The band's original line-up consisted of Eddie Vedder (lead vocals), Jeff Ament (bass), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), Mike McCready (lead guitar), and Dave Krusen (drums). The band's current drummer is Matt Cameron, formerly of Soundgarden, who has been with the band since 1998. Formed after the demise of Ament and Gossard's previous band Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam broke into the mainstream with its debut album Ten. One of the key bands of the grunge movement in the early 1990s, Pearl Jam was nevertheless criticized early on as being a corporate cash-in on the alternative rock explosion. However, its members became noted for their refusal to adhere to traditional music industry practices as their career progressed, including refusing to make music videos and engaging in a much-publicized boycott of Ticketmaster. Rolling Stone described the band as having "spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame." Since its inception, the band has sold 30 million records in the U.S., and an estimated 60 million albums worldwide. Pearl Jam has outlasted many of its contemporaries from the alternative rock breakthrough of the early 1990s, and is considered one of the most influential bands of the decade, and "the most popular American rock band of the 1990s". Pearl Jam continues to generate hit albums, tour successfully, and garner critical acclaim into the 21st century. 1) Jimi Hendrix - 91 2) David Bowie - 89 3) Queen - 89 4) Johnny Cash - 87 5) Tupac - 85 6) Guns N' Roses - 83 7) Public Enemy - 83 8) The Doors - 81 9) Iron Maiden - 80 10) Alice in Chains - 80 11) Dio - 78 12) Dr. Dre - 77 13) Gang Starr - 77 14) Black Sabbath - 76 15) Metallica - 75 16) Ice-T - 74 17) Pantera - 73 18) Sonic Youth - 72 19) Primus - 70 20) Garth Brooks - 68 21) Nine Inch Nails - 67 22) Joy Division - 65 23) Wu Tang Clan - 64 24) Megadeth - 64 25) Outkast - 64 26) Anthrax - 62 27) The Killers - 61 28) Dropkick Murphys - 61 29) Eminem - 60 30) Slayer - 60 31) Tenacious D - 59 32) NOFX - 59 33) Godsmack - 51 34) U2 - 40 35) Staind - 31 36) Rihanna - 28 37) 50 Cent - 27 |

Ten, Vs, Vitalogy and Yeild are all amongst my favourite albums ever, and the others are all pretty darn good too. Also ROFL @ AIC getting an 80, there's no way they're better than atleast half of the groups below them. |
Oh really, CT2GAY?
