Adamle: Still terrible, or just a clever work?
Apparently, people still believe it's just him being terrible (and for the record, I HATE these site that make you pay for their shit so you can see one article as PWInsider has with one of the stories about several WWE wrestlers being unhappy with the draft as well. Why make us pay for something that will be on TPWW later tonight, anyway? UGH!!):

My main problem is that everyone is blasting him as if they want him out of the company instead of trying to work with him to get that under control. I've never seen ANY commentator get worked over this badly for anything (HOW many mistakes had JR gotten away with on RAW before the draft, and just WHO are the TNA commentators again?). I know I would've quit by now if I was in his position. |
All I have to say is I'm about ready to join the Mike Adamle Fan Club. If it's legit, then it's great that he hasn't gone on a shooting spree at work. If it's a work, it ranks right up there with "I lost my smile."
Regardless on whether or not it's a work, it works. I always laugh when he says something stupid, and I don't do it in a "I can't stand that guy" kind of way. He actually helps me enjoy a product that I don't really enjoy that much anymore.

I wonder what the Samoan Bulldog thinks of Adamle.
yah its fairly entertaining tbh. I was cracking up at Samoan Bulldog.
It is funny, but it's really awakard when he is calling a match, and instead of actually calling the or doing any talking he just sits there in silence.
I honestly think it's a little bit of both.

Plus, the term "bulldog" does a few things better: Gives him a more intimidating name ("fear me, I'm as tenacious as a bulldog" or something like that), and he DOES kind of look like a bulldog. That and, unpopular of an opinion or not, it DOES pay homage to another foreign bulldog: The late and great Davy Boy Smith (The British Bulldog). |

Isn't he the guy who got a monster contract? For money like that, you can sit there and make fun of me for a few years. In my head I would be thinking, "Ya I suck at this job, but I am getting paid more than these pros".
I'd wager that he's hamming up alot of his performance. Many of the mistakes are probably on purpose. Wether the rest of the WWE, specifically Taz, understands that I don't know.
I think he comes across as a likeable guy, despite his mistakes. He seems quite enthusiastic despite his sheer confusion towards the business. I like him. Not enough to want to watch ECW every week, but I can tolerate him.

I think it's definitely a bit of a work by this point. At first, he was definitely just stinking up the joint. It was so bad that they couldn't just not acknowledge it, so they just ran with it. He seems to be a pretty funny guy, judging from the backstage segments he has appeared in, and he seems to have improved quite a bit, so I really don't have a problem with him.
I think it is a little bit of both, and the announcing on RAW this week was priceless.
Cmon now, it's all about THE DEUCE!!
I watched ECW this week, and I actually didn't think the guy was terrible. He talked about Kofi usually being a defensive wrestler, but going on the offensive against Shelton Benjamin, and his little catchphrases like "Uno! Dos! ADIOS!" and "Jamaican me crazy!" actually help me connect to the action. He's also doing his job and learning more and more about the title histories of the wrestlers.
Also, even if he does blunder his job, he does come off as a really nice guy with a good sense of humor. I sense The Tazz genuinely likes him. I'm not offended by the presence or employment of Mike Adamle. I think he could become quite the character over time. |
But come on: Elevated Dick? What was that guy thinking?
I have to say he did annoy me at first, but over time he has grown on me a bit. It ddefinately would seem as if they are milking it a bit now. But that at least means he isn't just some rookie commentator with no character. Everyone knows who Mike Adamale is now.

darkpower is an Admle mark.

I think it was a fuck up, but they turned it into a work cos they saw it worked for his style.
I agree. they had Maria for a while play a ditsy interviewer and after Adamles screwups I bet they thought lets make this a character habit.
