Kennedy Declares: I had a legit reason to take steroids. *More stuff added*

Taken from the Charleston Post-Courier, as part of an interview to promote tomorrow night's RAW.

Quote:

"I had a legitimate medical reason to have it (steroids). How was I supposed to know my doctor's a quack? I was injured and had a legitimate reason. I tore my lat in 2005. I had surgery, went home and had a staph infection that I almost died from. I lost about 45 pounds in about three days. I had a legitimate medical reason for having it, however my name turned up on that list. Vince and the company's hands were tied. They had to suspend me... it's one of those things. But stuff happens in this business. I'm going to learn from my mistakes. I'm not going to make that same mistake again. I'm just going to keep pushing on and moving forward."

Crossrine 12-02-2007 08:18 PM

And how would steroids help his situation?

KYR 12-02-2007 08:19 PM

Funny. I always thought that Anti-Biotics were used for infections not Steroids.

But hey, what would I know, I only went to University for 4 years and got a Pharmacy degree.

Oh and 45 pounds in three days??? Give me a break. This isn't the Biggest Loser...or is it?

Xero 12-02-2007 08:19 PM

That's what they all say.

At least the ones who deny it. The ones who are open to it are usually like Warrior.

It helped save his life.

Or was that the Wellness Policy?

Or was that Pat Patterson's cock in his asshole?

I've lost track of what he's said over the last 6 months.

Xero 12-02-2007 08:24 PM

Is being injected with Pat Patterson's cock covered in the wellness policy?

Wait you can get a Pharmaceutical degree in 4 years college?

Bad Company 12-02-2007 08:25 PM

He should of just shut the hell up about it, it had slipped the mind of alot of people, I'm sure and he's just digging himself a hole.

No, but I think anything regarding Harvey Wippleman's cock is though.

Jeritron 12-02-2007 08:31 PM

45 pounds in 3 days?

How does one lose 15 lbs a day? Where does it go? Was he sweating buckets?

In Australia, you can get a Pharmacy Degree at the Major Universities (in my case Sydney Uni) in 3 years. I did an extra year of Clinical/Hospital Pharmacy.

In the States, I believe you have to do a certain number if "Humanities" subjects - who needs to learn Latin these days? - which is why it takes longer.

Funky Fly 12-02-2007 08:35 PM

Steroids are used by doctors to treat testosterone deficiency, breast cancer and severe injuries.

SammyG 12-02-2007 08:42 PM

Kennedy.

Is this Kennedy's Pharmacist?

Kane Knight 12-02-2007 08:48 PM

I really do hope that nobody's actually dumb enough to believe this sort of shit. I mean, honestly. "How was I supposed to know my doctor was a quack?"

You fucking moron.

BigDaddyCool 12-02-2007 09:12 PM

The roids were probably to help him gain the 45 pounds back. When you get hella sick, they do prescribe roids from time to time.

Innovator 12-02-2007 09:14 PM

What a fucking idiot

It's uncommon, though.

The story sounds horrible, too.

KingofOldSchool 12-02-2007 09:38 PM

And why would he need to go through a shady online pharmacy to obtain these "legal" steroids?

If he had a legit prescription, he could've gotten from a legit pharmacy.

Yeah, you'd probably only go through an online pharmacy (Especially one that already violates the rules of your company's policies) if you had some reason to hide something.

You know, like the doctor being bogus, or the script being bad.

The Genius 12-02-2007 11:49 PM

in the US the fastest university track i know of is 6 years to get your PharmD degree. 2 years undergrad and prep work to take the PCAT, then 4 years in pharmacy school.

Dorkchop 12-03-2007 01:04 AM

Kennedy declares: I am a fucking moron

Fignuts 12-03-2007 01:13 AM

I dunno, staph infections are extremely serious. I don't want to completly discount this.

Dorkchop 12-03-2007 01:57 AM

I don't doubt he took steroids because he may have been legitimately prescribed them by his doctor. I do completely doubt his "I only took them because I had an infection and lost weight" story. He said in an interview that he was on roids a few years ago, but isn't currently on them because he doesn't need that extra 10 lbs of muscle... then he got busted for getting roids and is now saying he only took them because of the infection or whatever. We're not that stupid. I don't give a shit that he's roided up though. It's a fake sport. I just don't see why he has to lie so much about this.

Mr. JL 12-03-2007 02:12 AM

for shame Mr. Kennedy

Because he didn't have any of these conditions:

Come on now. This would make sense.

Dave Youell 12-03-2007 08:03 AM

Hang on, didn't the wellness policy state that if you have a prescription it's ok?

They can be extremely serious. That doesn't mean that he legitimately had one, or that steroids were a legitimate course of action. Especially with....

A Steph infection is much more insidious.

Doctors do prescribe them for other reasons, too, but at the point you have to go through a dodgy pharmacy to get them....

Yup, but he went through signature, a no-no period. Pay more attention to the reason these people were suspended; they did more than just take steroids to violate the wellness policy.

No, why what he said is full of shit is unrelated.

Ken Kennedy went to a dodgy pharmacy for drugs from a dodgy doctor. Said doctor prescribed them, and according to reports, prescribed him MULTIPLE COURSES of steroids over a short period of time, like Benoit's doctor did. Unless Vince was greasing his palm, there's no reason to believe the Doctor just decided to give him multiple courses. One should be more than enough to "gain back weight," and probably shouldn't have been prescribed, but Kennedy's lying.

Just like Edge was. Wait, wasn't he "the man" when he defended himself against Sports Illustrated claims, despite also being a lying sack of shit?

In fact, Kennedy having a script for steroids changes nothing, because he went about getting them in a way explicitly prohibited by WWE's Wellness Policy. The same as the rest of the guys who were suspended. It doesn't matter if you have the Pope, the Surgeon General, and Doctor Dre arguing your case for steroids, if you break another element of the Wellness Policy, you're going to go down.

I'm betting about a third of the roster has passed a bogus script at some point. Probably more, even. That's not what Kennedy was suspended for, though. He should be, but then, so should everyone else. But that would mean Trips and Vince and probably Cena.

Honestly? I don't care about steroids. I get it. You want a big physique, and dozens of former wrestlers have talked about how you just don't get enough time to work out on the road. It's noncompetitive, so I don't care about sportsmanship or whatever. The thing is, Vince and company are talking about cracking down on things, health concerns, etc., and if they were serious, they would go after such sources.

But they won't. It would hurt business (In more ways than one).

KK is loving the multi-quote right now. (You're welcome)

Innovator 12-03-2007 12:25 PM

Anyone know when the article said Kennedy was purchasing roids from Signature? A lot of the names on that list were buying in 2006, trying to find out if Kennedy's dates match up at least.

October 2006-February 2007.

When was he out with a quad tear? I mean, five-ish months is a long time to be on steroids for a staph infection anyway, but...

Also, he had testosterone, HGH (Somatropin) and a drug used for hiding gynomastia listed under drugs received. Makes his story sound all the more bullshit, especially since short term use of steroids as prescribed by a doctor shouldn't cause gynomastia.

Yeah, it actually WORKS since the update.

Innovator 12-03-2007 01:02 PM

He was out in early 2006 I remember, so that doesn't match up.

And one cycle on a recommended dosage wouldn't cause gynomastia

Kennedy really needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.

I think he's counting on people looking to justify wrestling to just act like good little apologists. Remember when Benoit's tox reports came back, and people were saying the media should retract the steroid claims, even though he was found to have a high dosage of testosterone in his system, a STEROID?

Yeah, people who like wrestling, or anything else will make excuses.

Sure, it falls apart under any real scrutiny, but I don't think they're expecting scrutiny.

But yeah, the more he says about it, the worse he's gonna sound.

You know what'd be nice? Someone saying "Yeah, I did steroids, I got caught, I'm sorry." Or "It was dumb." Even if you don't think it's a bad idea, one of the concerns people have is the message it sends to children. Well, it'd be nice if someone would come forth and say it was a bad idea, they shouldn't have done it, even if they don't strictly mean it. I mean, obviously, Kennedy is willing to lie, so why not a lie that doesn't make you look like a horrendous douchebag?

Kane Knight 12-03-2007 01:12 PM

Oh, and BTW, good call on asking about the dates. I forgot the articles gave specific time frames.

DarKCentaur 12-03-2007 01:20 PM

I think Kennedy is just in character :shifty:
