MMA Stipulation is actually a test?

I guess its a survey like question...I took this from a website that really didnt give a source so im saying right off the bat that you shouldnt take it as what WWE is really thinking....

With its ever increasing popularity, MMA has never been more of a competitor to the WWE product and the possible MMA stipulation at Cyber Sunday in the Matt Hardy, MVP match is said to be a piece of market research.

WWE are curious to know how many fans vote for the MMA stipulation in order to determine its popularity compared to a regular wrestling match. This doesn't mean next week on Smackdown we'll see WWE doing UFC style fights, but it may make WWE acknowledge MMA further down the line.

Most of management are safe in their belief that the WWE fans will vote a good old fashioned wrestling match and shut the nay sayers up.

(Some of you may remember the Brawl 4 All fights that stunk up the joint during the attitude era)

Vote between a Boxing Match, MMA Fight or Wrestling match at WWE.com

Didn't Edge and Hardy pretty much have a legit MMA fight when Edge cleaned his clock at a PPV?

The One 10-27-2007 01:33 PM

I'm jut curious how they are going to pull off a staged MMA fight that won't either A) Completely suck or B) Look exactly like a wrestling match...

IC Champion 10-27-2007 01:41 PM

MMA matches suck when they aren't works.

Kane Knight 10-27-2007 02:52 PM

Like this is something new for them?

thedamndest 10-27-2007 06:27 PM

Calling it now: in two years Vince reveals plans for the XUFC.

Kane Knight 10-27-2007 06:30 PM

No, it'll have to be well after the popularrity of MMA is over.

WWXF.

Pepsi Man 10-27-2007 10:32 PM

How the fuck would it prove MMA's popularity anyway? We're talking about two wrestlers we've already SEEN in a wrestling match before. Granted, I did in fact vote wrestling; I'm just failing to see how this poll proves anything as far as that goes. :o

Dorkchop 10-28-2007 12:27 AM

No one will chose the wrestling match

Xero 10-28-2007 12:32 AM

Except Pepsi Man up there.

Seriously, why is that even an option? Maybe some kind of Amateur wrestling match, but having a non-gimmick match as an option is just retarded.

Didn't they do this at either one of the TTs or Cses in the past?

Not Boxing and MMA, obviously, but they had, essentially a "no stipulations" stip?

Anyway, if the story is true, WWE's more out of touch than we thought. If they think that the majority of people will prove them right by voting for such a "No stipulation" stipulation, they're high. People will vote for MMA simply because a regular wrestling match is "boring" when it comes to a gimmick.

Corporate CockSnogger 10-28-2007 12:45 AM

who cares

Just have some sambucca and it's sound

Kane Knight 10-28-2007 12:45 AM

What the fuck are you talking about?

Jordan 10-28-2007 01:43 PM

I think its an amateur wrestling match not a normal match guys.

I'd kind of say "no" to this repeated assertion that it's an amateur wrestling match.

Unless they explicitly said so on Smackdown, in which case nobody saw it anyway.

Xero 10-28-2007 01:59 PM

They've showed a wrestling ring in the promo, so I assume they mean pro wrestling match.

DAMN iNATOR 10-28-2007 02:31 PM

Here are the reasons, that I like Pepsi Man, chose the Wrestling Match:
  1. We’ve already seen boxing (last SNME), and the only thing that saved it from being a total snore-fest is that Hardy somehow made himself NOT look like a TOOL in boxing gear, and also the “Real Deal”, Evander Holyfield.
2. Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me that more than anything, just like UFC and Pride FC, MMA has more of a cult-/undergroundish following than anything, and seriously, I'm sorry to those who actually enjoy MMA ( ), but you KNOW your league or whatever the hell it is, is in a sorry state when Brock Fucking Lesnar joins up with the ranks.

Therefore, that being said, I think a proper wrestling match that could somehow end properly with some sort of draw/no-decision scenario to set up a feud over the U.S. title between MVP and Matt could be just what the doctor ordered.

Kane Knight 10-28-2007 02:44 PM

Are you...Are you high?

MMA has a cult/underground following? I won't even touch the Lesnar comments, but a cult/underground following? That might have been true when they first brought MMA artists into WWF, but that's ages ago.

Seriously, what are you smoking, and how much?

Kane Knight 10-28-2007 02:45 PM

That's like saying the HALO series has an undergroud following.

You do know that UFC constantly outsells both Pro Wrestling and Boxing in terms of PPV buy rates, right? Also, when they hold special TV events, they draw higher ratings than WWE does. So if MMA has a cult/underground fallowing, I guess that means Boxing and Pro Wrestling has no fanbase...oh wait...:shifty:

DarKCentaur 10-28-2007 02:51 PM

MMA is the next huge thing, just like poker was a couple of years ago. EVERYBODY is a UFC/Pride fan these days

Well, most of the people I know that play HALO don't really see a lot of sunlight... :shifty:

Kane Knight 10-29-2007 12:19 PM

Yeah, but that's because "loser" is trendy now.

And for some reason, spending thirty hours on Halo is actually considered to be something worth bragging about.
