What is the problem with the Canadian Destroyer?

OMGZ ITS SO UNREALISTICS!!!

Yeah, along with 90% of every other move in wrestling.

I honestly think it's one of those things that became cool to dislike, with prepubescent smark morons, and somehow caught on here.

What Would Kevin Do? 11-16-2007 01:27 AM

It's because unlike most wrestling moves, it looks like the move REQUIRES the person taking the move to flip himself onto his head.

I've seen one Canadian Destroyer that looked remotely realistic. It was Shuji Kondo doing it to Kaz Hayashi, and it was done with Kaz on the second rope, and Shuji on the top rope, and done as a counter of sorts.

Also, on a totally different note, Goto did a badass sunset flip/code red type move off the top rope to Tanahashi in their title match. Everyone needs to watch that match, as it was pretty good.

I personally can't stand the clothesline. It's a move that looks like it REQUIRES the person taking it to fall down.

Destor 11-16-2007 01:45 AM

Nah

The aforementioned Canadian Destroyer is at 4:30 about... Although upon closer inspection, it may have been a wierd DDT....

What Would Kevin Do? 11-16-2007 01:48 AM

I hate clotheslines, but I love lariats ;)

Fignuts 11-16-2007 01:51 AM

Kondo vs Hayashi was amazing.

I might agree if it was heavyweight wrestling, but you kind of have to go into a cruiserweight match with a suspension of disbelief, as most of the stuff they do is ridiculously unrealistic.

Also, banging a guys head on the steps or announce table is the most ridiculously unrealistic looking move ever, and makes the CD look like a terry funk right hook.

Destor 11-16-2007 01:56 AM

Fignuts makes a valid point, but two shitty moves doesn't make a left.

Jura 11-16-2007 05:48 AM

Same thing with Burchill's move but everyone liked that.

Actually, I hate that move too. It looks shitty, and has the impact of a hip toss.

I was actlly just about to post this.

And really, the CD is not THAT unrealistic. People don't complain about a sunset flip, but that's really all it is, is a higher impact version, where the guy lands on his head instead of back.

Jura 11-16-2007 09:04 AM

Off the tope rope is not bad though

I like the Canadian Destroyer!

.44 Magdalene 11-16-2007 09:37 AM

Hip tosses aren't realistic.

Kane Knight 11-16-2007 09:56 AM

As "deadly" as it's supposed to be, I can't bring myself to buy it. Even amidst other cruiser moves.

Most unrealistic move ever, or whatever? Naw. Doesn't mean I actually think of it as good, though.

Nah, sunset flips have the legs under the arms. You can actually pull someone down like that, and they're just going from a bent down posistion, to being on their back.

THe CD, they're basically doing a backflip because youre jumping with their head between your legs.

I'm not saying it doesn't look cool, but it's in the top ten most unrealistic wrestling moves... Assuming that list doesn't count DDT and Dragongate.

If it isn't, then what is?

Old man flop?

The Shining Hump?

The Fugitive 11-16-2007 10:30 AM

Certainly isn't "Hollywood" Stalker Ichikawa's Kanchou.

Destor 11-16-2007 10:31 AM

K, I found the shining hump. Yeah, that one gets the cake.

What the fuck.

Time to bomb that fucking country again, the last ones only made them fucking weird!

BigDaddyCool 11-16-2007 11:49 AM

I also don't like the umprettier because it too looks fake, takes too much to get too, and looks fake.

What, how can you not love a fed where bats, ladders, and blow up dolls win matches.... And where people are given magical powers after being bitten by snakes, travel through time, etc.

Seriously, the ONLY version of the Canadian Destroyer that should be done with any regularity is the Danshoku Destroyer ( Exact same move, but done with the guys head inside Dino's pants.)

I'm reminded of that saying that goes "In Canada it is tradition, in Mexico it is religion, Japan it is a sport, and America is a joke." I think it is an even bigger joke in Japan...

What Would Kevin Do? 11-16-2007 02:19 PM

DDT is pretty much a comedy fed. It's not meant to be taken seriously, incase ya couldn't tell ;)

Stickman 11-16-2007 02:23 PM

It is a pretty rediculous move.

BigDaddyCool 11-16-2007 02:23 PM

No, I made my ruling. Japan is worse than America. Why do you hate America WWKD?

What Would Kevin Do? 11-16-2007 02:30 PM

Because Japan is greater than America. I know, I've been to both places.
