Wrestling Holds/Finishers you just don’t see anymore
 

Apologies if this has been done recently.

While writing my first post and reminiscing about all those Old-School wrestlers, I started thinking about Killer Karl Kox.

KKK was my favourite heel as a kid and his “devastating” finisher was the Brain Buster.

For those of you who don’t know the BB, picture a vertical suplex but rather than having your opponent fall on his back, he landed on his head.

Invariably, the medics then had to come to the ring and stretcher out his opponent. Next week, his opponent would show up in a neck brace vowing to get revenge once they got better and selling the “injury” (of course, if Cena had've been around in those days he would've got straight up).:roll:

I remember at the live shows the very audible gasps from the crowd :eek: as KKK lifted his opponent into the air and suspended him there before delivering the final blow. Of all the heels, I reckon KKK was the most hated of his time simply because of his signature move.

Was it dangerous? No doubt...if performed by amateurs. But I don’t ever recall a mishap or real injury resulting from KKK performing this move.

There aren’t that many moves that involve dropping your opponent directly on his head. Tombstone (where most of the time, you can see the head miss the mat by miles) and to some degree the DDT (same) are a couple.

But I haven’t seen the BB since the days of KKK which prompts me to ask what other moves have disappeared.

Eddie, Chavo and Benoit all used to do brainbusters.

Eddie done this move alot. He did it to Rey on the stairs.

The abdominal stretch.

Steiner Screwdrivers.

The mexican surfboard was badass but I haven't seen it in years. The one where the guy is lifted into the air.

:lol: One of the lamest holds ever. Who was it recently that applied it to HBK (I think) while he was sitting on the mat? Was it the master of the rest hold?

Has to be the piledriver.

I liked the brainbuster Kid Kash used

Remember when heel tag teams used to hold each others arm for leverage on the abdominal stretch when the ref wasn't looking? That was golden.

Haven't seen a DVD in WWE for a while...

Plenty of Fireman's Carries, though.

Pretty much 97% of the moves on Create-A-Wrestler mode in any of the Smackdown games.

Perfect-plex/fisherman suplex pin. Still my favorite finisher ever.

Robert Roode uses it as his finisher in TNA.

Another reason why Robert Roode is the goods

Doesn't Val Venis also use it as one of his finishers? Of course, since he never wins you never get to see it.

DDT's aren't really done well or as finishers anymore
You never see anybody give up to a figure 4 anymore.
You don't see tag teams with team finishers as much nowadays. (or if you do they suck).
There's really a lot of shitty finishers.

True. And when was the last time anyone fell to the Sleeper Hold?

I believe it was during HHH and the Rock's Iron Man match, HHH won a fall with it (I think).
