappointed with how Matt Hardy and MVP's title win came off on SmackDown!. I'd rather see Matt Hardy and MVP reveal there is a begrudging respect for each other, and a desire to be WWE Tag Team Champions. It's just a small thing, but I was hoping that MVP would reveal something about their strategy in a backstage segment, telling Matt that he did a good job soaking up even more punishment than usual, so that MVP could come in stronger and finish them off. Have MVP tell Matt Hardy that seeing as he got the pin, he will hold onto the belts, just to motivate Matt Hardy. Matt gets annoyed, because he did all the hard work, but agrees to play ball, somewhat, trying to impress MVP, with the US Title always in his sights.

This week sounds like a more positive step for the angle. MVP had Matt Hardy as his guest, and I'm hoping there is some explanation as to the relationship between the two, and they're not going to go the John Cena/Shawn Michaels route, and make it look the WWE Tag Team Championship doesn't matter. That MVP is helping Matt Hardy win matches so they look good gives me a lot of hope for it.

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 09:56 PM

ROFL the Dykstra/Palumbo match is being restarted because Palumbo's bike wouldn't start backstage.

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 10:04 PM

In the restart, Palumbo defeats Dykstra.

The people allegedly getting suspended are Randy Orton (probably the 60 day suspension), John Morrison, Umaga, Edge, Gregory Helms, Chavo Guerrero, Funaki, William Regal, Mr. Kennedy and Charlie Haas.

Edge and Helms won't be written off storyline-wise, as they are injured, and can go right under the radar. I'm surprised they're writing off Chavo, to be honest, as they could have just had him disappear. Funaki got his knee pulverized by Chavo, so they'll probably just make him out to be injured, and not say a word about him.

William Regal will need to be written off, as he plays a large part of the RAW. Unless the suspensions just mean he won't wrestle, in which case, he could remain as RAW General Manager. Mr. Kennedy will need to be written off, and to keep in tow with his current happenings, they will probably have him go on a search for his biological father. Charlie Haas might not even be addressed, but I guess they could have him get overconfident and challenge Paul London or Brian Kendrick to a match like the one Shelton made, where Shelton declared that if he lost, he would kiss his partner. Haas could vow to leave RAW if he loses to Brian Kendrick, or something.

John Morrison will probably go into a shame spiral after losing his ECW Championship, and Umaga will probably lose the IC Title to Jeff Hardy, which I don't really want to see happen, but ah well. They might have Umaga just go nuts and disappear into the sunset. I'd actually prefer a returning D'Lo Brown or Matt Anoai (just to be ironic) defeat Umaga for the Intercontinental Title. I'm a bigger fan of D'Lo, but having Umaga replaced by a second bad-ass Samoan, this one without a stupid gimmick, could go a long way to re-establishing Rosey, and getting their money's worth out of him. Fuck, I'd even take The Sandman beating Umaga in an Extreme Rules Match for the title.

So hold on, is this an angle? Did Dykstra win because Palumbo didn't show up, only for it to reveal that he had engine troubles, and then he gets another match? That will only be acceptable if it is revealed Victoria tinkered with it later in the show, and she takes a Full Throttle during the match.

Mr. Nerfect 09-01-2007 10:08 PM

That picture looks like it was taken from WWE.com. I guess they must be doing a Kurt/Khali with this, and promoting it in an attempt to build up the ratings. I think that is a bit silly, as Punk's win could be a huge surprise for those who watch the show. I guess advertising it could get the ratings up, though. I'm torn on that kind of promoting.

Outsider 09-01-2007 10:11 PM

Yeah it's on there. I emailed them when they did it with Edge's title win. Pissed me right off.

Chief, it's taped so it will be edited to look like Dykstra never won a match.

Wouldn't that have been for Morrison's title victory instead?

Loose Cannon 09-01-2007 10:32 PM

haha, didn't even think about that. they both should.

Loose Cannon 09-01-2007 10:33 PM

if Umanga loses the Title to Hardy that will be hillarious as well considering how he got the Title to begin with.

- Rey Mysterio defeated Chavo Guerrero in an "I Quit" match.

* Most heat: Chavo Guerrero, he might want to be escorted to his car, the fans hate him so much.

KingofOldSchool 09-01-2007 10:53 PM

ROFL

Khali came out and put Mysterio in the vise grip. Just as Rey is about down, Batista runs out and attacks Khali and then goes to check on Mysterio. Teddy Long comes out and announces a change for the main event at Unforgiven. It will be a triple threat match, Khali vs. Mysterio vs. Batista.

Corndad 09-01-2007 10:57 PM

ya know was thinking the ECW title is turning into just as bad a curse as the World Title. Look at the people who have had /be destined to have the ECW World Title.

RVD- No longer in WWE
Show- No longer in WWE
Lashley- Injuried
Benoit- Yea you know the story.
Morrision- Suspended.

You guys sure you want Punk with Title. Geez.

Big Show and RVD both chose to leave so I don't see how that should be considered a curse.

So what's that pointless shit about the motorcycle not working backstage you posted? They re-tape matches all the time, like Victora vs. Michelle McCool a few weeks back, but why would something backstage be known to the fans and have a bearing on the match?

How did Dykstra even win by forfeit, anyway?

You've got to be fucking kidding me? The WWE finally does something right with Batista, and gives him a chance to cool down, and then he just gets placed in the main event. I guess the DQ win over Khali at Summerslam is almost justification, but can't it wait until No Mercy?
