I rewatched Pan's labyrinth last night and I f'n love it.. I watched all the extras (extended special DVD or whatever) and heard del Toro talking about some of his other movies like "The Devil's Back Bone" (El Espinazo Del Diablo) and "Cronos" (La Invención de Cronos).. I have seen other shit by him like Blade II and Hellboy (which I am a big fan) but have never seen these.. Has anyone seen them?? What are your thoughts on them??

Also, I saw he is slated to direct "The Hobbit" :drool: which is in preproduction ATM.. I am so f'n excited about this because it is my favorite Tolkien book.. I think he'll do a wonderful job with it.. What's weird though is, I saw they were already planning a Hobbit 2.. WTF is that all about?? Some made up story about Bilbo during the long period between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring?? Tolkien didn't write it so it shouldn't be made..

Thoughts??

I'd heard that since Hobbit is so dense, they're splitting the story in two rather than trying to mash it all into one movie.

Honestly, each book of Lord of the Rings is more dense than The Hobbit. They didn't split those up.

But I have to agree that Guillermo del Toro is the man. Pan's Labyrinth is one of my favourite movies, and Hellboy was pretty great too. Haven't seen Blade II or any of his other movies, though.

The books were horrible, so why does it matter if they make up a movie that wasn't written by a boring author? The movies were 50x better than the books.

I wasn't a huge fan of the LOTRs books but The Hobbit is one of the greatest books ever..

Pans Labyrinth is an icredible film, i love it like a fat kid loves cake.

Del Toro is most definitely the man, can't wait for Hellboy2 to drop.

Cronos is... weird. Not sure if I'd recommend it, since it's pretty strange, but it might be worth it if you've got a thing for weird foreign horror.

I've not seen The Devil's Backbone yet, but I've had the DVD lying around for months. Just need to find the time. And only then after I've finally watched Pan's Labyrinth.

I was gonna say The Orphanage is flying around in some theatres in the country. But I think he's only producing the film. Don't know if he wrote the script or not.

El laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) is the greatest movie of all time. I even got my Communications professor to have us watch it in class and critique it. Guillermo Del Toro is a fabulous director.

Anyway, I haven't seen either of those movies. I will go into work tonight after watching Assasination of Jesse James (Terrible) and search to see if we have it in the store ... I'll rent and watch them haha.

Yeah, he just produced it.. I thought he'd directed it..

He's 99.9% confirmed to be directing The Hobbit with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh writing and producing.
