Wow, The lengths that WWE's going to.

I went to Wal-mart the other day for things, and I wandered into the toy section to check out the wrestling figures. I was looking at the $10.99 Deluxe Aggression figures, and noticed that there was a large WWE sticker on the back, right in the middle. I was curious, so I peeled the edge up, and guess who was staring back at me from beyond the grave. Yup, Chris "Murderator" Benoit . I wonder how much farther they're going to take this "He never existed" thing. My guess is they're going to outfit HHH with a metal skeleton, and send him back to 1966 to Pedigree his mom. Has anybody else seen anything crazy that goes beyond not mentioning his name, and taking his matches off of DVDs?

I've seen nothing over here. I mean you can still buy his DVD/figures/tshirts.

The Fugitive 10-18-2007 04:29 AM

You're an Australian, correct Impact? Where the hell are you seeing Benoit merchandise?

I can't say I've ever seen bullshit stickers covering up his image like MFH mentioned, but I would have better luck parting the ocean than finding anything Benoit-related. Within a week of the news breaking of what he did, everything was removed here.

I just used the Gamestop computer's to search for the Benoit DVD the other day, I actually requested every copy within an 300 mile radius to be sent to my store, Me and another employee of mine, pissed the Assistant Manager off about an month ago, making Chris Benoit jokes all day.

I almost ended up putting custom made stickers on the SVR2008 Pre-order back with Free Chris Benoit w/ Rug & Bible Action Figure free with pre-order, would of been funny, yet tasteless at the same time.

I actually was at a store in NJ and saw a whole wall of ONLY Benoit figures, so that was weird.

Sounds like the makings of a Full Moon horror flick.

"I see dead figures."

At work the other day we got in this mini aggression figures...on the back it had like 10 wrestlers and one of them had the WWE sticker over it....

I peeled it off and yep....Chris Benoit....No Benoit in the box but his picture was covered ont he back....

At the Target in my city they had a blow out sale of Chris Benoit toys around Septemberish. Literally like $5 toys were being sold for $1.50. Not to mention shirts and DVD's

When I got my WrestleMania 20 DVD in the mail, the main event match featured Triple H tapping out to the STFU. Also, in my sig are some screenshots from the DVD

Hey Naitch, I'm about THIS far away from stealing your sig.

I do wonder though, is WWE or the toy company responsible for this?

Lord-Of-Darkness 10-19-2007 08:08 AM

With WWE taking away his matches, match listings, title reigns, video game likenesses etc. are you really asking?

JB High Fi has the DVD, Toys'R'Us has figures, so does Target and other stores like that.

Odds are on WWE.

Theo Dious 10-19-2007 12:59 PM

I wouldn't doubt it, but what makes me wonder is that the expense is all on the part of the toy company to get that done, and I can imagine a toy company not wanting to be terribly obvious about the fact that they've made a bunch of toys of a guy who murdered his family and then killed himself, launching the biggest steroid buzz in over ten years. I mean, you don't see a lot of OJ Simpson figures, do you?
