Prob still cheating on her out on the road.

Edge and Lita stop being involved sometime before she retired I believe.

Do on-going bouts with numerous STDs count as "involved"?

I know at the time it was reported as legit and Edge really had betrayed his best friend and slept with his gf etc. But then didn't it come out that the story was all bullshit and was a clever plan to get fans (specifically smarks) interested?

This would make sense especially as they got into a feud with each other straight after and Edge/Lita would kiss and taunt in front of him. If it was legit surely he would have snapped and stiffed Edge?

Yes it was legit. It caused Matt to whine about it online and WWE turned it into an angle that the casual fan didn't get at all.

Before the angle was more than a couple weeks old, evidently.
