What do you call three dead bodies and a bible?

A Night at the Benoits.

So yeah it's been one year since the dreaded family emergency which lead all of this.

El Fangel 06-22-2008 01:10 AM

I remember exactly where I was when this happened, Mom texted me while I was at work and told me that it happened, and I was like, mom thats not even funny, anyways, went to Burger King for lunch and it was all over CNN.

Shadow 06-22-2008 01:48 AM

I too was at work...watching it unfold. Had to explain to everyone in the break room who Chris Benoit was.

Theo Dious 06-22-2008 01:52 AM

I was settling down to view the latest chapter in the compelling story of who blew up Vince McMahon's limo.

Then Vince was in the ring and... well, we know what happened.

Volare 06-22-2008 06:34 AM

I was deployed in Iraq...and one of my buddies told me and I though he was joking with me. Then I came in and it was on the CNN they show in the desert.

Team Sheep 06-22-2008 07:42 AM

I'd been busy that weekend, hadn't been online or anything, then I fired up the laptop about 10 minutes before RAW started and saw Benoit's face plastered all over WWE.com and I was stunned, didn't understand what the hell had happened. Then I tuned into Raw and there we go...

Hanso Amore 06-22-2008 07:47 AM

I was also in Iraq. I just happened to Hit Yahoo like the minute it came out. I told everyone and people thought I was full of shit.

Afterlife 06-22-2008 07:52 AM

I had been working nights and kept missing Raws due to my schedule. I finally had a Tuesday off, so I got up early Monday night and got to watch Raw and...well, I picked a helluva day to catch up.

That day was also my return to TPDub after a few months' hiatus.

Xero 06-22-2008 08:47 AM

Was watching the Ladder Matches DVD and was looking forward to watching Benoit/Jericho (was planning on watching it next). Went online and it's all over the place. Saw it on TPWW first and of course went to the big news sites to confirm it.

D Mac 06-22-2008 08:56 AM

A year to this day?

Xero 06-22-2008 08:58 AM

Well, they found them the 25th but there was always assumption that the first murder happened back on that Friday (the 22nd) I believe.

KoOS might also be referring to the "food poisoning" Benoit claimed they had.

NeanderCarl 06-22-2008 09:38 AM

For the first time in I don't know how long I hadn't bothered looking at any news sites before watching Raw, so the first I knew of it was when they flashed the In Memory graphic to open the show. I was like WTF??

The food poisoning know as the Crippler Crossface. Git. Git. Git.

Rob 06-22-2008 10:04 AM

I was gonna go to bed but checked out Meltzer's site before I did and it was up there that the whole family was dead. Didn't know why until I woke up the next morning and checked the site again.

Come to think of it, I remember that as Raw was coming on I saw them flashing the usual "In Memory Of" graphic, and I just thought it was for Vince. Then I looked closer and saw Benoit and I was like... "Oh good lord, how could the graphic department screw up like that?!"

JT 06-22-2008 10:33 AM

I was entertaining family through Monday, and didn't find out what happen till turning on the television to watch Raw. I don't tend to have too many spazz-out moments (:shifty:), but ended up throwing and breaking my keyboard when I have the news.

Also this happens to be the one-year annaversary since I last saw my ex-girlfriend. I guess you take the bad with the good.

Fox 06-22-2008 10:36 AM

His match against Kurt Angle at RR 2003 totally makes up for this.

Anger management, boy.

Rammsteinmad 06-22-2008 11:06 AM

I had just come from my night shift (it was Tuesday morning) when I got a text from a mate, telling me "Yo dude, Benoit has been murdered".

Obviously he didn't know the complete facts at the time. I thought he was referring to a wrestling storyline ala Vince's murder, but none-the-less I instantly turned the computer on to check it out.

:(

Bad Company 06-22-2008 11:24 AM

Remember when everyone thought it was a gas leak?

lol

I posted that idea before we even knew they were murdered.

RGWhat316 06-22-2008 01:06 PM

I usually go to a friend's house for RAW and that day I was just doing whatever before I left and I got a call from another one of my buddy's saying he saw Benoit dead on WWE.com. I checked it out myself and called a few other people. The guy who I watched RAW with didn't really believe me and said unless he saw Vince say it himself, then he would believe it. Well, he saw Vince.

I still say Eddie's is a work. He lies, after all.

I think he just aged really fast and got hired by TNA. :shifty:

Kane Knight 06-22-2008 01:57 PM

Eddie was behind the Benoit killings.

DrA 06-22-2008 02:00 PM

Without looking at a single spoiler in this thread, I am going to say Chris Benoit and his dead family is the answer to this riddle.

Good matches always make up for double murders.

Destor 06-22-2008 02:05 PM

Or they have nothing to do with each other and should be treated as such.

Destor 06-22-2008 02:06 PM

"Jimmy is the best mail man ever"

"Yes sir always on time!"

"Sure is!"

"He shot 20 people yeasterday..."

"Worst mail man ever!"

"Never did anything right!"

"And how!"

Destor 06-22-2008 02:07 PM

Ok

And 9/11, those damn Mexicans and their terrorists plots.

KingofOldSchool 06-22-2008 03:30 PM

Someone should Photoshop Eddie crashing his lowrider into the WTC...

I think it was more like "hoped and prayed that it was a gas leak."

Look we already solved that one.

KingofOldSchool 06-22-2008 03:51 PM

Hulk was just a cover up though.

Eddie crashed the low rider into the buildings, but Hulk just finished them off.

Xero 06-22-2008 03:55 PM

Brother.

Benoit took out WTC7 with a diving headbutt off the top of tower 2.

Lord-Of-Darkness 06-23-2008 11:13 AM

A year already? Seems to have gone fast. I remember I had a friend over for some Xbox, and remembered Raw was on, and wanted to see what happened next with the McMahon limo thing. I turn over and they're showing Royal Rumble 04, I was totally confussed, until the Benoit tribute came up at the bottom...
