Is Cena really hurt?

Did Cena really rip his pec, or is this some sort of work? For such a serious injury, there is no way he could have finished the match, and we would have seens the muscle ball up under the skin.

But at the same time, Cena doesn't sell shit. So that is the biggest argument for it being real.

Discuss.

Londoner 10-03-2007 02:23 PM

I've been wondering this myself, especially since its right before he was going to drop the title(possibly).

BigDaddyCool 10-03-2007 02:25 PM

It could be a way of getting the title off of him and giving him an excuss to get off of tv for a while all without losing.

Some of the match doesn't add up.

Jeritron 10-03-2007 02:27 PM

maybe he just lost his smile and didn't want to job it clean. I've heard of lost smiles taking up to 6-8 months to find

IC Champion 10-03-2007 02:28 PM

I'm skeptical myself.

Jeritron 10-03-2007 02:29 PM

What makes you think they'd work something like this just to avoid jobbing the title off him clean?
If they wanted to get around that they'd a) keep the title on him or b) do a screwjob or something and keep him the focus of television while he chases it

Wasn't it a pectoral muscle injury that caused Taker's last abscence? He had a steel cage match and a Mark Henry/Edge beatdown with it.

IC Champion 10-03-2007 02:30 PM

It is John Cena, and he is Superman, as long as Superman can't compete, Superman can't lose.

Besides, the one Cena has been built up, to give the big win to Orton would be a complete waste, I'm sure even they could see that.

Jeritron 10-03-2007 02:32 PM

Seems like nobody really gets a conclusive title run these days anyways.

Undertaker gets injured with the belt, then Edge.
Batista a couple years ago, Cena now, RVD gets pulled over with weed.
Can't anyone just be selected to win and drop it cleanly when their time is up.
Theres always been injuries, but it seems like theres been more reigning champions injured in the past 2 years than there had ever been in WWE history beforehand

He rip his bicep, had it really taped up and it still looked awful. Plus, Undertaker works through all sorts of injuries because he is the greatest of all men. It isn't that he no-sells, he is just that tough.

RVDmark 10-03-2007 02:56 PM

Thats because they are still using the same champions. I'm not a wrestler but doing that sort of thing for a year must be a MASSIVE drain on you. Its a real shame to see this happen to Cena. I didn't like him with the belt, but I was thinking that this match with Randy was going to be a good match. I like Orton's current character and felt they were playing it well. Now with the big match off, something big needs to happen Sunday night, a surprise return, a screwjob (which would mean something), Jeff Hardy ME push, well booked programming ().

Also there should be more promo's on the PPV's. Everything seems so segmented now. Video promo of last month covering the next match, Have said match, show some kind of video to give them time to set up the next match, repeat.

The PPV's back in the late 90's always had segments and transitions between matches, sometimes matches just happened on the fly.

Although if Vince is reading this, if Jericho is returning Sunday night, please let him do a half hour promo with Mr Kennedy and Santino Marella. You have the power, make it happen. Also fire all the writers who think cock jokes are funny more than once.

LOL

WWE FORGOTTEN NOTE #134: It is, in fact, possible for Superstars to lose a title and not look bad doing so.

WWE FORGOTTEN NOTE #135: The Creative Team = Suck, so above rule is no longer valid.

Fox 10-03-2007 04:02 PM

He is most definitely hurt.

The WWE wouldn't spend 3 weeks leading up to a PPV with an Orton/Cena storyline, only to "injure" him the week of the PPV so that they could throw together some other main event. That's not even bait-and-switch. It's just horrible strategy.

Cena finished out the match and the aftermath beating because he's a professional and a tough SOB. I give him credit just for that. That RKO on the announce table must have hurt like a bitch.

Stickman 10-03-2007 04:07 PM

At least he didn't have a bad concussion from getting jumped at a bar in Albany.

Lord-Of-Darkness 10-03-2007 04:07 PM

The surgery pics on WWE.com are a bit of a give away too. And yeah, what Fox said

That could be anyone under the knife. Also, I think he is legit hurt because he no sells everything. But there is still a little doubt.

Mr. JL 10-03-2007 04:19 PM

I think if the WWE were going to *script* an injury like this they'd do a little better than to book it via hiptoss from Cena.

Exactly. They'd write them out if they were planning it. Like have them run over by Rikishi or something.

BigDaddyCool 10-03-2007 04:22 PM

meh, anyhow.

Tommy Gunn 10-03-2007 05:15 PM

SVR 2008 will be delayed till early next year so that THQ/Yukes can remove hip tosses from the game.

St. Jimmy 10-03-2007 05:22 PM

He must've been moving Hogan's couch.

I'd LOL if they were a KO move in the next game.

Disturbed316 10-03-2007 05:25 PM

You could see a MASSIVE red patch on Cena's arm after the muscle popped.

"Yukes have just announced that John Cena will be the only superstar in the game to have a third finisher. In WWE 24/7 mode, in any 3 on 1 handicap match playing as John Cena against 3 superstars, you can double-tap the R3 button and overcome the odds by hitting the HIPTOSS OF DOOM and putting yourself out of the match. Keep that win/loss tally in check kids!"

Londoner 10-03-2007 05:45 PM

Would be even funnier if they only made it a KO move when you do a hiptoss on Cena and no one else.

Crossrine 10-03-2007 05:58 PM

Found the match for those who would like to "analyze" for themselves

Crossrine 10-03-2007 06:03 PM

At the arm drag spots around 4:50 he starts to stretch out his arm and pressure his right pec.

SammyG 10-03-2007 06:11 PM

lol @ 3:06, does Kennedy say reverse something? Pretty loud.

Jura 10-03-2007 06:14 PM

I tore my right pectoral muscle clicking on this thread.

SammyG 10-03-2007 06:14 PM

Yeah, Cena not using the right arm at all.

SammyG 10-03-2007 06:16 PM

Way weak STFU. Poor Cena :( Hope he has a speedy recovery.

chrisat928 10-03-2007 06:18 PM

You can read his lips after the match, "Is Randy coming?"

Mercury Bullet 10-03-2007 06:19 PM

Kennedy and Cena have a nice little chat about it in the corner too.

Ya I caught that too, cant make out what they're saying but you see their lips moving

Lord-Of-Darkness 10-03-2007 06:27 PM

That STFU looked helluva weak, understandably.

But you have to laugh from a storyline perspective.

Mr.Cena: I won't let them strip you of the title, I'm going to fight

Mr.Cena gets his ass kicked by Orton.

Cena gets stripped anyway.

Tommy Gunn 10-03-2007 06:45 PM

I wonder if this was a just a case of freak bad luck, or the gruelling schedule finally took it's tole on Cena's body. A botched hip toss tearing a pectoral muscle just doesn't sound right, you hear stories of wrestlers in big pushes hiding their injuries so maybe Cena's pectorial muscle had been bothering him for a while but finally tore badly on Monday.

Stickman 10-03-2007 07:05 PM

must be the roids

Or maybe he's been juicing.

Most of these injuries get reported long before they turn serious. It's unlikely
Cena's
slipped under the radar. Possible, but unlikely.

However, something which tends to increase the hazards of even simple moves is juicing.
Cena's
certainly bulked up over the last couple of years, you know.

Woah. WTF happened to my post?
