YOUR Hero 03-16-2004 09:44 PM

Dawn of the Dead remake.

Looks good to me. Except, you know, it's another ****ing remake.

Anyone planning on seeing it?

Dragon 03-16-2004 11:00 PM

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I know a few people that got tickets to see the early preview showing or whatever tonight. So I will see what they thought tomorrow.

DegenerationY 03-16-2004 11:21 PM

Probably won't see it.

Looks pretty shitty.

loopydate 03-16-2004 11:28 PM

Horror movies...who needs 'em?

WeAdZ 03-16-2004 11:38 PM

horror movie remake = even worse

i'm sure it will have plenty of surprise moments but anyone can do that. i'm sick of horror movies. the only horror movie i actually enjoy was The Ring. (not a remake as far as i know)

YOUR Hero 03-17-2004 12:01 AM

The Ring was a remake of some Japanese horror movie if I remember right. But it was still original to us.

Funky Fly 03-17-2004 12:49 AM

Ringu, Hero.

But it looks interesting to me. If I hit big on my birthday, I'll definitely check it out.

Boondock Saint 03-17-2004 12:55 AM

I would see it if the movies were closer to my school or if I was home. I enjoyed the original.

Vietnamese Crippler 03-17-2004 01:15 AM

A horror movie this time of year? Nah :o

Bo 03-17-2004 04:35 AM

Im a sucker for zombie movies so Im gonna check it out.

Danny Electric 03-17-2004 06:33 AM

I can't wait to see it, the original is a classic so hopefully this will live up to it.
Everyone leave horror movis alone, lol.
There's three ring films in Japan
Ring 1
Ring 2
Ring 0 - prequel
Ringu is the Korean rip off.

The Mackem 03-17-2004 07:58 AM

Sephiroth 03-17-2004 10:26 AM

Maybe if anybody asks me to go, to see the movie.

Adder 03-17-2004 10:32 AM

It has nothing to offer. It made it's mark before as orginal and as shocking. It can't claim any of that this time around.

I hate remakes.

Actually, Ringu is the Japanese name. If you understand the Japanese language, you'd know. Obviously the name is written in katakana, not hiragana ( if it was hirigana the word would be something you wouldn't recognize, and not as blatant as ringu = ring)

With that said, it's in katakana, meaning it's a non-Japanese word in Japanese writing. Since their language has all sounds followed by a vowel, it would be impossible for a word to end with G. Therefore, Ringu is the japanese pronounciation of Ring.

Cool, what's the korean rip off called?

Do you study Japanese?

What Would Kevin Do? 03-17-2004 11:02 AM

I'm not familiar with the Korean ripoff, sorry.

I study Japanese for school. Currently in my 4th semester/ second year. Language wise, at my college I'm in the highest language class. I might go on to an independent study, or possibly a class that teaches the radicals involved with Kanji.

Surprisingly, Japanese isn't a very difficult language. Once you get the structure and style down, it's pretty easy to understand.

Disturbed316 03-17-2004 11:04 AM

The posters for it are pretty scary.

They got some zombie-fied kid with evil eyes on it. I'm not really into zombie movies, but I'm tempted to check it out.

Smitty 03-17-2004 12:55 PM

I dunno, the origional is so good, I don't think this could ever be on par. Looking at the trailer it looks REALLY different from the origional. Plus I think they said that in this movie the zombies can run?? wtf is up with that?

Danny Electric 03-17-2004 01:06 PM

There's three stages of the zombie disease. So if there in the first stage then it's just started to affect them and so they can run.

DegenerationY 03-17-2004 03:12 PM

When was the original made?

Danny Electric 03-17-2004 03:16 PM

1998

No it's from 98, the sequel was made in '99.
Have you seen them?
Both a lot more better than the re-make.
Oh and check The Eye out too if you like these kind of films.

Sorry I got mixed up with The Ring for some reason.
Yeah it was 1979, sorry Smitty.

loopydate 03-17-2004 03:38 PM

It was originally made in 1978. It was a sequel to 1968's Night of the Living Dead, and a sequel (Day of the Dead) was made in 1985.

Lol, look at my post before, I thought he was asking about The Ring for some reason. Sorry.

Danny Electric 03-17-2004 03:40 PM

Anyone seen the crappy remake of Night Of The Living Dead. That sucked.

I didn't see it, but I heard it was crappy, except the gore was good :y:. The best part of the origional Night Of The Living dead is when the black dude snuffs that white girl.

Lol.
It just wasn't as eery because of the colour, plus I can't remeber exactly but I think they changed the ending.
That's the most shocking thing about the original, that he survives the zombies and then he gets killed by the rednecks the day after. Lol.

Pegasus Crawford 03-19-2004 02:56 PM

I'm still a bit iffy on the quality of this remake. If the zombies ran in the original, then I can overlook the zombies running in the remake, but as memory seves me right, they didn't run in the original movie. My brother is a big fan of the original and really wants to see the movie, so i'll probably end up tagging aloong.

On another note, I think i'm like the only one who loved the Night of the Living Dead remake. :(
