Sharkboy= awesome

I dont give a shit how awful everyone thinks TNA is but this sharkboy stonecold thing is gold! He has the voice , the lines and the swagger that just makes it fun to watch. They can really go a long way with this if they don't fuck it up.

(and i know there are other threads but with people posting old shit being a trend around here far be it for me to not go with the flow)

Destor 02-04-2008 07:23 AM

You are wrong.

Mr. JL 02-04-2008 07:25 AM

Next week on TNA... Sonjay Dutt debuts as THE ROCK!!!!

Purgatory 02-04-2008 08:03 AM

I can appreciate a gimmick alteration, but blatantly ripping off an already established gimmick just shows how empty TNA's Creative Team really is.

EDIT: Apparently, this had nothing to do with TNA's Creative. It's all Sharkboy's idea. Being that it could get them in some sort of legal trouble, I'll assume he's got permission. This doesn't make it any less stupid, though.

Woah WOAH!

Don't you dare let creative get away with this one, they could of said no.

I agree he does a good impersination, but I really don't see where this can go.

The MAC 02-04-2008 08:18 AM

Hmm maybe you are right if it is a rip off and not a paroy which i assumed it was from watching a couple of clips on youtube.

Wonder what steve austin has to say about this.

Sure they could have said 'no', but apparently they just let him go with it. Perhaps they were thinking 'Hey, if anything legal comes downwind about this, we can say we had nothing to do with it."

On the other hand, I'm not sure if a parody can be looked at as being illegal.

Londoner 02-04-2008 08:54 AM

lol this gimmick rip off is going nowhere. He'll be back to jobbing soon.

I didn't know he could talk in the first place.

Nark Order 02-04-2008 12:10 PM

Just because a guy can do a good impression of another wrestler DOES NOT mean that they should have a gimmick based off of it. That is ricockulously retarded.

Inadequacy 02-04-2008 12:20 PM

I think it should turn out Sharkboy has an inoperable brain tumor that causes him to change gimmicks every two weeks or so. They can end it with an hour long special titled "the death of Sharkboy: A Retrospective looking back into the shark tank." They can have highlights from his best matches and interviews with people who knew him (return of D-Ray 3000 anybody? Even though I have no idea who he is). Then at the last minute have Eric Young run in with a miracle cure, only to be too late and begin a new Emo gimmick because he couldn't save the one man who ever loved him. Maybe even make his new slogan "Don't kill yourself Eric!" Which would of course but him in a feud with Somoa "Gonna Kill You" Joe. Which would end with Joe beating Eric to death leading to the "Death of Eric Young" t.v. special.

Nark Order 02-04-2008 12:44 PM

DEAR INADEQUACY,

IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO BE BE FUNNY. CONTRARY TO YOUR BELIEFS, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. DO US ALL A FAVOR AND REFRAIN FROM FUTURE ATTEMPTS AT HUMOR.

THANK YOU,
NARCISSUS

Inadequacy 02-04-2008 12:50 PM

Oh no

The Optimist 02-04-2008 01:40 PM

I thought it was funny. .__.

A few impressions here and there create the right kind of silly atmosphere that keeps wrestling honest.

Purgatory 02-04-2008 01:58 PM

I too was hoping that this was just a play on his 'coma' and that maybe something was seriously wrong and he was just gonna randomly steal gimmicks every week. Hopefully, something still plays out to that extent, or they get sued and Sharkboy has to stop, or someone get's pissed off and beats it out of him.

Fox 02-04-2008 02:21 PM

Russo probably has no problem with it because he believes he "created" Stone Cold Steve Austin. Fuck, he probably thinks he "created" Macho Man Randy Savage too, since they worked together briefly in 2000.

I hate Vince Russo!

IC Champion 02-04-2008 02:40 PM

Unless it ends in Steve Austin himself, showing up in TNA, stunning him, drinking beer, than dissappearing for 6 months, its stupid.

Fox 02-04-2008 02:45 PM

Or maybe Sharkboy gets a bad neck injury and has to retire like Austin.

Morbid, I know.

Theo Dious 02-04-2008 04:15 PM

I enjoyed Sharkboy's performance last week. His voice is perfect and he did the whole thing very well. The only thing I didn't like was how the announcers and the officials that got Stunnered couldn't do their fucking jobs and sell it.

Optimus Bone 69 02-04-2008 04:37 PM

Any vids of this?

Hanso Amore 02-04-2008 05:01 PM

They have 2 wrestlers based on past wrestlers that they can imitate. It is so fucking sad.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 02-04-2008 05:09 PM

We demand more tranny gimmicks, right Matty-boy?

Fooled you, you dumb fuck. They're both terrible.

TNA blows.

jcmoorehead 02-04-2008 05:30 PM

What the fuck did I just watch? Any redeeming feature TNA might have has just been eradicated by that.

Crimson 02-04-2008 11:51 PM

Horrible

Xerzes 02-05-2008 12:03 AM

Just awful.

The Optimist 02-05-2008 12:59 AM

Delicious.

Mr. Nerfect 02-05-2008 02:05 AM

I honestly don't think that it's that bad. :-\

Shark Boy does a fantastic Steve Austin impersonation, admit that much. I think the music is fucking retarded, but I don't mind Shark Boy doing an Austin impersonation at all. It's something he does well that could help him get over (further) with the crowd. I mean, how much could it hurt someone named "Shark Boy?"

Also, I love the way people are crying "ripoff." That is definitely the wrong noun to use. If they had a seriously wrestler come down to the ring, throw some Stunners, drink some beer, and called him by a name that looked like it was trying to distance the association with Stone Cold, then that could be considered a ripoff. A masked guy pretending to be Stone Cold Steve Austin is not "ripping off." It's an attempt at parody.

It's using Shark Boy as well as he can really be used, I think.

Nark Order 02-05-2008 02:32 AM

I don't know. I'm trying to see the appeal in this and just can't. It is way too reminiscent of Juventud Guerrera's "The Juice" gimmick in WCW. Which was horrendous and a blatant ripoff, not to mention a poor parody.

Well, "The Juice" was more a veiled attempt to make Juvi a star, I believe (if it worked for Rocky Maivia, it'll work for Juventud Guerra kind of thing), but I think that Shark Boy isn't so much an attempt to dig at the WWE. I mean, it's obviously meant to be Stone Cold Steve Austin, but Austin's not really around these days, and Shark Boy really has nothing else going for him.

It's not brilliant or anything, but I don't think it's anywhere near the worst thing TNA have done.

.44 Magdalene 02-05-2008 07:59 AM

Bizarrely enough, I have to express sentiments with the 'Noid here. Why the fuck are people calling this a "ripoff" and not a parody?

That's not to say that it's even close to entertaining--it's still retarded, especially after being dragged out so long--but do people not realize that the Stone Coldness of it all is overly intentional? It's not like they're trying to be fucking sneaky about it. It's a parody that went on too long because TNA doesn't know how to end a joke politely.

That's pretty much it.

Mr. Nerfect 02-05-2008 08:11 AM

Random observation: Is it just me, or is Eric Young far less entertaining than he used to be? Is it maybe just because he knows he's in shit?

6to1 02-05-2008 07:52 PM

whendoes he wrestle gillberg that was wwf's bad joke

It's just you.

You know, because he was terrible before. He's about equal.
