DISCUSSION - Santino Marella: Ripping off The Rock's catchphrases. Yay or Nay?

As we saw a month or so ago, Santino did a pretty hilarious job rippng off Austin's catchphrases.

If the WWE were to get Santino to rip-off The Rock's catchphrases (on a more consistent basis), do you think it would be a good idea or bad idea?

At first glance - I'm thinking bad idea.........BUT, if Santino can manage to be creative with it (and equally hilarious/creative as when he ripped off Austin), then I wouldn't mind seeing it. I think it would be pretty cool if Santino garnered huge "Rocky!" chants if he ripped off The Rock to perfection (in terms of comedic value.....to which even the markiest of marks started to appreciate).

So what do you think? Yay? Nay? or Gay?

Seriously, unless it lead to a Marella/Rock match (and let's face it, that would be a waste of a Rock return) it would be worthless.

Excatly like I was going to say. Alot of fans would expect it to lead up to a Rock return, and would be a big disappointment when it didn't. Just have him rip off the people he's feuding with, it works better :y:

I'd much rather see him ripping off everyone's catchphrases. His delivery is rather funny.

It doesn't have to end with a match with The Rock. Any midcarder can step up and say "Stop ripping off The Rock" to start a nice program with Santino.
Or have Santino rip off other people. Make that his gimmick. He can still talk about cans of the ass whip, he can tell people to understand their role and keep their mouths closed, the power of Santino will be felt, have a good day, etc etc.

No Santino is his own man, he doesn't need the Rock.

You know... in comic books, they often have new and younger heroes take up the old hero's name and costume/abilities. So, why stop at stealing catchphrases? Let's get the ball rolling on "legacy" wrestlers.

Please note, that the above statement was in no way serious and would be a horrible idea. Though, technically, I guess, they could already call Jay Lethal "Macho Man II".

I would like to see him rip rock off a few times and when the fans boo he should just say a throwaway line like, "He's an actor now, whats he gonna do".

Anything that brings The Rock and wrestling back together in any way is a good thing. Having said that, I at least want to see Rock on a pre-taped video on Monday. The 15 year Raw anniversary wouldn't be complete without him. He must go to shit loads of award ceremonies anyway, and he must be a nominee for the bet raw wrestler ever, so he should be there.

He's trying to maintain his image; i.e. staying away from wrestling.

Austin: Son, it's the bottom line and not the bottom lines.

Santino: I like to say more than one thing at the same time.

Santino is really entertaining. But I wish he could make his own catch phrases. Maria reminds me of aishwariya rai.

They need to have a five minute segment in every Raw where Santino just spouts off, and then gets the shit beat out of him. No matches, just beatdowns. And I for one would love to hear one recital of "If-a you smell-a what the Rock is-a baking!"
