Bullshit!

Penn and Teller's show.

It's infotainment, and fun as Hell. I've noticed many fans take it a little too seriously, but in terms of being amusement, it's all good. Anyone have a particular favorite issue/episode?

I loved the segment where they got people to ban dihydrogen monoxide.

Then there's the Boy Scouts ep.

LoDownM 10-14-2007 01:54 AM

The bottled water one was great.

I loved the "water stuard."

I also loved it when they brought him back as the Maitre D' in "The Best." The guy really piles on the shit so well.

Funky Fly 10-16-2007 04:35 AM

've seen the first season on DVD. Pretty fantastic. What season are they on now?

IC Champion 10-16-2007 12:44 PM

Downloading season One, Two and Three now.

Season 5 is playing on Showtime.

The first four seasons are available on DVD.

I wish I had Showtime, but short of a book deal, I don't have the cash.

Don't think you'll be disappointed.

There are some episodes I like less than others, but all in all, it's very entertaining.

IC Champion 10-20-2007 04:56 PM

Just watch it last night, the first one was on "talking to the dead" pretty good, not anything I didn't already know, but you'd be surprised how many suckers believe that shit.

I also skipped ahead and watched "War on Drugs" and "Gun Control". Both pretty good, and I now see where gun toting American's are coming from.

IC Champion 10-20-2007 09:15 PM

Their pretty libertarian though.

IC Champion 10-20-2007 09:17 PM

They make me feel like taking advantage of suckers, considering how much Bullshit! there is out there that people buy.

Unashamedly so.

I definitely don't agree with their deal on gun control, Hell, I don't agree with a lot of what they say, but it's fun, no less.

Some of their arguments are stupid.

"Who will rob or rape with a 50% chance that their victim will have a gun?"

Actually, guys, it's been demonstrated that LTL (Less than lethal) defenses are not a deterrent. Not because they're not lethal, but because they tend to not be used. People are prone to freeze when using even a less than lethal weapon on an attacker, which brings in another problem:

If you freeze with a gun, you've just given your assailant a weapon.

People aren't more likely to fire with a firearm.

Nor are crime rates significantly lower in states with more guns.

They are in some (Vermont), but actually higher in others (Texas; ironically, they fail to mention this, but then later in the series bring it up when thrashing the death penalty).

But, again, I don't watch for cold hard facts. I watch because they're fucking hilarious.

IC Champion 10-21-2007 12:19 AM

Yeah, watching them bash other people's beleif is entertaining, and I don't really agree with them on gun control either, but it's written into the costitution, which by the way is in no way out dated.

Also, watching them bash religion and Mother Theresa was fucking awesome too.

But yeah, some shit should be taken with a grain of salt.

Skippord 10-21-2007 02:57 AM

I love the episode about Manners. I did however feel that the one about Mount Rushmore was stretching

Except, of course, the argument that the comma there means something completely different is faulty to begin with. They actually have to ignore not only period grammar, but modern grammar in order to make that argument. In fact, while they claim that this is thre only Constitutional instance of a "comma" being used as simply a stop (Which isn't the argument Constitutionalists make, BTW, it's a strawman), I can't name another instance where the Framers included, in either the body of the Bill of Rights, a statement such as the one that precedes the comma WITHOUT being conjoined to the later statement.

It's a dishonest argument from a street juggler and a party magician. But it's still entertaining.

Obviously, but still entertaining.

Kane Knight 10-21-2007 10:15 PM

Did you see the one on prophecies yet? Deals with Nostradamus and crap? I love what they do with the ancient prophecy "The Wheels on the Bus."

Kane Knight 10-21-2007 10:15 PM

One of the things I like about the series is most of the time, right or wrong, they're going after hucksters.

Yeah, I watched it today, fucking halarious.

Kane Knight 10-21-2007 11:59 PM

That may be one of my favorites, simply because of the shit the "Experts" themselves pull!

"You can add or drop a letter."

IC Champion 10-22-2007 12:00 AM

I love how they hate religion.

I killed myself laughing at that one, like how fucking ridiculous can one be?

Mind boggeling even...

BigDaddyCool 10-22-2007 08:10 PM

They are all pretty good. But yeah, I take it with a grain of salt because lets face it, magical comedians are presenting it.

The sad thing is, these people do exist in real life. I don't doubt P&T sometimes trick people and make them look bad, but these unbelievable fuckers are believable because you can find them wherever yuppies and the like live.

IC Champion 10-23-2007 08:26 PM

"Elvis didn't do no drugs."

Kane Knight 10-23-2007 09:21 PM

I found myself repeating that for days. :D

IC Champion 10-23-2007 10:31 PM

Also, AA is Bullshit!

IC Champion 10-24-2007 02:42 PM

I will say, their Walmart episode itself, was Bullshit!

I didn't see the Wal-star-mart one. What was bullshit?

I don't know, just that they're all for Walmart.

thecc 10-24-2007 05:50 PM

I haven't watched this show in awhile but one of my favorites was the one they did on bottled water.

IC Champion 10-25-2007 09:01 PM

I hate how they bash the left so much.

Yeah that is very true, I also get the feeling they hate the left period.

But stupid people are stupid people, like the lefty's from the College episode.
