so my ipod broke...anyone know any alternatives?

Figured id post this in the music forum. I had a 30gb black ipod, and all of a sudden the fucking thing wont work, and its $150 to fix it. Fuck it, ill get a new one, but i want something more customizable and with more features but also being slim enough to fit in a pocket or clip on my shorts while working out.

Anyone have any ideas? Anything you own, or have been eyeballing?

Are you looking to replace it for a similar cost, or what?

I mean, that would help in terms of recommendation.

more or less, i dont wanna pay anymore than $300, and i need at LEAST 20gb is space, seeing as how i had a 30gb previously and filed up half of it.

I recently purchased an Mp3 player by the name of "Insignia" after my iPod crapped out on me.

The one I have is only 4gb, but I'm sure you can find one with more memory. The 4GB was only $70, so I'm guessing a higher model will be within your $300- price range.

It's very easy to use, the layout is simple and efficient, and it operates off of a real wheel track ball as opposed to the "touch only" track ball of the iPod, which I found to have problems after a certain amount of time.

Best features on it though are that it's all drag-and-drop loaded. You only need to download the mp3 software that comes with it, but after that, you can use any music downloading system to drag and drop your music directly into the player when its connected with a USB cable.

The other awesome feature is that you can create playlists on the go. You don't have to create it on your computer and THEN load it, you can actually create a "Now Playing" track listing from the player itself. It also has FM Radio, video, and the sound is quite good.

Not to mention the earphones.

Nunder was recommending the Toshiba Gigabeat, which looks pretty solid.

I like the Zen series, though they bricked mine. Twice.
