Disturbed is a rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The group was formed in 1996 when musicians Dan Donegan, Steve "Fuzz" Kmak, and Mike Wengren hired singer David Draiman in Chicago, Illinois. [1] Originally classified as a nu metal band, Disturbed is now regarded by some music critics as hard rock or heavy metal, although others now regard them as alternative metal. However, the band's genre is still being debated. When asked about die-hard metal fans not finding Disturbed heavy enough, frontman David Draiman stated: "We probably have too much melody going on or we're not quite as turbulent or caustic. While I really love that type of music, it's not what we try to do. If we have to place things in context, we're more hard rock than heavy metal these days."

First album = awesome
Second album = shite
Third album = meh

Holy Shit, I rated them higher than a guy with "Disturbed" in his name and a Disturbed Avatar.

I'm not sure if I should be amused or very, very depressed.

Yeah his avatar is the symbol for Believe which he said was shit. :wtf:

Showed more range and depth than the first one. A lot of people bitched, and I think it's because it had that breadth to it. The first record was very consistent. The flipside is, it was also very generic and samey. Lot of the riffs could be used interchangably, and so on. Like Linkin Park's first record, in which you could literally just overlay the lyrics and vocals from one song onto two or three others. That's popular with both record execs, and the buying public who wants to hear the same song over and over. And that's equated with quality, often enough.

Second album was fine.

Don't remember the third one, besides the Genesis cover, some ham-fisted stuff about the Bush Administration, and 10,100 fists, which was fine.

8. They have come a long way in three albums, and are one of the few bands that have evolved past the late 90's/early 00's "nu-metal" lump. Side note: David Draiman holds a triple degree from Layola.

He strikes me as quite intelligent, though it doesn't really change my opinion of the music. They've improved, and made sure not to stick to their guns, which gives them a passing grade from me, but they're still not exactly great.

I don't think "Nu Metal" Ever really fit them, but their first record was pretty homogenous. though I will probably always enjoy the first track.

thedamndest 12-25-2007 05:31 PM

I think the first album was the right growl at the right time. OOOO-AH-AH-AH-AH put them miles ahead of bands that just went RAAAAH or YEEEEAHHHHH!
