LOL WWE editing department fucked up

So if anyone watched the ending to Smackdown last night, you might have noticed a fuck up when they edited the end of the Kane/Edge match.

Watch from 14:18 on and tell me what you notice about Edge.

The Ravishing One 12-08-2007 08:27 AM

I can't see it?

Mister Sinister 12-08-2007 08:28 AM

He had a different pair of pants on when Taker was going to Chokeslam him?

Mister Sinister 12-08-2007 08:29 AM

Yeah, when Taker had him in his gasps, he had on the grey camo pants, then it switches back to the black pants.

BigDaddyCool 12-08-2007 08:30 AM

Grey camo tights?

Jura 12-08-2007 08:56 AM

That's some gay shit right thurr.

BigDaddyCool 12-08-2007 08:59 AM

By the name, I was kinda hoping for Chris Benoit to show up.

Xero 12-08-2007 10:22 AM

Taker's face was all red for that split second too, lol.

So when exactly was that cut from? A house show?

Jura 12-08-2007 10:24 AM

I just got done watching last week's Smackdown! (11.30) and I just realized that it's from then.

Xero 12-08-2007 10:30 AM

I don't know what's worse, doing this or reshooting the ending because someone's shoulder was still down... With the crew as the fans.

Kane Knight 12-08-2007 10:51 AM

I love how we're given a time to start watching, but there's no actual counter.

Sepholio 12-08-2007 11:00 AM

Edge can officially change clothes at an epic rate of speed. In fact, he may have just reached ludicrous speed.

Pause the video and there's one on the upper right.

If you click on anywhere on that line it will show you what the time elapsed up to that point.

Purgatory 12-08-2007 11:13 AM

wow, just wow.

I noticed a similar shoddy editing job on their part after going to see Smackdown live a few years back. They had Brock Lesnar doing an interview in the ring. When they aired it on TV, they showed him as doing the same Interview backstage, word for word. No sign of the in-ring one at all.

Nark Order 12-08-2007 11:48 AM

LOL!!

That Edge is tricky.

owenbrown 12-08-2007 12:51 PM

I wonder if that person still has a job?

Poor Jeff. His first day editing, and this happens.

Jeritron 12-08-2007 03:12 PM

Lol. Yea I've seen shit like this on Smackdown before. It's also in slow motion which is pretty funny too

Kane Knight 12-08-2007 04:18 PM

Certainly not the first time, yeah.

Jordan 12-08-2007 04:40 PM

That horrible, I wish they would try to keep kayfabe so I don't feel like a fucking idiot watching this shit. Oh well I never watch Smackdown! for more than five minutes anyway.

Jeritron 12-08-2007 07:07 PM

Hold up what? How did they break kayfabe? I mean yes, it's cheesy and whitetrash as hell. They fucked up. But how's that breaking kayfabe?

It's not like it's a plot hole in a movie when the boom mic comes into frame or someone has on a different pair of shoes in one shot. It's a blooper, not the whole cast breaking character and the director walking out within the plot.

Plus I've seen this happen plenty of times, and it's probably happened even more times that we haven't caught. Technically you could argue that it's no more faker than someone being live via sattelite, or a stunt Austin getting hit by a car. And that's all kayfabe.

Uh... That's EXACTLY what happened here... Except they're pants.

IC Champion 12-08-2007 07:24 PM

LOL, Xero is the man. K4L

I'd also add, it's not a movie. It's supposed to be live entertainment.

Rammsteinmad 12-08-2007 08:00 PM

Lol WWE is so fake this days.

Haha, yeah, I'd say that both examples are pretty damn applicable to this situation. In one Edge is wearing black pants, and in another he is wearing gray pants. That is something that takes you out of the plot a lot more than different shoes, or even a boom mic being slightly visible.

I'd say that the guy who did it actually got promoted. Now people will see right through SmackDown!, not watch, and RAW will once again be clearly superior in the ratings. Weren't SmackDown!'s climbing recently? We all know how Vince would feel about that.

Jeritron 12-08-2007 08:19 PM

Yea but how many people really noticed. They got overconfident with how quick they'd pass it off on tv. I bet most people didn't notice nor care

And no, it's not a "plot hole". It doesn't go against anyhting in the storyline or make any of the kayfabe make any less sense or contradictory. A plot hole and a blooper are different.

I get what you are saying, but in kayfabe, Edge and Kane were fighting in the ring. What this little bit of footage does is says "they weren't really in the ring the whole time you were watching." That goes directly against kayfabe, which is meant to give the impression that this shit is real. A blooper would be more like a blown spot. Something that could feasibly happen in the real world. Maybe a guy getting tongue-tied during a promo, or mincing his words.

After actually watching the video though, the shot was much shorter than I would have expected. However, as a mark, sitting attentively, I'd have noticed, and have been as confused as fuck. It'll turn out either a few more smarks, or some casuals away from the product.

Jeritron 12-08-2007 08:54 PM

Just doesn't bother me I guess. I've accepted that Smackdown is taped anyways, and that what they're presenting is a product of entertainment. Granted it's done mostly live or in one take, rather than a movie. Plus I don't watch Smackdown as it is.

Xero 12-08-2007 09:01 PM

I would like them (or anyone, really) to splice a bunch of matches together to make a match.

Or, take an Orton match and take out all the rest holds. Who knows, he may be the best wrestler ever between the 500 breaks in the match.

Kane Knight 12-08-2007 09:07 PM

Actually, I think Edge could use more editing.
