Wrestlemania 24 buy rate is.....
1,058,000 buys
Mayweather didn't draw shit. Fact. |
Who the hell is Mayweather?
|
I love the fact that revenues for live shows is up 4% while ticket prices are up 25%. Hmmm....
|
So WWE are trying to open up the product to a wider audience, with this WWE kids thing, yet visibally are trying to squeeze the hardcore fan for as much as possible. I know this would be out of character, but i'm beginning to feel like they MIGHT be exploiting their loyal fanbase. :shifty:

Indeed. Which seems to indicate that either attendances are down or there must be a lot of "freebies".

Then again, what the hell do I know? |

I'd also add that this is not the first time. The last Quarterly report and annual report both said "Ticket sales and buyrates are down; revenues are up."

Turnout will keep getting lower, however if they keep rising ticket prices they will eventually reach a point where fans refuse to pay it and they are unable to squeeze any more money out of them. I am already priced out of house shows over here and I have a fairly good income. |

Honestly, I couldn't justify paying more for the product now than I did for the product in 2000. I'd be paying quite a bit more for a product that is significantly less entertaining. And eventually, more and more people are going to be in that boat. Plus, the spending power of Americans is getting lower. And since WWE hardly panders to the movers and shakers, there will come a point where they will price themselves out of feasability, period. Doesn't matter if people like them or not.... |
WrestleMania is too fucking expensive, Vince. Get that through your head. Only your wrestling fans are going to pay $55-$60 for your "showcase of the immortals," but when you're talking about amassing a buyrate considerably larger than your usual wrestling fan base, you need to make both the product and the price reasonable enough for them to make the purchase. Cena/HHH/Orton and Undertaker/Edge weren't exactly the greatest, and Big Show/Mayweather obviously wasn't the key. HBK/Flair was only a draw for wrestling fans - not exactly geared for the casual fan.
Still, the title alone, "WRESTLEMANIA!" carries quite a bit of star power with it. The problem is in the jacked up price for the show. Most people would probably rather spend that $55-60 on a new game for their 360 or PS3, or to fill up their gas tank. It's too much money. $35-45 is a much more reasonable number, and would probably pull in a lot more buys. |
