Goldust is one of my favourite characters in wrestling. There is so much depth to it. His father is one of the greatest and most "conservative" figures in professional wrestling. Then in comes his son, who has all the talent in the world (well, he did), only he dresses like a freak, seems obsessed with a different avenue of the entertainment industry, and seems to be homosexual but has a hot valet hanging off him.
There are so many social, habitual, historical and psychological aspects to the character. Few things in wrestling are genius, but I would consider the Goldust character to be right up there.
I was disappointed with his most recent run in the WWE. He never really came out in the robe, he just wore the wig. Plus he was a lot less mobile in the ring. But yeah, his last run reeked of lack of true effort. I third the motion for a Goldust vs. Cody Rhodes feud. The young, attractive, talented son finding himself at the hostility of the "black and gold sheep" of the family. Goldust would play the "daddy was never there for me" card, and Cody would play the "that can't be the only reason you're fucked up, bro" card.
