Cloverfield (SPOILER PIC)

This opens Friday, and I'm gonna watch this crazy bastard tomorrow.

There are fan art sketches of the monster made after watching the movie all over the net, and it looks fucking berzerk.

My manager gave me the poster of the movie, and if the movie sucks, I'm gonna eBay that shit Thursday.

After all, I've still got my Dark Knight poster to fall back on.

I didn't care enough to try to hunt that one down. It was more than two pages back, so I didn't bother using the search.

Jura 01-15-2008 07:16 PM

So is it a big lion or something because the dude's yelling "it's a big lion!! It's destroying the whole city..." or something like that.

Innovator 01-15-2008 07:27 PM

Manbearpig?

Nope. I can't even really compare it to stuff I've seen. It just looks fucking crazy.

CSL 01-15-2008 07:30 PM

Completely forgot this was out soon, been used to it being ages away.

concept art for the monster.

ClockShot 01-16-2008 08:56 AM

I don't suppose that's the Cthullu Doc Brown was talking about on A.O.T.S

Shaggy 01-16-2008 11:03 AM

I read an review for the film online today and they said that by the end of the movie you do get a full body clear as day detailed look at what this big monster is....they also went on to say that the monster looked cheesy and shouldnt have been shown like that.

The film got a 8/10 rating and was said to really make the people watching be in fear. I cant wait. I already got my tickets for after work on Friday.

Volchok 01-16-2008 11:44 AM

Yeah they said if you get motion sickness easy to take some medicine before it because some shots when they're running from the monster all you see is the groung and buildings. Think Blair Witch only cooler.

The line was "It's alive."

Hearing FTW.

The Lone Wolf 01-16-2008 08:11 PM

That thing looks pretty sick

Blitz 01-16-2008 08:26 PM

Looks pretty badass.

Jura 01-16-2008 10:18 PM

I wanna ride it. Like DK rides the rhinoceros.

Xerzes 01-17-2008 01:51 AM

Not the first time I've seen a picture more or less like that for this movie. Unfortunately, it is in all likelihood false.

Orga, Godzilla 2000.

Champion of Europa 01-17-2008 03:56 AM

Just saw the movie.

FUCKSHITJESUS.

It is so intense and scary.

Mr. Nerfect 01-17-2008 08:44 AM

I've heard a lot of complaints about the ending. I won't go into details, but as you can expect from a hand-held film about nobodies watching a monster destroy shit, I assume it ends in the most logical way possible.

Fuck Hollywood and them conditioning people to expect shit.

I personally liked the ending of the movie. You have a general idea of what to expect from some of the information given by government title cards at the beginning.

KingofOldSchool 01-17-2008 08:18 PM

Might go see this in a couple of weeks.

I'd prefer it to any other possibility, really. I mean, how else could it end?

Shaggy 01-18-2008 12:02 AM

LOL...Gotta love Asylum...they know just the way to rip off movies...

Not only have they ripped off Snakes on a Plane, Transformers, Alien Vs Predator and I am Legend. But now they ripped off Cloverfield...

I give you...MONSTER

Jura 01-18-2008 10:21 AM

Is it crazy that I've seen like 6 Asylum movies now?

Kris P Lettus 01-18-2008 02:02 PM

How is it a rip off if it came out a full year before??

What is Asylum??

p.s. I'm going to see Cloverfield is like an hour..

WOO

Shaggy 01-18-2008 03:37 PM

Just got back from seeing it...

It was an awesome movie experience...

People were pissed at the ending though but I loved it.

I definently think this is one of those movies that is better to catch at the theaters with the surround sound. I dont think it will stand up to just watching it at home on a TV screen. And from what Ive heard the excitement doesnt work the 2nd time around. Some of the people I was with at the movie saw it a couple days ago at an advance screening and they said that it wasnt that great the second time around. You begin to notice the movies flaws.

In the end...Awesome movie that everyone should definently see...but while its at theaters.

It's a distribution and production company. http://imdb.com/company/co0043571/

100 Million B.C. looks like a rip off of 10,000 B.C. I Am Omega is a rip off of I Am Legend. The are a lot of similarities but different ending and stuff.

Shaggy 01-18-2008 04:49 PM

Can anyone say Sequel???

According to various sources...at a screening last night that Matt Reeves was in attendance for he was asked about the possibility of a sequel. He said that if this one does well chances are they will make another one. When asked about how the story would work for that film he said that "Perhaps this group of people were not the only people filming that night?"

Kris P Lettus 01-18-2008 05:04 PM

My plans got changed.. I'm def gonna see this this weekend..

Hanso Amore 01-18-2008 07:44 PM

Just saw it.....Amazing.

I agree that it needs to be seen in the theater for the full experience.

Kalyx triaD 01-18-2008 08:03 PM

Very intense. Now I gotta search all over the net to find out what the hell that thing was.

And DO NOT get bit by the little ones!

Hanso Amore 01-18-2008 08:29 PM

They did a great job of giving me enough to think it was great, but leave me still craving more info. How, why?!?!?!? They could make a sequel with back story, or even just like news reports for the next few days. Give me somthing!

Yea I love how you never really learn anything about that...

What happened with that? (Spoiler in black of course)

Did that chicks stomach explode or did they kill her somehow? I just remember the blood spraying on the cover thing so I assume she exploded

Those little creatures reminded me of the bugs from Starship Troopers.

Kalyx triaD 01-18-2008 08:46 PM

Well:

There was that one soldier with a gaping hole in his midsection with somebody saying "We got another bite" or something. I assume that you 'burst' after a little while. Don't think it was the military's doing, with the guy saying she was already done with.

Still, I'm left with more Q's than A's. And appearently there was something to see in the last shot at Cony Island in the background...

Mister Sinister 01-18-2008 09:12 PM

Yeah you see something fall into the Harbor in the right hand corner of the screen

mitchables 01-18-2008 09:46 PM

Well, now I just don't know what to think. All you guys think this movie rocks. Everyone I know in real life hated it.

DS 01-18-2008 11:00 PM

I loved how the ending tied it all together with the first day. You saw the monster falling into the water and then you could see the rocket ship thing in the background that was also shown while they were on the bridge, before he panned over to the Statue of Liberty.

Very intense but I don't know how well it would be the second time.

Nowhere Man 01-18-2008 11:32 PM

I loved it, but I really didn't like the way the monster looked. It felt like they were trying too hard to make it look 'different' IMO.

Anyway, the important thing is that it scared the shit out of me, and it left me wanting more. And as frustrating as the movie's non-ending is, it was probably more effective than just bashing us over the head with a contrived origin.

Thumbs up.

Kalyx triaD 01-18-2008 11:47 PM

We'll see what that manga has to say.
