Favourite Musicals?

Didn't know whether to put this is music or movies lol. Anyways discuss.

At the moment I can't stop listening to the soundtrack to the Phantom of the Opera (the 2004 one with Gerard Butler), and I really like the movie. I also really liked The Producers. :D

Ben Rodrigues 06-02-2008 07:32 AM

I thoroughly enjoyed Sweeney Todd, the 2007 version.

Sepholio 06-02-2008 09:18 AM

Yes, Sweeney Todd is golden. Johnny Depp is an incredibly versatile actor.

PapaGeorgio 06-02-2008 10:43 AM

Nightmare Before Christmas, South Park, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Hairspray are all musicals I have been known to enjoy on some level for different reasons.

Les Miserables

Assassins
Jesus Christ Superstar

The Producers (2004)
Fiddler on the Roof (1971)
Jesus Christ Superstar (2000)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Blues Brothers (if "juke-box" movies count)
Sweeney Todd (though I vastly prefer George Hearn over Johnny Depp)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Does South Park the Movie count? There is an awful lot of singing. And what about Paint Your Wagon Red?

I'm going to see that on Broadway, next month.

Heros Welcome 06-05-2008 01:25 AM

Sweeney Todd was great. As was Rent. I saw Rent on stage in NYC, and thought it was unreal.

jcmoorehead 06-05-2008 05:08 AM

Rocky Horror Picture show, also a fan of its 'sequel' Shock Treatment.
South Park the Movie is good for a laugh.
Blues Brothers.

I didn't mind the Sweeny Todd film, wasn't overly keen on it but was decent.

Also would the Musical Version of War Of The Worlds count?

Destor 06-05-2008 05:14 AM

I FUCKING HATE Rent. So bad.

Destor 06-05-2008 05:14 AM

(The movie, can't speak for the play.)

NoRoolz 06-06-2008 10:32 AM

I remember when I was like 8 or 9 years old on holiday I was convinced to do karoake and sing grease lightning.

This is when I found out, the hard way, that the song contains several sexual references.
