Have the made a big deal about Punk's mitb?
 

Not that I've seen. Then again I don't watch ECW with regularity. Taker is on it tonight, so maybe I'll actually watch.

I don't mean this as a flame, because I'm really trying to like CM Punk. I feel like I'm missing out because everyone loves him so damn much - but for the life of me I can NOT figure out what everyone's hardon is for this guy. He looks like death, he's not that great of a wrestler, and his mic skills are not stellar. Every Punk match I watch looks the exact same - save a kick here and there. He's a white-meat babyface with crappy emo theme music, and I just can't wrap my head around why he's so adored by the 'E and on this board.

So please - give me a reason to like Cookie Monster. I'm seriously looking for one.

No, although they keep implying Punk is going to use it on the ECW title which obviously means that he won't.

Well whenever anyone says something negative about an IWC golden child (Jericho, Punk, etc) it always ends up becoming some heated debate that never goes anywhere.

Most of us who like Punk got into him before WWE

Killswitch Engage is hardly crappy emo.

I mean were only 2 weeks removed from the MiTB match itself, so I still have high hopes for Punk with it. Its going to be a really slow build I think. Starting in KoTR where he either wins it or has a great match with someone like HBK and loses. Then I think he needs to have a high fued, meaning not opening PPV's. I was going to say with Jericho for Backlash but they decided to put Jericho in with HBK/Bats.

So to answer the question at hand, I don't think they have made a big deal about it yet, but they will in the coming months as he keeps getting more built up.

Punk is on ECW.

Nothing on ECW is important in the WWE. So WWE won't be making a big deal out of Punk's MITB until he moves to another roster.

I think his mic skills are a lot better than we have seen in WWE. Alot of his ROH stuff was hilarious. Plus the straight edge gimmick is more of a heel character anyways, and I think he is better at doing that.

Actually i think CM Punk sucks balls. How he couldnt keep Maria happy is beyond me. If i was sexxing Maria, i'd come out doing promo's with her vagina on my face.

Comedy is like the easiest possible thing to do in wrestling. Especially if you're a "funny" heel. And Hell, with the way people laugh over Marella mispronouncing words, it's fairly clear that we're not looking at highbrow comedy. Sorry.

There are tons of people who are "hilarious," and pretty much every wrestler who's appeared outside of wrestling does comedy because laughs are easier than serious drama.

Agreed. Killswitch isn't anywhere near emo...it has a lot more attitude...plus the lead singer isn't 16yrs old (like every other emo band).

Too bad Punk's theme really makes him sound like a whiny juvenile pussy.

Santino Marella is a comedy genius. Don't be hating on the man because you be jealous.

Also, while I personally find comedic acting easier than dramatic acting, a lot of people will tell you that the former is much harder. And don't even get started on stand-up. That is an extremely difficult craft to master.

Also, I think it's a bad idea they go all-out with the MITB winner straight away. They can't let it go to the point TNA has with Scott Steiner, but there needs to be build for Punk. He could come out of nowhere and be a refreshing change when things get stale, with that title shot. No reason to necessarily shove him in with everything already stale.

Also, I can't be sure, but didn't Scott Steiner win both a TNA World Heavyweight Title shot and a TNA X-Division Title shot? Whatever happened to the X-Division one?

My concern with that, though, is that it makes the TNA X-Division Title look sort of less prestigious by having a guy say "look, I don't want a shot at it." I mean, Petey would do much better with the shot, but it is sort of dismissive to the X-Division Title. What would the point of having Steiner win the shot in the first place be anyway?

Of course, so did having the X-Division Champion admit he couldn't afford a hotel and having to sneak in to use the hot tub.

If I was going to be jealous, I'd set my aims a little higher than Marella. I know that you claim that being stupid is just, like, a gimmick, but this is dumb even for your usual gimmick posts.
