What the fuck is up with Jeff Hardy's new music

They guy has had the same music for 10 years and it has worked fine for him, now he comes out to some gay emo crap? Seriously, what the fuck?

thedamndest 02-20-2008 01:38 PM

You need lyrics to be a main event player nowadays. Lyrics or gtfo.

Londoner 02-20-2008 01:42 PM

I think he was just promoting it for that band thatw as there or something.Im sure he'll go back to it, kennedy had a new theme also.

thedamndest 02-20-2008 01:42 PM

First you get a generic song, then you get a slightly reworked song with your catchphrase preceding it and/or mixed into it, then you get your own song with lyrics that vaguely depict your character.

Kalyx triaD 02-20-2008 01:42 PM

Its not that bad.

Tommy Gunn 02-20-2008 01:44 PM

Dude, at least they didn't use fuckin' 'Rooftops'.

Ninti the Mad 02-20-2008 02:46 PM

about time

Xero 02-20-2008 03:16 PM

It's pretty terrible. If they kept it a bit harder, more like the old theme, I wouldn't mind. But it's gotten rid of its "oomph", especially the opening. Surprise attacks are better with a strong opening to the song.

Yeah, it's alright.

I agree it's lost it's wow factor, but it could of been alot worse

And that band looks like they are straight out of the 80's

Slow 02-20-2008 04:33 PM

Not so much a step in the wrong direction, as it is a swanton off of a very high cliff. Terrible. :nono:

St. Jimmy 02-20-2008 04:42 PM

It's really slow at the beginning and terrible. Rob Conways theme had more hype than this shit.

Also if Kurt Angle Mark is talking about Hot Water Music's 'Rooftops' I'm gonna break a pool stick off in his ass.

Kane Knight 02-20-2008 04:56 PM

They're promoting a new CD, and they can't sell the Generic Hardyz theme, so they had to change it so they could put "Jeff's Theme" on the disc.

Wasn't that the same reason Booker T recorded that "Can You Dig It" song and used it for like a month?

Xero 02-20-2008 05:51 PM

Wasn't that just for that retarded Originals CD? Christ that was terrible.

No, they were using Lost Prophets 'Rooftops' with a promo vid of Jeff for a few weeks.

Yeah, and there were several other examples. Though to be honest, I'm surprised some of them stuck.

I thought it worked pretty well

Lord-Of-Darkness 02-20-2008 06:30 PM

Like when they changed Cena's music. I thought 'My time is now' was supposed to support his challenge for the WWE title, and promote his album, and yet its still around. His old theme was much better imo.

It just seems to me that the ones recorded for the superstar because they want a new theme for them (The Game, Austin's Disturbed theme etc) are so much better than the ones they do in bulk to bring out a new cd, then use them with the superstars to promote the cd.

And even though its never been a problem before, its just dawned on me how gay it is to call wrestlers 'superstars'. Strange

I don't mind the track at all.

Yeah it's not bad, but I really liked how well it fit Hardy and how well the video package was made.

Blitz 02-20-2008 06:52 PM

Rooftops would've been better.

"Basic Thuganomics" is the far superior song, and I thought they'd go back to it eventually. However, it strikes me that his new song better fits the current Cena "character," though both are inferior to the previous incarnation.

Some of the songs they pull out for the sake of a CD are actually pretty good. I liked a couple of the tunes off the rap CD, for example. The problem is, most of them blow. Thankfully, they don't last long.

I faithfully believe that Stone Cold without "Glass Shatters" just wouldn't have had the same effect.

Xero 02-20-2008 07:31 PM

Absolutely. And it feels weird when Triple H's music starts without the opening. I mean, you know it's Triple H, but it cuts mid-song and is terrible.

The rap album, Aggression right? I enjoyed a fair bit of that album, and threw it on my ipod because they're not bad. Maybe its to do with the wrestlers they do the songs for. Back in the day I'd happily empty my pockets for a cd full of themes for Taker, Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Big Show etc.

Now I don't know about you guys, but I don't give a monkeys if someone does a spanish song representing Super Crazy, nor do I care if the new album contains remakes or whatever for Candice and Jillian

Kane Knight 02-20-2008 08:11 PM

Yeah, Aggression. Not every track was gold, and some of them made me ask why the fuck they bothered, but for the most part, it had some entertaining ideas.

Kalyx triaD 02-21-2008 12:00 AM

Meeno.

Mr. Nerfect 02-21-2008 11:30 AM

Jeff Hardy did need a new theme, but it should have been what "Whatever" was to Chris Benoit's "Rabid."

They should have really juiced it up, and gone balls to the wall with that shit at the start, and then maybe throw in some lyrics about being a crazy bastard.

SammyG 02-21-2008 12:20 PM

Very good point made by Alienoid.

Anyone got a link to this. I did not bother watching Raw this week as i knew Cena was getting the win for the triple threat match and i did not want to smash the TV in

311 02-21-2008 03:08 PM

Kennedy's new music is awful in comparison.

Lord-Of-Darkness 02-21-2008 03:13 PM

Kennedy has new music as well? Didn't they JUST put his 'Turn up the trouble' theme on Raw's Greatest Hits?

They did. His "New" music is a shitty remix of the same theme by some shitty band. It'll probably be dropped in a month or so.

Lord-Of-Darkness 02-21-2008 04:27 PM

Just like 'My time is now', right?

Kane Knight 02-21-2008 05:04 PM

Yes, although I'd say the odds are better in the case of a remix than a new song and so on.

Mr. Nerfect 02-21-2008 05:43 PM

I was actually going to start a new thread on this, but it seems to be already under discussion here: My Time is Now is an awful theme, and John Cena should lose it. Basic Thuganomics was way better, and really anything would be.

The sound made at the beginning (I don't know how to describe it) is so damn grating that if someone near my made the sound more than once in succession, I don't care who they are, I would punch them in the face. It also encourages Cena to come storming onto the stage like an idiot.

I honestly believe that his entrance is one of the biggest reasons Cena is so easy to boo.
