Call Of Duty 5

First details: http://www.destructoid.com/call-of-d...le-89791.phtml

Frankly, the idea of a flame thrower alone fills me with girlish glee.

WWII

Yeah, that.

I like CoD just fine, but the WWII thing has run its course.

Hitler existed, Holocaust happened, etc, etc. We don't need 400 perspectives on it, and 100 different one man army POVs.

Even so...I'll play it, because I know even though it's mostly rehashed from before, I still like it quite a bit. Guess I just got used to the Modern Warfare.

However...A flamethrower is always killer, no matter what time period it exists in.

U-Warrior 06-14-2008 10:06 PM

Treyarch tho.

ClockShot 06-14-2008 11:08 PM

The only plus I see in this is that we're going out of Germany and going island hopping in the Pacific. A route most game developers rarely take when they take on a game based on WWII. Then again, there was Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. And that, IMO, is at the bottom of the barrel in that franchise.

After reading that, this doesn't bode well so far. Come on Infinity Ward, up the cash if need be to lock up the rights to the franchise.

U-Warrior 06-14-2008 11:56 PM

They are actually trying to do so, I believe. Don't think it's gonna happen tho. Activision has much deeper pockets.

OssMan 06-15-2008 01:04 AM

I'm pretty sure that they know they have done too much with WWII, but that leads me to believe that they know what they are doing with this.

WITH REALISTIC, CONSTANT GUN LOCK-UP

The Genius 06-15-2008 07:11 AM

and mustard gas.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-15-2008 07:13 AM

Ah yes, that would be a quality aspect.

But I don't want to play WWII again unless I'm the one gassing the Jews, not being some English/American hero.

Endless trench fighting would get pretty boring.

The Genius 06-15-2008 05:18 PM

i have loved every single socom game and they all had the modern combat theme. i dont understand the need to go back in time to WW2 so often.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-15-2008 05:26 PM

If they do anymore WWII games after this (Where you're not gassing Jews, that is) they should be overly American-ised.

Like have no other countries in it other than the evil ones and America and you win the game by scoring a field goal with Hitlers head while the world chants USA.

Sepholio 06-16-2008 12:12 AM

If it was Infinity Ward making this I wouldn't mind at all that they are doing the Pacific Theatre.

However, it's Treyarch, creators of the ass-wipe game of the series, CoD3. This game will sell out the ass even though it is destined to be an epic phail.

Mr. Monday Morning 06-16-2008 04:01 AM

Pretty sure someone is doing a WWI game actually but I don't remember the details. Lemme look it up.

Disturbed316 06-16-2008 05:07 AM

WWII = WW Gay

D Mac 06-16-2008 07:37 AM

Call of Duty 3 was good. This will be decent, but not as good as COD 4 of course.

Well that's since video games first came out. there are like 8 for Xbox 360

OssMan 06-17-2008 11:29 PM

Call of Duty: World at War

The Genius 06-19-2008 12:42 AM

so they added swimming to the game, not sure i care much at all about that new feature.

Sepholio 06-20-2008 06:08 PM

Even with everything I have read on this game in the last few days, I still stand by my original statement.

Treyarch = Epic phail.

OssMan 06-21-2008 12:01 AM

I probably won't be getting this anyway, I'd rather just rank up in CoD4 for hella long.

LoDownM 06-21-2008 12:07 AM

Kinda intrigued by it.

Plus, i'm god with an M1 in CoD3.

Ninti the Mad 06-21-2008 02:28 AM

COD3 was awesome, asswipes.

ClockShot 06-21-2008 01:22 PM

Trailer is finally up at gametrailers.com

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35413.html

I ain't liking it so far.

Disturbed316 06-21-2008 03:21 PM

Watched it and felt a resounding "MEH" afterwards.

COD3 is the WORST game in the series.

It is an average at best game and if it wasn't labled as Call of Duty 3 it would have failed in sales as well. The only reason that game sold is because they leeched off of Infinity Wards greatness.

17 Actually.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-23-2008 05:41 PM

Senior producer Noah Heller offered some insight into its absence, saying, "We're getting rid of the number in Call of Duty for a very specific reason: It's because we want you to know that when you're playing Call of Duty: World at War you're playing the best shooter, the best WW2 game ever. Likewise when you're playing Modern Warfare, likewise when you play any game that will be called Call of Duty."

WTF is he on about

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/23/ca...its-not-cod-5/

Requiem 06-24-2008 06:47 AM

The fact that Infinity Ward is not developing this is enough to make me not give a shit.

Not that I'm very thrilled with Infinity Ward after their CoD4 patch, but they still manage to make a much better overall game.

Game looks pretty hot to me.

LoDownM 08-09-2008 06:27 PM

Hot indeed.

BigDaddyCool 08-12-2008 10:26 AM

Why not world war 1, or the civil war? WWII gets so boring.

BigDaddyCool 08-12-2008 10:26 AM

That being said, I'll pass on this.

They need Call of Duty: Rome

Because a WWI game would get boring 10,000,000,000 times faster than any WWII game due to standing in a trench shooting at the other trench all the time.

BigDaddyCool 08-12-2008 02:39 PM

I enjoy trench warfare. Then why not a game based on Korea?
