PC Not Starting Up Properly
Basically, when the PC starts up (I'm using XP) everything runs as normal until I actually log in, then it takes a little while to start up (it says its loading up Personal Settings) then it goes onto my background.... and that's it, the bar at the bottom doesn't load up, nor do my desktop items.
I can load up programs by bringing up the Windows Task Manager (ALT+CTRL+DEL) but its bugging me having to do that, I need to sort the rest out. I went into safe mode and downloaded a virus checker (I had 350 :o ) got rid of them all (which gave me my sound back) and basically the pc is working fine, except the problem of no desktop Any what have any idea? |
hhhm happened to me when i had xp. Twas a pain cause i had to do the same thing but i just loaded up explorer.exe ( or was it iexplorer.exe) anyway i had to always do that to load all my desktop items. Pain in the ass :\ do a system restore.

Explorer wont load anything up, I'll try it again, but I doubt it'll work.... could I do a System Restore even if it doesn't load up? If so, how?
|
Lord if only i still had XP unfortunately i do not so i don't know how to do a system restore :\. hhhmm when u went into safe mode did it show any desktop icons at all? Try Windows help?

download system mechanic from www.iolo.com and run some of the utilities in that (NOT THE DUPLICATE FILE DELETION) run the registry cleaner etc. Just remember to do backups before you make significant changes.
|
Safe Mode.... I could try that
Failing that I'll try what your suggesting |
Good luck btw ;)
|
It worked
Thank you :D |
Which worked? My method or his method?

Yours
