All the teams here but two (Outsiders and Acolytes) have or had at one time a very solid technical foundation, and have at least one charismatic member. Outsiders are included because they are probably the most-over tag team of our time. The Acolytes are in here because, when they debuted in the Undertaker's Ministry, they were essentially the only power wrestlers in the WWF. In fact, they didn't just beat their opponents, they decimated them with hard-hitting power moves. They didn't just fall into the big man role of punching a lot and hitting a finisher -- instead they had a hard hitting assortment of sidewalk slams, power bombs, side slams, tilt-a-whirl moves, etc. Pretty incredible for big guys. |

Rockers LOD The Hardys Edge and Christian Harlem Heat The smoking Gunns Hurricane and rosey (there funny) The outsiders The Dudleys (old school) |
1 - The Rockers (by a long shot)
2 - Hart Foundation 3 - Hollywood Blondes 4 - Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith 5 - Edge & Christian 6 - Steiner Brothers 7 - Christian York & Joey Matthews 8 - Lance Storm & Chris Candido 9 - Midnight Express 10 - Rock & Sock Connection I tried to only include teams who had serious runs as tag teams and not makeshift teams that may have won tag titles (Benoit & Jericho spring to mind). I still can't believe the Orient Express and the British Bulldogs couldn't make my list. |
My favorite Tag Team of All Time is
New Age Outlaws The rest is in no particular order: Outsiders Hart Foundation Edge and Christian Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart APA Bushwackers Two Man Power Trip (HHH and Stone Cold) Worlds Greatest Tag Team Steiner Brothers |
NEW AGE OUTLAWS

The Rockers Rock & Roll Express Jerry Lawler & Bill Dundee (OK, so you know where I was living when I was young) Powers of Pain WGTT Bushwackers (gotta love the cheesiness) MOONDOGS!!!!! Hart Foundation LOD Freebirds Demolition British Bulldogs Killer B's And for pure silliness, nothing beats HEADCHEESE! (Not to mention that one of Blackman's close friends from his martial arts training runs a dojo 2 miles from where I live) |
Not that I'm disrespecting anybodies opinion here or anything but I have to find some of the choices strange.
Show Off - Out of all the Freebird fans I know, you might be the only one who says Jimmy Garvin would be in their favourite combo of that team dude! |
1) Steiner Brothers
2) Terry Gordy and Steve Williams 3) Hollywood Blondes 4) Ricky Steamboat and Shane Douglas 5) New Age Outlaws 6) Dudley Boys 7) Legion of Doom 8) Brittish Bulldogs 9) Edge and Christian 10) World's Greatest Tag Team |
Rob: for me, and maybe him, when I started watching Seriously in 89-90, the Freebirds WERE Micheal Hayes and Jimmy Garvin. I didn't know about Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts until later. Maybe he hasn't really seen many good matches with Roberts and Gordy. The funny/sad thing is: that era was a joke, but they had to keep flip/flopping the 'Birds heel and Face because when Hayes talked trash, the fans ate it up, and as a Face he couldn't, which pissed the fans off.
I'm surprised that I was the first to mention the Midnights (half of tag teams today were inspired by the Road Warriors/Legion of Doom, the other half were inspired by either the Midnight Express or the Rock n Roll Express.) Speaking of, It's a shame that I'm still the only one to mention the Rock n Roll Express... Also, I didn't mention Powers of Pain or Demolition because they were both created to more or less leech off of the popularity of Hawk and Animal. In fact, I think I should have replaced Money Inc. with Hollywood Blondes, as Money Inc were more or less put together because of a diminishing tag scene... |
