Virtual Memory
Apparently my virtual memory is too low. I have a few questions about that.
First off my system is a Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP Professional. Anyways, could my low virtual memory explain for the persisting freeze-ups of my IE? I'm usually logged on to other programs (i.e. AIM, MSN, WMP, etc.) while using IE. Secondly, how do I decrease the build-up in my virtual memory? (increase it again) Any sort of advice would be appreciated. :wavesad: |
Yes that could be the reason it's freezing up. To save up memory all I can think of is to only open a few programs at a time. Or get more memory. You can get some good stuff pretty cheap.

Isn't virtual memory something that you can increase in your computer settings? I rmember having to do that on my mates computer before.

Yeah I increased the initial virtual memory the computer has at one time.
It's like 450 to 768 MB, but now the initial memory is beyond what's recommened (382). Is that a good idea? |
