Law & Order: Criminal Intent

Vincent D'Onofrio is an amazing actor, and his character on LOCI is just as amazing. The way that the detectives use psychology is just amazing at times.

Like the episode where the two kids kill their father because they're afraid they'll go back to the orphanage (the one where one of the kids is in a choir at school), the elder brother did it, and while being questioned Goren isn't quite getting through to him. So Carver tells Goren that he isn't convinced that the kids did it... however, the evidence against the mother (or was it the nanny?) was overwhelming, and they could put her away. That made the younger brother fess up and set the elder brother off. I mean, stuff like that just makes the show amazing to watch sometimes.

I can't get enough of it. If I had the money, I'd buy all the seasons of LOCI available on DVD.

Granted, that's not the best example of the use of psychology in LOCI, but I don't have the best memory in the world.

Yeah, it really is a great show. I am partial to the Law & Order franchise, but Criminal Intent definitely has its distinct feel and formula. I love it. Vincent D'Onofio is great. Courtney B. Vance was underused on the show when he was around, though.

All the Law & Order shows are great IMO.

Vietnamese Crippler 03-20-2008 07:35 PM

My favorite is SVU, but I do agree that CI is great. Although I am partial to the other "team" (with Logan)

Am i the only person that thinks Vincent D'Onofrio is the biggest overactor in the world. I was actually gunna make a thread about this. He over acts way too much

TerranRich 03-21-2008 10:10 PM

Sorry, gonna have to disagree. Personally, I think he's one of the greatest, most versatile actors around. He can play any characters, whether evil (The Cell), psychotic (Full Metal Jacket), alien (Men In Black), or even normal. Sure, his range may be somewhat limited to evil/crazy/weird, but he's damn good at it. How does he overract? Do you mean in LOCI, or in other works?

And it took me a looooong time to warm up to Logan's team. I didn't even give two shits about his team until I got to know some of Chris Noth's other work. I guess I'm just used to the quirks of characters like Stabler and Goren, where I don't see any real quirks in Logan. I guess we're supposed to care because he was in the original L&O.

I also think it's pretty neat how Law & Order is exactly like Star Trek in that it has the original and the spin-off series. In that regard, Law & Order: Trial by Jury would be either the Animated Series or Enterprise. ;)

I do get what you're saying, I do, but I think you are exaggerating a little. Often it is possible to see the strings on him, and realise he is acting, but I genuinely think he has a charming presence.

The man has done some great work, and when he does hit the right notes, he hits them so perfectly. I almost want to call him "hit and miss," but he never looks ridiculous, unless that's the plan.

RP 03-22-2008 06:10 PM

No real detective acts like that. Its overacting

TerranRich 03-23-2008 02:10 AM

Honestly, he'd be boring if he didn't overact. I wouldn't watch it at all. No detective is as reckless and unstable as Stabler either, otherwise they'd have been fired ages ago.

Destor 03-23-2008 02:18 AM

I fucking hate this hsow with a psssion. Law & Order, right? they do the bust and then the prossecution. Thats how the origional is formated and SVU. Not Criminal inent. It should just be called LAW: CRIMINAL INTENT. Its only half of the show.

GAY

Anyone catch the premier tonight?

Vietnamese Crippler 06-09-2008 02:52 AM

It was ok, up until [spoiler]Goren was revealed to be undercover[spoiler]

I mean, it was obvious it was going to happen, but it just went downhill from there.

Juan 06-09-2008 03:00 AM

Yeah, I'm feeling the Logan/Wheeler duo.

RP 06-09-2008 03:03 AM

SUV is my favorite. Did you know Chris Meloni was Freakshow in Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle?

Juan 06-09-2008 05:26 AM

Hey Randy! What? The devil! Oh! The devil is everywhere

D Mac 06-09-2008 06:50 AM

Private Pyle

Juan 08-21-2008 10:07 PM

So Chris Noth is out and Jeff Goldblum is in. I dunno how I feel about this. Logan was by far my favorite detective, after Ed Green from the original, but he's gone too now.

Vietnamese Crippler 08-22-2008 05:05 AM

Why do I imagine Jeff Goldblum being the same character he was in Jurassic Park :o

Juan 08-22-2008 05:17 AM

You mean the same character he's played his whole career? Even still, I'm excited to see how he does in the Law & Order universe.

ClockShot 08-22-2008 06:26 AM

Noth is out? Wow. Wonder if he's gonna go salvage the original. I quit that when Anthony Anderson took over for Jesse L. Martin.

Indifferent Clox 08-22-2008 06:41 AM

FUCK YOU JEFF GOLDBLUM!
