Rate the Match #4: Kurt Angle versus Chris Benoit @ WrestleMania X-Seven
 

Rob Van Dam versus Jerry Lynn @ Living Dangerously '99 = 8.9

Arguably one of the greatest Original 'E-C-DUB' matches of all-time scores an impressive 8.9 beating out Flair versus Sting, but staying slightly behind Jericho versus Michaels. However based on the comments, in the near future we will have to rate this match up against RVD and Lynn's other classic bout at Hardcore Heaven '99; as many feel that match was better than this one. Personally, I enjoyed this match better than the Hardcore Heaven match but like I said, we'll have to rate that match between all of us to find a consensus.

It may be a bit touchy rating Chris Benoit matches, but lets be honest. Despite what he did, he was involved in some of the most athleticly memorable and classic wrestling matches of the 90's and the 00's. In this match he faced Kurt Ange on the biggest stage of them all. For me, this match was off the charts. The mat wrestling to begin the match has been rarely done before and I loved how the match progressed; how physical it became and how many counters occured. It was not about titles, it was just about two of the finest workers in professional wrestling history, wrestling one another.

A lot of people said this was a great match. It's a good match, yes, but great match, no. There's something missing that makes it exciting. That and I felt that the sudden pinfall at the end came out of nowhere and hurt the match. Personally, I enjoyed the Ultimate Submission match from Backlash more than this.

Out of 10, I'll give it 7.5.

8. I personally enjoyed their Royal Rumble 2003 match more... but this match was still great. Good build up too.

I'm gonna go with 8.0 as well. I enjoyed their Backlash match much more, and then their Rumble match had me drooling. This was their first one on one encounter if I remember correctly, so it's not surprising that it's not their best. Still a good match and a damn fine midcard match on what I consider to be the single best event in wrestling history.

I loved this match. For the first 5 or so minutes they don't even swing a fist, they just wrestle. It was my favorite PPV I have ever seen with so many good matches... I give this match a 9, just awesome.

I'll give it an 8. Not as classic as their match at the '03 Rumble or the cage match from Raw, but this one was still damn good.

Good match but overlooked considering the other great matches that happened on WM X7 and they had an incredible match at RR 03.

I just re-watched this match a few moments ago and still have to give it a 9 rating. It is definitely one of my favourite matches.
