Tough Enough 4 Real

Who do you think was/is the most legitimately tough wrestler of all time?
It could be any number of people but I'm gonna say Paul Orndorff.

Destor 02-02-2008 09:16 PM

Vader, the man had his eye knocked out of his skull 7 minutes into a 15 minute match. He just put it back in and went with it. Nothing like him.

You forgot about the part where he stopped and ate a twinkie.

Destor 02-02-2008 09:21 PM

Twinkies are the manliest food known in the universe.

Xero 02-02-2008 10:27 PM

Aside from 8 foot long subs.

Destor 02-02-2008 10:29 PM

Yeah, but everyone knows that.

Skippord 02-03-2008 02:06 AM

Meng

ddpBANG 02-03-2008 02:34 AM

Destor knows.

Mr. Nerfect 02-03-2008 02:36 AM

Vader sounds pretty fucking tough. Stu Hart apparently did some crazy shit in his life, too.

Sadly tough, and stupid, go hand in hand.

Chavo Classic 02-03-2008 08:28 AM

Tracey Smothers wrestled a fucking bear, FFS!

Did he actually? That is what I also heard about Stu Hart. And Conan O'Brien.

Pardeep 619 02-03-2008 09:05 AM

Freddie Blassie wrestled a bear as well twice

Love that video. The bear refused to job though.

Londoner 02-03-2008 10:44 AM

What about mick foley?

Chavo Classic 02-03-2008 10:49 AM

He's a glorified stuntman.

*hides from inevitable flaming*

Londoner 02-03-2008 10:52 AM

yeah but still, he has taken alot of punishment. Such as losing half is ear, gettign a tooth stuck up his nose during the match..etc.

Chavo Classic 02-03-2008 10:55 AM

He takes punishment, but by his own admission, offense isn't his strong point.
If you were going to say that taking punishment was a strong quality for a tough guy, then Bruiser Brody would be top of that list because he also had an awesome arsenal of stiff offensive moves.

Londoner 02-03-2008 10:59 AM

True, but toughness i relate to endurance so thats where im coming from. Its not how hard you can hit, but how hard you can take getting hit, a quote i remember from somewhere, not sure where!

Chavo Classic 02-03-2008 11:05 AM

I dunno, maybe I just lost a lot of trust in Foley after the Boiler-room Brawl at Backlash 1999.

I was convinced that the blood and the broken glass were real and argued with my brother that it was until I was blue in the face. He was laughing and thought that I was so naive to believe that it wasn't fake, and I spent a good thirty minutes explaining the type of matches Foley has and the type of man that he is.

Then I read Foley's 2nd book, and found out that it was fake. It was all fake - the broken glass, the blood, everything. I felt cheated and humiliated and since then I've thought less of Foley.

Londoner 02-03-2008 11:07 AM

You mean that shit that i mentioned was fake also? dissapointed to hear that if so, no wonder ppl boo him now.

Chavo Classic 02-03-2008 11:11 AM

Don't forget at this point, Foley's career was slowing down and the majority of his appeal was that he was a tough SOB who took abuse after abuse and kept coming back for more. His match against HHH at the Rumble and the Rock the year before was basically an exhibition of the guy getting whipped.

Don't get me wrong. I'd rather Foley hadn't gone all-out in matches he didn't need to. I'd rather have seen him round for a couple more years rather than brutalise himself in needless ways that shortened his career. But when you push yourself in a certain way, and then fool everyone and make them feel like a dumbass for believing it, then there's bound to be some backlash.

Londoner 02-03-2008 11:15 AM

Well then you gotta say to that, this is wrestling, it is fake anyway, etc.

Yeh, which is why it pissed me off when you had a guy like Foley come out and make you believe his shit was real. All those death-match clips, all those sicks bumps and promos in which he advertised his own toughness and then spray a bit of fake blood around when you've finally got everyone's attention.

Londoner 02-03-2008 11:46 AM

Ok fair enough.

Chavo Classic 02-03-2008 11:55 AM

Dammit, I'm not finished yet. FUCK YOU FOLEY! Fuck you for making me belive in you! I'm not buying your next book regardless of how much you turn up on Raw sprouting your cheap-pop catchphrases and half-assing your way through another retirement match and going back on that little whore speech you gave a NWO 2000. Fuck you!

Chavo Classic 02-03-2008 11:55 AM

....ahhhhhh! :D

Londoner 02-03-2008 12:49 PM

he was a good entertainer tho...:p

Anybody Thrilla 02-03-2008 01:08 PM

I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is Hardcore Holly. He's hardcore, you know.

Vastardikai 02-03-2008 03:55 PM

Harley Race.

Thread Over.

Skippord 02-03-2008 05:07 PM

Meng/Haku bites peoples noses off

and thats way fucking tough

Rammsteinmad 02-04-2008 01:20 AM

New Jack obviously.

Dave Youell 02-04-2008 05:30 AM

Why is Terry Funk not on this thread yet?

As for Vader, Paul Orndorff kicked his ass in WCW

As for tough, I guess that means who will keep going after taking a pounding, rather than who can handle themselves best.

I'd give Tommy Dreamer a shout, he carried on with a busted Nut Sack for god's sake!
