Angels & Airwaves

So, I'm a pretty big blink 182 fan and always have been. When they split up, I wasn't too torn up. I didn't feel like the last blink album was really "blink." Not to say that I didn't enjoy it. When +44 put out their record, I got it right away. Mark and Travis are mack daddys. But I totally ignored Angels & Airwaves. But I saw that they had a new album coming out, so I got a hold of it and it's predecessor.

I am not a fan. It feels so cheesy. And pretty bland on top of that. RDD, what is your opinion on the matter? Anyone else for that matter.

Blitz 10-26-2007 08:15 PM

I just listened to I-Empire. I didn't dig it as much as I did We Don't Need To Whisper on the first listen. Not to say it's a bad album, but the first one hit me harder initially.

FakeLaser 10-26-2007 08:16 PM

I fucking hate Angels and Airwaves.

mitchables 10-26-2007 08:17 PM

I honestly listened to We Don't Need to Whisper all of twice before it got old and boring, and really, that's not saying much since the first listen is always an exploratory venture, but if an album hasn't made an effect on me AT ALL by the second listen, then it's not going to. :$

road doggy dogg 10-26-2007 08:17 PM

I refuse to listen to any of their new songs (except Everything's Magic which I heard anyway) til the CD comes out. SIX DAYS I CANNOT WAIT.

I would have unprotected sex with Tom Delonge even if he had AIDS.

ron the dial 10-26-2007 08:18 PM

It's hard for me to not agree with that.

ron the dial 10-26-2007 08:18 PM

That was meant for FakeRazor.

ron the dial 10-26-2007 08:19 PM

Mitch, I got bored of both CDs before I even got through the first listen.

ron the dial 10-26-2007 08:20 PM

And this could be another thread, but I'm also disappointed in Armor For Sleep's new one.

ron the dial 10-26-2007 08:20 PM

And 5 in a row.

FakeLaser 10-26-2007 08:21 PM

In late 2005 and early 2006, Tom gave a number of very enthusiastic interviews about AVA's upcoming debut album. He called it, among other things, 'the greatest Rock and Roll revolution'. He said it was 'the best music made in decades', with 'the conceptual depth of Pink Floyd, the anthemic architecture of U2, the energy and youthful vibrancy of Blink-182.

I think I wouldn't hate it as much if Tom didn't talk about it like it was the next coming of Christ. He's Tom fucking DeLonge. He plays 3 chords in a crappy pop-punk band famous for sophmoric humor and a complete lack of any sort of depth. It's like me saying I'm going to paint the best paintings we've seen since the renassiance.

road doggy dogg 10-26-2007 08:22 PM

I really don't care what he says about it, I fucking love his voice more than I love chocolate milk.

mitchables 10-26-2007 08:22 PM

Yeah, the hype didn't help it.

mitchables 10-26-2007 08:23 PM

That, too, was meant for FakeRazor.

G 10-26-2007 08:24 PM

Tom even said he was shitting his and your pants. :wtf:

ron the dial 10-26-2007 08:26 PM

I may have recant my last statement. After listening to A&A, this Armor For Sleep record is sounding damn good.

mitchables 10-26-2007 08:26 PM

Also, WeX, that's fair enough. I have to admit, the second listen was pretty forced, and I was really doing it because I thought maybe my sadness over the break-up of Blink was maybe clouding my judgment on the matter and that's why I couldn't enjoy AvA.

Turns out I was wrong.

Blitz 10-26-2007 08:58 PM

New Armor For Sleep record is hotttttt.

I still can't believe how serious everyone took that.

Read his statement on I-Empire. Continues to name drop.

road doggy dogg 10-26-2007 09:03 PM

If the music's still amazing, he can say whatever he wants about it. Can't wait for the CD

Ok maybe he is just a dickhead.

The Greater Power 10-26-2007 09:26 PM

My favorite song on the new album is "True Love".

I'm not sure which of their CDs I like more, but this one has some good stuff on it.

road doggy dogg 11-01-2007 06:24 PM

Wow coulda sworn this was coming out today, it was plastered all over their Myspace. Apparently it's coming out November 6th. Either way, can't wait.

I always found Blink 182 to be a bit, I dunno, Blah, I mean yeah they had a few good songs, but otherwise they were pretty I dunno, Blah.

road doggy dogg 11-05-2007 10:01 PM

What are you talking about, every blink song is the greatest song EVER. Not a single song by them I don't like (excluding their obvious joke tunes)

DMI 11-05-2007 10:24 PM

everything rdd has said

ron the dial 11-06-2007 12:33 AM

Blink 182 is amazing, I don't care what anyone says. They don't have one CD that I won't listen to. Dude Ranch is one of the best CDs ever made.

DMI 11-06-2007 10:26 AM

everything weapon x has said

Jesus Shuttlesworth 11-06-2007 01:35 PM

I really like Angels and Airwaves first album, haven't heard anything else from them though. Might have to check out the new one

I also haven't heard any +44 at all, somebody hook a brotha up

MVP 11-06-2007 08:16 PM

I-Empire is awesome. A little bit faster than We Don't Need To Whisper and more instrumentals. It's not boring at all, and Tom DeLonge is still the man.

MVP 11-06-2007 10:33 PM

Heaven sounds A LOT like The Adventure, but it's still amazing.

road doggy dogg 11-06-2007 10:35 PM

Wanted to pick this up today but had to be at school in the AM and work in the PM. ANGRY.
