Coachman leaves for ESPN

Jonathan Coachman has been hired for an anchor position with ESPN, according to PWInsider.com.

Dorkchop 05-05-2008 02:29 PM

When he wasn't commentating he was really entertaining. It takes a lot to act like a huge pussy and get humiliated constantly. I'm gonna miss him.

ESPN seems like a great new home for him.

Theo Dious 05-05-2008 02:31 PM

I wonder if he'll pull a Sean Mooney and pretend he never worked for Vince...

...or, failing that, if ESPN will randomly play shots of him being chokeslammed by Kane.

McLegend 05-05-2008 02:32 PM

Good for him.

I always thought he was good charater, and a good Play-by-play guy when he wasn't doing his JR impression. That was not his fault/

Loose Cannon 05-05-2008 02:35 PM

wow pretty cool.

dablackguy 05-05-2008 02:44 PM

Those of us here in the tri state area have seen him on MSG, and knew he'd eventually move on to bigger and better things

Good luck to him :)

Kane Knight 05-05-2008 03:17 PM

Now he can be ignorant of ALL sports, not just pro wrestling.

More power to him, but ESPN are fools.

Mercury Bullet 05-05-2008 03:34 PM

I could see him becoming to Mike Adamle of Sportscenter.

"And the L.A. Lakemen are one game away from advancing to the NWDB Finals!"

Anybody Thrilla 05-05-2008 05:27 PM

I saw him hosting some countdown show of most kick ass plays or something once, and he did a good job there. This doesn't surprise me, but I'll miss him. Go get 'em, Coach!

I don't really know what your beef with Coach is, but in terms of him being ignorant to all sports, let's not forget that he played college basketball.

McLegend 05-05-2008 05:32 PM

He calls basketball games too. He did work for CSTV.

DarKCentaur 05-05-2008 05:32 PM

He does a show on MSG here in New York, it's actually kinda cool to see him talk about the Rangers.

therocksays 05-05-2008 05:47 PM

THE COACH RULES!

therocksays 05-05-2008 05:47 PM

WHEN I GIVE HIM A ROCK BOTTOM!

Indifferent Clox 05-05-2008 06:17 PM

I hope he stops by occasionally.

Kalyx triaD 05-05-2008 06:26 PM

ESPN just dropped a few pegs with this one.

U-Warrior 05-05-2008 07:24 PM

How so? He's a good broadcaster. I've heard his work.

Mercury Bullet 05-06-2008 01:01 PM

So what exactly is he going to be doing? Is he going to do play by play or commentary at sporting events? Sportscenter reporter? Sportscenter anchor? Do we know yet?

mrslackalack 05-06-2008 02:21 PM

I listened to Coach call the mens b-ball A-10 tournament and thought he was solid. He was very knowledgable and funny sometimes.

Jura 05-06-2008 02:33 PM

It's a step up for Coachman considering in WWE if you don't move away from the announcer's table like you're told then you suffer finishers from Undertaker, Batista and Finlay.

Indifferent Clox 05-06-2008 02:37 PM

Now if he doesn't move away from the announce table when the shows over it means he's probably getting a blowjob from her:

He's also wrestled professionally. Proximity to an activity doesn't give you knowledge of it. I'm happy for him, and I'm happy for me because I don't ever have to hear or see Coachman involving WWE again.

Seriously, I would love that.

Coach: ...and that is why I believe that the *insert team name* will go 11 and 2 and win the Superbowl this year.
Other announcer: Interesting point, Jonathan, but may I point out:
*plays clip of Coach getting Batista-bombed*
Coach:

Gertner 05-06-2008 04:56 PM

i hope they shows video of him the charleston with the rock as his lead in.

DaveWadding 05-06-2008 05:01 PM

Wow, yet another annoying black douchebag on ESPN. Equal Opportunity 4LYFE!

The Optimist 05-06-2008 05:33 PM

Even Coachman isn't as annoying as Stewart Scott.
