Who the Fuck is this guy?

How have I never heard of this guy?

Pretty Sweet Spots.

Takuya Sugi? Anyone know anything about him?

thedamndest 04-15-2008 06:54 PM

How could you have missed Takuya "The Big Taku" Sugi?

Xero 04-15-2008 06:55 PM

Not going to say that the athleticism isn't impressive, but 80% of that shit is beyond stupid.

Hanso Amore 04-15-2008 06:58 PM

I am not a bg highspot guy, but this shit is impressive, and most are very creative.

I have seen so much shit, to actually have me say holy shit, is pretty rare.

Xero 04-15-2008 06:59 PM

Also, why do people here not have an understanding of the word "embed"?

Hanso Amore 04-15-2008 07:57 PM

Because I have no desire to learn how.

Mr. Nerfect 04-15-2008 08:07 PM

Impressive shit. I didn't see anything more ridiculous than in any other wrestling match. The business is inherently ridiculous.

I've wanted to see a springboard 450 splash for ages. Plus, the Imploding Star Press is fucking awesome.

Jura 04-15-2008 08:14 PM

Ok there must be a video of some botches.

Mr. Nerfect 04-15-2008 08:22 PM

LOL at some of those costumes. Specially the cat.

Dorkchop 04-15-2008 09:00 PM

Some of the crazy flippy moves are believable. I will admit that the athleticism is amazing.

Now if you can get a 6'7, 500lbs man do that, like in No Mercy, I'll be impressed.

Mooияakeя™ 04-15-2008 09:05 PM

Right. This shit is just. HO-LEE-FUUUUCK!

You knwo if WWE had him, they'd just ruin him.

thus, in this case, I really really need to get access to see some of this Jap stuff. Pretty impossible here in the UK. But it's gotta happen. I'm seeing some good stuff out there..

The Optimist 04-16-2008 04:03 AM

Yeah. Love Little Dragon. Ultimo Dragon's hand-picked apprentice.

Crap, nevermind. I confused Little Dragon for Dragon Kid. What a grave error.

Indifferent Clox 04-16-2008 04:12 AM

OMG My love for Japanese wrestling grows every day.

Indifferent Clox 04-16-2008 04:28 AM

Is this guy in the firepro games?

How so?

What Would Kevin Do? 04-16-2008 04:52 AM

His reverse 450 is amazing.

The Optimist 04-16-2008 05:10 AM

Possible interest in Dragon Kid

CSL 04-16-2008 12:29 PM

Amazing athleticism but is he a spot monkey or can he actually wrestle? I get the feeling there wouldn't be a whole lot of 'flow' to his matches and a lot of opponents standing in a spot a bit too long waiting for his latest 1080 super moon flip press

Most of the spots take too long to set up or is just static flipping. One flip, ok. Flip into the ring, opponent gets up, flip, jump over opponent, backflip over opponent... It's too involved to make any kind of sense and just makes the opponent look like a tool. It goes beyond suspending belief to an over-acted circus act.

A spotmonkey is a spotmonkey and he's a spotmonkey from what I see in that video.

Indifferent Clox 04-16-2008 01:43 PM

Those are just clips, having watched other of his stuff now, it works well in the matches, the opponents usually pretty laid out before he does that crazy stuff you see inthe video, or he catches them off gaurd, it works well in the confines of a match, he's not a spot monkey.

RVDmark 04-16-2008 01:45 PM

Whether its technically wrestling or not, I'd gladly watch that style of wrestling over Triple H / JBL again.

CSL 04-16-2008 01:49 PM

I would take a good Triple H match over JackEvansMania any day

U-Warrior 04-16-2008 02:51 PM

The reason you havn't heard of him, is that he hasn't to my knowledge, ever gone by his real name. On top of that, he changes names and costumes like every fucking month. That one pic isn't of different costumes. Its of different gimmicks.

He is in Firepro Returns as Shanao.(The light blue jumpsuit with whit and black mask)

But as FPR came out over 5 years ago, he hadn't evolved to the point where any of his crazy shit isi n the game.

CSL 04-16-2008 02:56 PM

Jaton 04-16-2008 03:10 PM

Amazing athleticism. Beyond amazing.

The thing that really stood out to me in that video was the hurricanrana. I miss the days when that shit looked like the guy performing it actually forcing his opponent to flip over, instead of the Rey Mysterio Half-Assed Mess™ we have today.

LoDownM 04-16-2008 03:39 PM

The flip off the ropes followed by the superkick is amazing.

Gertner 04-16-2008 04:01 PM

that was incredible

NoRoolz 04-16-2008 05:41 PM

that was like watching the best part of the best ever power rangers episode.

Indifferent Clox 04-16-2008 09:14 PM

He has an official myspace which you can find on the wikipedia site above and a shit ton of his matches are available for your veiwing pleasure.

El Fangel 04-16-2008 11:37 PM

Nash could do all that. :shifty:

Blasphemy! Nash has already done all of that.

Jeritron 04-17-2008 12:18 AM

some of it is cool, but for the most part it belongs in cirque de soleil and doesn't make for good wrestling

Indifferent Clox 04-17-2008 12:20 AM

Did you watch his actual matches or just the highlight video?

I mean without tearing all 3 of his quads.

To be fair, thats almost exactly how Mysterio used to do it too. He simply can't do it like that anymore, cause he's older, and his knees are fucked.

Even if the spots isn't done just for the sake of doing a high spot, some people just aren't into that stuff. I personally love cruiserweights, but to each his own.

Hanso Amore 04-17-2008 06:56 AM

I think if used sparingly and doen right it fits perfectly.

Like tight rope walking the top rope and then drop kicking a guy in the corner.

It looks great, and makes sense because he is fucking flying, and one would think the extra speed/momentum would make it more effective.

Even the head scissors makes sense, if your fast, you use your skill to disorient your opponent and get him into situations that favor you.

I dunno, I guess I am just a Cruiser Mark.

Now if he did all this in one match, then I would see a problem.
