Music critics have compared the storyteller-style lyrics of their songs to lyrics of rock opera<sup id="_ref-Entertainment_Weekly_0" class="reference"></sup> The band first gained popularity in 1999 when they starred in the self-titled Tenacious D, a television series on HBO, in which Black and Gass attempted to establish themselves as the "Greatest Band on Earth". The series airs occasionally on Comedy Central and is available on their DVD, The Complete Masterworks. Not run out of musicians, run out of ones that may crack the top ten, if I set the top ten in stone by putting up a hell of alot of well known and liked artists, it will make me just have to edit the 20+ list, so Im waiting out on a few, sorry I don't respond to requests right away, they will be done in the future.

Beezleboss is awesome. That's one of the few things they've done that I liked.
The only other good thing about that movie ws Tim Robbins. |
2. For a joke band, the humor is often, well, pretty weak.
I don't care how great they are as musicians, as TD, they're weak musically. John Denver used to have a stable of some of the most talented studio musicians you could have behind him, and he still sounded like John Denver. |
