What would be your reaction if the Saveus222 videos turn out to be...
For the return of none other than John Morrison!
I think it would be pretty cool. I mean, I'd like to see Y2J back eventually, but WWE can "reveal" the videos as leading up to the return of John Morisson as WWE's Savior. I guess a lot of people would be disappointed but I will be quite pleased. I HATE obvious angles and this one is so obviously Y2J thats its not even funny and not even hilarious and doesnt even tickle my groin, so I'd like a SURPRISE! JOHN MORISSON! What about YOU, BROTHER! ? http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/Bios/hogan_sun.jpg BROTHER! :?: |
Everyone will be let down because they built themselves up for it.
Honestly, if it isn't Jericho the best alternative would be Michaels. He'd be a let-down, but not the size of Morrison. WWE knows that they have to do something big with it. Wasting it on Morrison would be an ENORMOUS mistake. |

Michaels would suck badly to be it, even worse then Y2J or heck, even worse than if it was Mideon. |
So you're saying that Jericho would be considered a sucky choice?

Damn, now I want it to be Mideon.

A surprise is a bad idea.
Swerving the people for the sake of swerving people is always a bad idea. Building up people's hopes and then giving them something else is a bad idea. Are we seeing a trend here? WWE wanted to get people hyped, and they did. There's a decent chance it's Jericho, though I'm not gonna jump on the fucktard bandwagon and start blowing my load on it. However, this "Too obvious" shit is stupid. WWE really doesn't want people to be confused. By the way, if you want to see how ambiguous clues can lead to disappointment, go to the Ethan Haas websites. Everyone pissed themselves over how this was for the Colverfield movie, and now they hate the makers of the game for a conclusion that they themselves drew. "You led us on!" Well, no, they did it themselves, but that doesn't change their reaction. A reaction which hurts business. |

Surprises have led to some pretty big moments in pro wrestling. Can we say nWo, heel McMahon/Austin 3:16 era really taking off, Corporate Rock, just to name a few?

Morrison would be a huge let down. I think everyone has built themselves up so much that it's Jericho, that even if it turns out to be HBK, anyone else would be a let down.
|
I'm done geeking out over "SAVE_US.222". HBK,Y2J, Nitro, Hogan, Homestar Runner, a dead rat, whatever. I'll geek out over it when it happens, but not now.
It's now all about this video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CR3phqnjgxg |

If your looking for surprises and a lack of obviousness, then maybe don't watch WWE.

Spoiler Warning: It is Boogen
|
I thought the Spoiler was that its the debut of HOLOGRAPHIC Cena! Instead of Real Cena, you get an image of Cena projected into the ring that defeats the majority of the roster. Also because its Holographic Cena, he is even more immune to damage!

I actually keep thinking of who it could be besides Chris Jericho, because for the same reasons as PCM, it does seem fairly obvious. KK seems to think this is good, and I don't completely disagree, as it is being done in style, but when Chris Jericho initially debuted, you didn't really know "JERICHO" was going to flash up on the screen and send people into a frenzy.
Jericho won't be a disappointment, and while John Morrison would be, I think it could potentially be a good disappointment. Like Randy Orton with his RNN updates. When Chris Jericho originally claimed to be saving the WWE, it was a heelish thing (although so awesome the fans all cheered it, which led to a quick face turn), but the original plan was for it to be cocky and arrogant. As much as I love Jericho, the "save_us.222" thing is quite literal right now. John Morrison coming out as "Johnny Christ" at No Mercy, and claiming to be the one to save us all, would be absolutely awesome in a "Fuck, we don't want to see you!" way. I think it would be some good heat for him. HOWEVER, it would be a good idea to have Jericho interrupt this, and tell Morrison to "SHUT...THE HELL...UP!" An initial disappointment before the big reveal would be great...possibly even better than the straight reveal (as we get the high coming off a low we don't think we're going to see past). The Morrison reveal on its own would be pretty shitty without the Jericho payoff. The person I originally saw doing this, was Edge, but Morrison is a better choice just because of his gimmick's similarities with Chris Jericho's. Just the whole rock star vibe, complete with his mocking promos on ECW. It'd be great in a sense that Morrison could get a big boost from feuding with Jericho. ECW is meant to be kind of a developmental league, and Morrison is getting pretty good. It might be time to give him another run on RAW (even though he just moved to ECW). Also, on RAW, he can be with Melina, which is good for them, and it allows that relationship to be revisited. |
If it is Jericho, I think it will still be a suprise. Maybe not to us but to the non-internet fans who won't necessarily know what this is about.
|
If it's Jericho I might actually watch some sort of wrestling.

Like everyone's said, everyone is looking into this to make it be whoever they want it to be, which is good and bad I want it to be Jericho, but I'm more than prepared to be dissapointed, so if it is Jericho I'll be pleasantly surprised that WWE did something I wanted them to do |
No, I don't think it's good to be so obvious. I think people getting hyped for one thing and then another occuring is almost universally bad. There's a pretty big difference, and it's not even all that subtle.
In short, being obvious is neither good nor bad, but being obvious when the answer is not the obvious one is fairly bad. It's a negative influence because fans feel betrayed, let down, etc. Which is understandable, even if they're hyping themselves up, as is often the case. If they don't want it to be Jericho, a video both reminiscent of Y2K and with "Clues" that mean "Jericho" are a bad approach. It's not that you cannot be cryptic, but rather if you're not cryptic, it's a bad idea to come up with something out of left field. They've seeded in the mark fandom that it is Jericho, because they've dropped all these "hints." Now, did they intend to do so? I don't know, but we're already assuming that it's "obvious," So it's no stretch to assume some level of intent. But hey, if you're not a Bush supporter, you love Osama, right? |
people are not always knowing about the scoops, so Jerico will be a surprise to most people.
|
Yeah, right.
People are still stupid enough to think that wrestling fans are so non-savvy. It's amazing. |

While we're on the topic of the Chris Jericho video, apparently the second one pointed more towards Shawn Michaels. I hope that's just a red herring. I want my Jericho back, damn it. |
But yeah, what I wouldn't object to is the cryptic videos being for Chris Jericho, but John Morrison taking credit for them, to set up a swerve, so we think we are going to be disappointed, and then Jericho shows up and sets everything right in the world. Kind of like a "double swerve", where we think we're going to get duped, but then things end up alright.
So to answer the thread question: the videos should not be for John Morrison, but Morrison somehow getting involved would not be so bad. |
