Chris Masters fired

The following is from WWE.com:

WWE has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Chris Masters. We wish Chris the best in all his future endeavors.

This should come as no surprise.

Nark Order 11-08-2007 01:47 PM

Figured he would get shitcanned soon.

Innovator 11-08-2007 01:47 PM

I said he wouldn't last next year, didn't even make the over/under of new years.

Nark Order 11-08-2007 01:48 PM

The idiot didn't learn a thing either.

Stickman 11-08-2007 01:49 PM

So how long till TNA picks him up?

Nark Order 11-08-2007 01:50 PM

TNA just got another talentless meathead, it looks like.

Innovator 11-08-2007 01:54 PM

The guy has absolutely nothing to offer.

Sadly, yes. All he had going for him was his physique, and you can probably find a hundred guys better for THAT.

The downside of the usual WWE body. When you're gimmick is that you have an amazing body, and the guy on the next segment as the same or better body, you really don't have a chance.

Stickman 11-08-2007 02:29 PM

I loved the Mr. Perfect vs The Narcissist feud

OverTaker 11-08-2007 02:44 PM

Masters was awesome, just used wrong among others.

The One 11-08-2007 02:45 PM

OH MY GOD! I was like 2 weeks away from deciding that I was a mark of his...guess I gotta find some other useless guy to glory talk about...

BigDaddyCool 11-08-2007 02:56 PM

I'm more suprised Harry Smith still has a job. I would have fired him straight away for being caught after only 2 weeks on the road.

KingofOldSchool 11-08-2007 04:31 PM

Basically, yeah.

And especially when your whole gimmick is your physique, and the company institutes a Wellness Policy, you're up shit creek.

Blue Demon 11-08-2007 05:03 PM

:meh:

Shaggy 11-08-2007 05:26 PM

HA....when he ended up injured again I made a post on here betting WWE was gonna release him while he was hurt....

Londoner 11-08-2007 06:21 PM

lol...wasnt it just a while ago Vince was looking to push him?

Outsider 11-08-2007 06:25 PM

Can't say I'm gonna miss him. WWE has a habit of releasing talented guys who've done nothing wrong. This time, they got it right though.

TerryBoulder 11-08-2007 06:47 PM

EXTREME stupidity by the wwe! :n:

Chris Masters was bright, that guy had serious potential. WWE is relying too much on older talents these days and its too bad a good young talent has to be cut because of that. Hopefully we will see Masters back again and with a great new gimmick! :y:

But I thought you liked Flair. Isn't that enough?

That's a very loose definition of "talent", chief. There was nothing "bright" about the guy at all; damn near every match he was in ended with someone getting hurt -- maybe not injured, but usually hurt.

Mercury Bullet 11-08-2007 07:04 PM

Omg...what a huge loss for professional wrestling.

Well not really.

The Naitch 11-09-2007 12:45 AM

Chris Who?

Gods I hope you're a sock. I really do.

Kid, I'm a mark for Jeff Hardy. Imagine how upset I was 2-4 years ago when he got fired. Now he's back and doing better then ever. Wanna know why? Because Jeff's not roiding up every other night to maintain his image like that useless peice of shit that was Masters.

I hope the boy learns his lesson though and whereever he goes, he doens't roid up like he did. Otherwise, get his ass off my tv and I hope to never see him again.

So if you like a guy and he has been punished for drugs 3 or 4 times but he has a modicum of talent it's okay?

I think Shadow said it best. I hope you're a sock.

Like Hardy learned hislesson, right? He always manages to screw up his big push, and he'll probably find himself demoted/suspended/fired in a couple of weeks.

Heyman 11-09-2007 09:09 AM

I think in some ways, Masters was caught between a cock and a hard place.

As many people have alluded to, the main thing Masters had going for himself was his physique. Take away the physique, and you were left with nothing.

Unfortunately, the WWE sends mixed messages to its hoss wrestlers with limited talent. Take roids - and you get suspended. DON"T take roids (and lose your impressive physique in the process), and you get pushed down the card.

In a sense, I feel a bit sorry for Masters. Best of luck to him.

What Would Kevin Do? 11-09-2007 09:13 AM

I can't say I'll miss him, but come on. Remember when he came back, and was obviously off the juice? He was mocked on tv for looking smaller, and then he pretty much vanished of the card.

Lo and behold, he gets big again, and he gets a push.

And come on, look at Vince and HHH, like HHH hasn't grown since he came back...

Mixed messages. Blah

I totally agree. The de facto understanding is that if you don't have an awesome build, you won't get anywhere. But especially in the current environment, they'll throw you in front of the bus faster than they did Benoit if you're taking steroids.

I don't feel bad for Masters in anything more than a general sense (Especially since it was being reported that he was late for a meeting with Vince regarding all this, which is totally his doing), but it's really stupid that they're in this situation.

They need to shit or get off the pot. Promote awesome physiques and accept steroids, or don't and don't. With Benoit's death still causing ripples, WWE can't afford to be fucking around with potential investor fraud. That could kill wrestling faster than a creative team where Russo handles the booking, Heyman handles the checkbook, and Bob Holly handles talent relations.

Y2Ant 11-09-2007 11:04 AM

I think the real question here is what are TNA going to rename him to?

The BDC Approved answer is Bruce, and his gimmick would be that of a gay sailor. I personally think this would work. And this way, The One could mark out for him ;)

BigDaddyCool 11-09-2007 11:06 AM

The words Y2Ant has wrote are true, every last one them.

Y2Ant 11-09-2007 11:09 AM

What would he rename his finisher though? Or would he have a different move altogether?

Fairly certain he would have to rename it.

Kane Knight 11-09-2007 11:24 AM

So would he join the VKM if he's going to be a gay sailor?

Xero 11-09-2007 11:33 AM

Russo, with the filter of Vince McMahon, can work very well. Some shit did slip by, but for the most part it worked well.

Without the filter, he can easily book a promotion into the ground, as with both WCW and TNA. Sure, he hasn't booked TNA into the ground (yet), but a lot of shit that is obviously his gets through.

Kane Knight 11-09-2007 11:39 AM

Yeah, it's not sspecifically that he's incapable of doing good, but that he's capable of doing so much bad that he can destroy a promotion. Especially if you let Paul E. at the Checkbook.

FourFifty 11-09-2007 11:52 AM

Russo is good as long as he's kept on a short chain.

Disturbed316 11-09-2007 12:15 PM

Although I was abit of a mark for him, cant say its not a suprise and wont miss him that much.

.44 Magdalene 11-09-2007 12:37 PM

Me and the Optimist thought from the beginning that Chris Masters should be the Sexecutioner. It would make more sense, with those weird bicep tights and the ass shake thing he does at the top of the entry ramp. Obviously, he'd be the Excellence of Sexecution, and would go around Sexecuting people.
